Just try to a find TV lawyer more cutthroat than Patty Hewes, the Glenn Close character who toggled between protagonist and antagonist on the critically acclaimed TV show Damages. When Damages premiered on July 24, 2007—15 years ago now!—we learned just how ruthless Patty could be, as did her protégée, Ellen Parsons (Rose Byrne). But over the course of the legal thriller’s five seasons—split between FX and the now-defunct Audience Network—Ellen leveled the playing field and Patty started paying the price for her many misdeeds. And now, a decade and a half after the show’s debut, here are the Damages shockers we remember most. The Statue of Liberty kills David Ok, a Statue of Liberty bookend was the weapon that a hitman used on Ellen’s fiancé, David (Noah Bean), in a flash-forward in Damages’ series premiere. And even though Ellen was covered in her love’s blood,...

When you’re dealing with a criminal mastermind that rivals the levels of Carmen Sandiego, you have to be smart. And for “The Endgame” star Ryan Michelle Bathé, the intelligence required of her character Val Turner is the best part of playing her.
The NBC series centers on FBI agent Turner as she attempts to sort out and thwart Elena Federova’s (Morena Baccarin) mastermind criminal plan. The thing about Elena is, she plays the long game. Her plans are intricate, and the clues she gives Val are subtle. But so far, Val is the only agent who’s been able to truly keep up.
Turner is a heroine who’s more than just a brave woman resolved to figure it out as she goes. She has to be tactical. And for the actress playing her, that’s the draw of the character.

Talk about a fashionable entrance. NBC’s The Endgame series premiere begins with criminal mastermind Elena Federova (played by Gotham‘s Morena Baccarin) being detained in a giant box, out of which she exits wearing a fabulous blue gown.
The American authorities have brought Elena in — or kidnapped her, as she calls it — on 105 federal charges stemming from her mercenary operations, dubbed Snow White. At the same time, a bank is robbed, during which a note is found: “Bow to the queen.” Elena hands the attorney general a piece of paper, instructing him to check his pocket, which contains another note: “I’m the queen.

"Federova's plan is bigger than the banks." NBC has unveiled an official trailer for The Endgame, a new heist thriller series from creators Jake Coburn and Nicholas Wootton. We're breaking our usual no-tv rules to feature this because so many series are being made for streaming these days, and because this is directed by a major movie director - Justin Lin, of Better Luck Tomorrow, Tokyo Drift, Star Trek Beyond, and F9: The Fast Saga most recently. Endgame is high-stakes thriller about Elena Federova, a very recently captured international arms dealer and brilliant criminal mastermind who even in captivity orchestrates a number of coordinated bank heists, and Val Turner, the principled, relentless and socially outcast FBI agent who will stop at nothing to foil her ambitious plan. Morena Baccarin and Ryan Michelle Bathé star as Elena & Val, with Costa Ronin, Kelly AuCoin, Noah Bean, Jordan Johnson-Hinds, Kamal Angelo Bolden, and Mark D. Espinoza.

As you’ll recall, the Season 5 premiere ended with Detective Lou Ransome (Sasha Roiz) going to Hudson’s lawyer’s house to protect her, only for her to turn on him after he’d put the rapist in his car. The lawyer slit Ransome’s throat, and it seems we have an update on his condition in this clip. “He’s been in the hospital for nearly five days. How is it that no one noticed that he was missing?” Athena says to Captain Elaine Maynard (Claudia Christian). “He might not wake up again.” He’s not mentioned by name,...

(Warning: This post contains spoilers for the Season 5 premiere of “9-1-1.”)
The 118 is back for a new season of Fox’s “9-1-1” and that means a new giant multi-episode emergency. But instead of a natural disaster, which showrunner Tim Minear told TheWrap (with a laugh) he’s “starting to run thin on,” the chaos ensued because of a ransomware attack that has plunged Los Angeles into a blackout and taken vital systems offline.
The drama began with tonight’s Season 5 premiere, “Panic,” and will continue for Athena (Angela Bassett) Bobby (Peter Krause), Chimney (Kenneth Choi), Buck (Oliver Stark), Eddie (Ryan Guzman) and Hen (Aisha Hinds) as they try to keep protecting LA after its been plunged into darkness for the next two episodes of “9-1-1.”

It’s been a week of grief and mourning for Helen (Lyndsy Fonseca) after finding her husband Wells (Noah Bean) dead by suicide at their secluded cabin. She’s dealing with his absence like anyone would by closing off spaces they shared together in hopes of avoiding too many easy triggers for memories that only bring sadness. Work should distract her during the day and Wells’ business partner Tomas (Glenn Morshower) continuing their secretive scientific research should honor his legacy. This doesn’t mean she’ll forget him, forgive him, or stop blaming herself for missing the signs of his pain, but they say life will eventually go on. What they don’t say, however, is that you just might awaken one morning with no recollection of multiple days since you fell asleep.
They don’t because that doesn’t happen in the real world — at least not without the help of some heavy drugs.

"Why do you think Wells was so secretive about his work?" Screen Media has unveiled a trailer for indie sci-fi thriller Curvature, which premiered at the Sitges Film Festival last year. This time travel film follows a young engineer named Helen Phillips, played by Lyndsy Fonseca (who you will recognize from Kick-Ass or "Agent Carter"), distraught by her husband's suicide. He had been developing a time travel prototype. She wakes up one morning and gets a phone call from herself, which sets things in motion as she tries to figure out what's going on. Co-starring Linda Hamilton, Glenn Morshower, Alex Lanipekun, Zach Avery, Noah Bean. I saw this at Sitges and unfortunately it's not good. It has all the right ingredients, including a cool-looking time travel machine, but just doesn't amount to much and is instantly forgettable. Check it out. Here's the first official trailer (+ poster) for Diego Hallivis' Curvature,...
