Donah Bassett(1927-2010)

Born Donah June Polk in Shawnee, Oklahoma. Her mother moved her to
California in 1928. Donah studied art thru high school and community
college in Santa Monica, California. She began a career in the Film
Industry in 1954, working as a film technician at Technicolor Film
Laboratory. She then moved to MGM to become a Negative Film Cutter in
1966 and to Universal Studios in 1971. In 1976, Ms. Bassett founded
Donah Bassett & Associates, a Negative Cutting company. She maintained
offices at Technicolor, MGM, Consolidated Film Industries and Deluxe
Laboratories, contracting with all the major film studios. Her career
brought her to work with Film Directors and Cinematographers that were
the cream of the film artists. Names like Coppola, Scorsese, Friedkin,
Caleb Deschnel, Vittorio Storaro, and Steven Spielberg, just to name a
few. Her passion for art and a career in film have prepared Donah for
performing her best, on canvas.
Now a resident of Phoenix, Arizona, she has studied painting with Tom Haas, Joni Falk, Heidi Moran, Maxine Johnson and Jane Wingfield at local workshops associated with The Scottsdale Art School. Donah's paintings reflect her love of nature and light. She has shown her work in numerous exhibitions and Galleries in California and Arizona.
