For years, Awesome Art We’ve Found Around The Net has been about two things only – awesome art and the artists that create it. With that in mind, we thought why not take the first week of the month to showcase these awesome artists even more? Welcome to “Awesome Artist We’ve Found Around The Net.” In this column, we are focusing on one artist and the awesome art that they create, whether they be amateur, up and coming, or well established. The goal is to uncover these artists so even more people become familiar with them. We ask these artists a few questions to see their origins, influences, and more. If you are an awesome artist or know someone that should be featured, feel free to contact me at any time at theodorebond@joblo.com.This month we are very pleased to bring you the awesome art of…

Glenn Danzig is getting anxious for a return to “normal.” A year ago, the heavy-metal singer turned horror filmmaker was editing his new feature, a blood-soaked “vampire spaghetti Western” called Death Rider in the House of Vampires, when the Covid-19 pandemic forced the world into lockdown. Now that the film is complete, and quarantine protocols are loosening up, he’s hoping to get it into theaters within the next couple of months.
“We’ve already got a plan to go to theaters with it around the country,” he says one day in late March.

At the end of last week we received the news that another highly influential artist pulled up a seat at the great drawing desk in the sky. On the 2nd December Richard Corben passed away at the age of 80. Another talent gone too soon. I had to take a bit of time to put this one together as the bulk of his career is out of my wheelhouse. Upon doing my research I found a large quantity of work for the big two, so I thought by talking about this portion of his career with be a gateway for the readers to discover his larger body of work. Being a big fan of the Cartoonist Kayfabe Youtube channel, not a week geos by when Ed Piskor and Jim Rugg don’t talk about Corben’s art. I don’t think I would be able to write this one without their education.

Batman: Black and White is an almost 25-year-old anthology series that gave titans of the industry, brilliant artists and writers, a chance to go wild and show off what they could do with the Dark Knight and his world. While the series has been around since 1996, Batman: Black and White has been on hiatus since 2014, but that’s about to change in December.
The anthology returns with a new volume on Dec. 8, as announced by DC Comics. The oversized book will run for six issues and each 48-page issue will feature new short stories from an incredible collection of creators. The first issue features covers from long-time Batman artist and Dark Nights: Death Metalhead Greg Capullo; a Talia cover from Peach Momoko; and one from “The Black Glove”‘s Jh Williams.
The list of writers is impressive — Paul Dini, Tim Seeley, Tom King, G. Willow Wilson, Chip Zdarsky, and current...

Every reboot of Superman tries something different, striving to find a fresh approach to the material, and Superman: Man of Tomorrow is no different. This direct-to-video release, out now from Warner Home Entertainment, is intended as the opening chapter in a new continuity, a Rebirth, as it were, of the DC Animated Universe.

Duncan Jones’ “Mooniverse” trilogy is coming to an end with the debut of his graphic novel “Madi: Once Upon A Time In The Future.” The book is the third and final entry in Jones’ science-fiction series that launched in 2009 with his indie film favorite “Moon” and continued with his polarizing 2018 Netflix original movie “Mute.” Each entry tells a different story set within the same universe. Jones’ “Moon,” starring Sam Rockwell in a dual role, was a critical favorite and has become a cult favorite over the last decade. Jones announced last summer he would complete the “Mooniverse” with a graphic novel, and now a Kickstarter has launched (via Empire) in which fans can purchase the final product and get a first look at the book.
“Madi” is billed as a “260-page road trip graphic novel” from Jones and writer Alex de Campi. The two collaborators partnered with artists such as Glenn Fabry,...

Lobo is coming to Krypton season 2 to frag some bastiches. Here's everything you need to know about The Main Man.
Krypton season 2 introduces...I was going to say “most unexpected,” but Adam Strange is already here so I guess Lobo is more like one of the most unexpected characters on the show. Lobo! The Main Man! The Last Czarnian! An unkillable force of the universe with no morals and a hunger for big bounties! But there’s a big question with his inclusion in an otherwise serious show:
Are they really doing this?
Lobo is a bit of a gag character. He’s an unstoppable intergalactic bounty hunter, originally introduced by Roger Silfer, Keith Giffen, and Mike DeCarlo in the pages of Omega Men #3 back in 1983. His original background was massively different from what it would eventually become, but the hyper-competent, amoral bounty hunter element was there from the start.

