[This story contains spoilers from the first season of The New Look.]
The first season of Apple TV+’s The New Look ends with Christian Dior (Ben Mendelsohn) debuting his revolutionary 1947 collection that would be dubbed “the new look” by Harper’s Bazaar editor-in-chief Carmel Snow (Glenn Close). The show then quickly flashes forward through some of the Dior brand’s iconic looks over the decades, which seems to suggest that the series is done with Dior’s story.
But creator Todd A. Kessler tells The Hollywood Reporter that he has a long runway planned for the series, which has yet to be officially renewed for a second season. A potential season two would continue to focus on Dior and Coco Chanel (Juliette Binoche) before subsequent seasons would stay with the Dior brand as it was inherited by Yves Saint Laurent.

Editor’s Note: The following post contains spoilers for “The New Look” Episode 9.
With the penultimate episode of “The New Look” comes the end of the road for Elsa Lombardi (Emily Mortimer), one of the most fascinating and fictionalized characters in Todd Kessler’s Apple TV+ series. After a fight with Coco (Juliette Binoche), a critical interaction with Spatz (Claes Bang), and a fatal overdose, Elsa is found dead while Coco weeps over her body.
But a quick scan of history reveals that Elsa Lombardi never existed. According to Kessler, Mortimer’s character is an amalgam of two figures in Chanel’s life, fused for narrative purposes to serve the series. One of those is the French-Polish musician Misia Sert, who met Chanel in 1917, and the other is British socialite Vera Lombardi, whose lifestyle inspired the House of Chanel.

Nick Cave has released a cover of Édith Piaf’s 1940s hit “La Vie En Rose,” which appears on Jack Antonoff’s soundtrack for the Apple TV+ series The New Look. Stream it below.
On the Antonoff-produced piano cover, Cave takes on the French singer’s signature track in English, giving it a new dimension as he delivers the tender ballad in his distinct voice: “When you speak, angels sing from above/ Everyday words, they turn into love songs.”
Cave’s version of “La Vie En Rose” follows Lana Del Rey’s take on Irving Berlin’s “Blue Skies,” Florence + The Machine’s cover of “White Cliffs of Dover,” and The 1975’s rendition of “Now Is the Hour.”
You can catch the first five episodes of The New Look now. Filmed in Paris, the series centers around Christian Dior, Coco Chanel, and their contemporaries as they launch modern fashion after World War II.

Plot:: This emotionally thrilling series reveals the shocking story of how fashion icon Christian Dior and his contemporaries, including Coco Chanel, Pierre Balmain, and Cristóbal Balenciaga navigated the horrors of World War Il and launched modern fashion.
Review: Fashion design has found great success as fodder for reality series and romantic comedies. Films like The Devil Wears Prada, Robert Altman’s Pret-a-Porter, and Ryan Murphy’s limited series Halston have looked at the intricacies of the fashion world, mostly from a contemporary standpoint. Florence + The Machine are back with their rendition of “White Cliffs of Dover,” the first single from Jack Antonoff’s official soundtrack for the forthcoming Apple TV+ series The New Look.
The New Look centers around Christian Dior (Ben Mendelsohn), Coco Chanel (Juliette Binoche), and their contemporaries as they navigate the fashion industry in a post-World War II climate. And so it makes sense for Florence Welch and company to put their own spin on “White Cliffs of Dover,” a 1941 song made famous by Vera Lynn to boost morale amid a war-torn Britain.
Produced by Antonoff, The New Look soundtrack comprises mid-twentieth century songs covered by contemporary artists including Lana Del Rey, The 1975, Nick Cave, Beabadoobee, and, of course, Antonoff’s Bleachers. See the full tracklist and stream Florence + The Machine’s version of “White Cliffs of Dover” below.

The two A-listers join previously announced stars Cooper Koch and Nicholas Alexander Chavez in the upcoming season of the anthology series, which will focus on the Menéndez brothers. The season is officially titled “Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menéndez Story” and is slated to debut later in 2024.
Erik (Koch) and Lyle Menéndez (Chavez) were convicted of the murders of their parents, José (Bardem) and Mary Louise “Kitty” Menéndez (Sevigny), in 1996. Authorities argued the brothers committed the murders to inherit their father’s fortune, while the brothers maintained that they killed their parents after years of mental and physical abuse.
“Monster” was co-created by Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan. Both serve as executive producers along with Alexis Martin Woodall, Eric Kovtun, David McMillan, Louise Shore, and Carl Franklin. The first season focused on serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer.

Despite the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike, sales agents and distributors are convening in Santa Monica this week in the hopes of reconnecting with buyers and kicking off deal discussions at the American Film Market.
After an underwhelming Toronto Film Festival, which saw little deal activity, there’s hope that a few of the starry packages being shopped at AFM will get picked up. But given the climate in Hollywood, many projects won’t officially hit the market until February at the European Film Market in Berlin. The marketplace is not only strained by the strike but the shifting appetites and belt-tightening at the major studios and streamers. At the same time, the return of buyers from China to AFM after several years away is seen as a positive sign.

Emily Carey of House of the Dragon, Claes Bang of the recent Dracula mini-series, and Suki Waterhouse of Daisy Jones & the Six have signed on to star in the psychological thriller Walk With Me, which will pit them against “a nightmarish creature from Celtic mythology”. According to Deadline, this is a European co-production with a European cast and will be filming in Europe sometime in early 2024 – so it’s not being made under a SAG contract and will be able to go into production if the Screen Actors Guild strike is still going on by then.
Jonny Blair (River City) will be directing Walk With Me from a screenplay by Benjamin Farry (Cosmos Within Us). Here’s the synopsis: Teenager Ellie (Carey) struggles to connect with her emotionally distant father Simon (Bang) who has raised her alone since her mother died in childbirth. When he announces their move to a remote rural cottage,...
