Time to say goodbye to another classic rock band. Reo Speedwagon recently announced that they would be retiring from touring at the end of the year due to “irreconcilable differences” between two bandmates. Issues arose last November, when longtime bassist Bruce Hall left to undergo back surgery. Matt Bissonette took over as touring bassist. During this time, drama began between Hall and lead vocalist Kevin Cronin, although the band is being tight-lipped about exactly what occurred. The band, featuring Hall, Cronin, guitarist Dave Amato, touring keyboardist Derek Hilland and drummer Bryan Hitt made an announcement that while the bandmates never had any intention of walking away, things cannot be solved between them, so they have to call off any tour dates after 2024. Reo Speedwagon have announced they will stop touring after their remaining 2024 dates (get tickets here). In an official statement, the band said “irreconcilable differences” between vocalist/guitarist Kevin Cronin and bassist Bruce Hall led to the decision.
“Bruce has intended to be back on the road again by now,” the statement reads, referring to Hall’s previously announced return from back surgery. “If it were up to just him, he’d be back on tour… but it’s not up to just him. The consensus opinion was that he had not recovered sufficiently to be able to perform at the level the fans have come to expect.”

Three years after the event, the Navy Seal that killed al-Qaeda founder and architect of the 9/11 terror attacks Osama Bin Laden, has finally been identified as Robert O’Neill, though others have disputed his claim. The identity of the soldier has long remained classified and subject to rumor. A single interview had been done by Esquire and identified him only under the nom de fame “The Shooter.”
According to the Daily Mail, O’Neill was going to be revealed as the shooter in a special for Fox News airing later this month The Man Who Killed Osama Bin Laden, but was beaten to the punch by a website run by ex-special forces personnel and published his name preemptively, as an apparent protest of his decision to reveal himself to the public, which goes against an unspoken oath shared by all military agencies: keep it secret.

So, remember that report yesterday that sprung up saying that Steven Spielberg was considering directing "No Easy Day," a Seal's chronicling of the killing of Osama Bin Laden? Yeah, you can ahead and scratch that. Whether or not those meetings took place or if it was just all hot air from the get go, Spielberg spokesman Marvin Levy has released a fairly definitive statement on the whole matter: "Neither Steven Spielberg, DreamWorks Studios or DreamWorks Television will be optioning Mark Owen’s book 'No Easy Day.'" So there you go. Owen, a pseudonym for real Navy Seal Matt Bissonette, penned the book that is an account of the attack on the Bin Laden compound written from the perspective of one of the SEALs that was on the mission. Of course, details and personnel on the mission have been kept classified in the interest of national security, so the book is controversial already,...

Neither Steven Spielberg nor his DreamWorks production company plans to option No Easy Day, the new book about the raid that killed Osama bin Laden written by one of the Navy SEALs who took part in the attack. No Easy Day: The Firsthand Account of the Mission That Killed Osama bin Laden, which is being published Sept. 11 by Dutton, is credited to a pseudonymous author, Mark Owen, though Fox News has named as the author a 36-year-old former Seal named Matt Bissonette. Update: The Hollywood Reporter got a comment from Spielberg's people, and apparently he won't be optioning the book to either direct it or hand it to DreamWorks TV. False alarm! It's not like he's not already busy......Given how the death of Osama Bin Laden struck a nerve, particularly across the pond, it’s perhaps not surprising that several films about the mission to find and assassinate him are in various stages of development or production. Now you can add one more, as studios and producers are circling the latest book on the subject, No Easy Day: The Firsthand Account Of The Mission That Killed Osama Bin Laden. And one of the biggest names apparently taking a look? Steven Spielberg. The tome – written by Navy Seal Matt Bissonette using the pseudonym Mark Owen – has already been causing controversy as well as interest, since there are concerns that he breached national...

Another bin Laden film is on the horizon as ‘one of the first men through the door on the third floor’ of the martyr Sheikh’s lair in Pakistan is in talks with Steven Spielberg to turn the book into an action movie.
However, at least two other filmmakers (from HBO and DreamWorks) have also met with the former Navy Seal who uses the pseudonym Mark Owen to talk about licensing the story.
Meanwhile, the author Matt Bissonette who has written his eyewitness account, a soon-to-be-published book ‘No Easy Day: The Firsthand Account of the Mission that Killed Osama bin Laden’ is now facing threats against his life in addition to possible criminal prosecution as details and personnel on the mission have been kept classified in the interest of national security.