Simon Furman and Geoff Senior are almost comic book royalty. Sure, they have extensive CV’s in areas such as scripting, screenwriting and advertising art, but they always come back to comic books. For love, I would wager, rather than for the financial reward. As fun as it is to work on other people’s properties, and both have done a lot of work on properties like Transformers, Dr Who, Robotech and Judge Dredd, nothing beats creating your own sandbox and playing in that. Furman and Senior have sort of done this in the past, co-creating Dragon’s Claws and the fabulous Death’s Head for Marvel. Dragon’s Claws is in many ways a spiritual forerunner of To The Death, with ideas and themes carried forward from there.

Krypton Season 2 is bringing a Constantine vet back to play Lobo.
Krypton Season 2 is introducing Lobo. He'll be played by Emmett J. Scanlan (who portrayed Jim Corrigan on Constantine) will play the ruthless bounty hunter.
Lobo was created by Keith Giffen and Roger Slifer in the pages of Omega Men back in 1983. The character made the move from generic to a parody of '90s comics, thanks to the work of Giffen, Alan Grant, and Simon Bisley in Lobo: The Last Czarnian.
Lobo is the last of his race, the Czarnians, who murdered all of his fellow Czarnians mostly for the hell of it. He has at various times been contracted to kill Santa Claus, all of his children, criminals, and to find a murderer hiding in a planet-sized brothel by pleasing all of the women there until he can complete his mission. Much like a child approached with dinosaurs and cookies, as soon as I heard about Alpha King — a new Image comic book series based on actual craft beer mascots — I screeched a little, bounced up and down, and demanded more. By some stroke of good luck I was able to speak with the legendary Brian Azzarello (100 Bullets, Hellblazer, Wonder Woman) about the process of “brewing” (ba dum ching) a story like this, which may or may not involve sitting drunk on a bar stool. Ace.
Famous Monsters. So, beer and comics are two of my favorite things in the entire world…
Brian Azzarello. Well, we have something in common! [laughs]
FM. I’m assuming your answer will be similar, but how was this project pitched to you, and what about it made you say yes?
BA. It was pitched over a bar stool! [laughs] I often agree to things I shouldn’t...

Upon first glance, The Bedford Blues Rugby ground at Goldington Road in Bedford a large, lavish ceremonial marquee by the field seemed like a wedding took place. Instead the place was a cornucopia of sketching, art, buying comics, a dash of cosplayers plus lively discussions on the four colour world.
For the past four years, Nice (short for Northants Comics International Expo), held at the Bedford Corn Exchange is seen as one of the highlights of the UK comic convention circuit. Yet, this year, it didn’t almost happen. Jeff Chahal, the organiser of the yearly event discovered that the hall wouldn’t be able to hold the convention, but fortunately a venue was found at of all places, a rugby field.
Aside from being held at a small venue, Nice 2015 proved that less is more. Things ran like clockwork as organisers ensured that attendees, who wanted to meet creators such as Garth Ennis,...

George Miller's Mad Max: Fury Road looks so insane on so many awesome levels. It's easily one of my most anticipated films of the year, and it's going to give audiences one hell of an adrenaline rush punch to the face.
DC Comics' Vertigo has collaborated with Miller on developing a couple of books for fans to enjoy. There is a hardcover book called Mad Max: Fury Road: Inspired Artists, which will feature art by 65 famous artists that were influenced by the world of Mad Max. And there's a prequel comic that will focus on four of the characters from the upcoming film.
Thanks to /Film, we have the cover art from these publications to share with you. The one above and the one directly below are the front and back covers of Mad Max: Fury Road: Inspired Artists. The third is from the comic Mad Max: Fury Road...

In recent years, comics conventions have become less about the comics creators, who crafted (and continue to craft) the characters beloved by pop culture and more about celebrity guests. Yes, it is fun to get a picture made with your favorite Star Trek captain or Doctor Who companion, but from my personal experience as well as that of con-goers and the crowded nature of big shows like San Diego and New York Comic Con, it seems like the comics have been pushed aside for “geek culture” celebrities. Some conventions might as well take out the “comic” in “comic con”. However, some shows continue to put comics and creators first, and one of them is East Coast Comicon.
East Coast Comicon began as Asbury Park Comic Con and was held in 2012 at a converted bowling alley/rock club in Asbury Park, NJ. It was founded by independent comics creator Cliff Galbraith...

This marks the first time I have ever done a Top 10 Comics list. I will have to preface this list by saying I do not read a great deal of comics. In order to keep up with movies the way I do, my time to read comics is rather limited. However, thanks in large part to starting Talking In Circles I found my way back to reading a number of series this year. So with that said here are my choices for Top 10 Comics of 2014.
10. New Avengers
Company: Marvel
Writer: Jonathan Hickman
Artist: Various
During my height of comic fandom the New Avengers debuted. I remember all the speculation over who would be on the team, and the craziness that occurred when people found out Wolverine and Spider-Man would be apart of The Avengers. Since then the team and the comic has gone though a number of changes, and I...

