- I didn't want to be a rock star. That was never my goal. If it came, it came. When it did I said 'This is creepy. This better be worth it because this is really creeping me out.'
- I hate picking favorites because I have such a wide variety of taste and I don't like to leave anybody out. If you ask me my list of 50 favorite guitarists, my list would still be shy of a couple of really important people. But as a blanket statement, I'd say Squirrel Nut Zippers are my favorite band.
- I got a really small, cheap guitar from my cousin when I was thirteen or fourteen, and I took a year of guitar in high school, and that's were I first started learning and playing. At the time, I was into the Cars and the Cure, punk and new wave, and British music. Everyone else in my guitar class was into Iron Maiden and Black Sabbath and Jimi Hendrix. That's all stuff that I've grown to love, but they liked it before I did. I was like the art fag in the class. But I didn't care, I just liked learning the guitar.
- All hail the sound of the universal vacuum.