Dallas Comic Con's Fan Days 2014 wasn’t as hectic an event as May’s monstrous blow-out, but it still provided plenty of fun for attendees. Held back at the familiar Irving Convention Center, it was better organized than in the past and only had some minor issues.
The biggest draws of the week came from the media guests. After folks got over the disappointment of several canceled appearances, there still found plenty to do. A mini-Goonies reunion occurred with Corey Feldman and Ke Huy Quan sitting mere feet from each other. Sean Astin was in attendance as well, completing not only that partial reunion, but a Lord of the Rings one with fellow guest Elijah Wood.
Having met Corey Feldman years before at Texas Fearfest, I wanted to catch up with the busy former Lost Boy and Goonie. His new movie The M Word is about to come out on DVD for one.

Pop culture junkies are in for a treat this weekend as Fan Expo Dallas rolls out the red carpet for Dallas Comic Con's annual Fan Days. Legendary Comics has announced that they will be continuing the monster-mashing adventures of John Tower in 2014 as a monthly series under the masterful pens of writer Matt Wagner (Grendel, Sandman Mystery Theatre) and artist Simon Bisley (Lobo, Melting Pot).
The series will continue the spook-slaying shenanigans of John Tower, a centuries-old supernatural bounty hunter who is on the hunt for a collection of mysterious artifacts. Attempting to stop him from achieving his goals are the Chateau Group, a corporation that holds a diabolical influence that extends to the world's leaders that seeks the same artifacts.
The one-two punch of Wagner and Bisley is especially exciting. Grendel is one of the greatest comic series of all time, and Bisley's art has graced everything from comics to Danzig album covers, so this is the sort of pairing that makes my nerd heart sing.

Set to launch at New York Comic-Con this October, upcoming comic series 13 Coins headed out to San Diego last month with a fantastic trailer to showcase what will soon be landing on the shelves in a few months’ time.
Penned by Martin Brennan and Michael B. Jackson, the writers behind the acclaimed video game Hitman: Absolution, the series features artwork from Simon Bisley (Lobo) and Ben Templesmith (30 Days of Night). And if the trailer out of Comic-Con is anything to judge by, then this is definitely one to look forward to for fans of the medium a little later this year.

Holy Drokk, Batman! A crossover between the bat vigilante and the fascistic future policeman? Unfortunately it’s not as good as it sounds and somehow John Wagner managed to get four books out of this unlikely team-up. “The Batman/Judge Dredd Collection” features all 4 crossover stories and, bizarrely, 1 crossover story featuring Dredd and Lobo.
But how do these two disparate characters cross paths? Well, in the first story, “Judgment on Gotham”, Judge Death gets his claws on a transdimensional belt, allowing him to jump dimensions from Mega City One to judge the living in Gotham. Batman stops him (of course) and afterwards touches the belt thus transporting him to Dredd’s stomping ground. The two tango before Dredd finally gets that Batman is a good guy and then they set off to stop Death and Mean Machine.
It’s not an amazing story but it’s more or less serviceable...

Platinum Games’ Madworld was a surprise delight on the Nintendo Wii, offering up a hyper-violent, hyper-stylized black and white world rife with post-apocalyptic flair and ridiculous gore. The game followed Jack Cayman, a chainsaw-wielding Snake Plissken analogue with a costume seemingly designed by both Jack Kirby and Tom of Finland as he tore his way through an Escape from New York scenario while executing enemies with ridiculous motion-controlled fatalities. These motion controls worked surprisingly well, and added a cathartic level of immersion to the game, as you cleaved bodies in two, snapped necks like rotten twigs, and impaled punks with a swipe of the Wiimote.
The pseudo-sequel to Madworld has arrived on both Xbox 360 and Playstation 3, once again dropping players in the leather boots of Jack Cayman as he wreaks bloody havoc across a dystopian wasteland, albeit without its predecessor’s motion controls or monochromatic art style. Anarchy Reigns is...

Simon Bisley has said that the idea of John Constantine operating in the main DC Comics line is "surreal". The veteran British artist, who has frequently collaborated with Peter Milligan on the Vertigo Hellblazer title, has said that he is sceptical about the transferal of the character out of his long-running, independent series. "I don't know if it'd be the same thing," he told Comic Book Resources when asked if he would like to contribute to the new Constantine title. "I mean, of course I would do it, but I don't know if it'd be the same thing. It'd feel strange, indeed, doing Constantine in that world. It'd feel surreal. All the guts would have to come out of him. "It'd (more)...
