One of my favorite animated shows to watch in the 90's besides Batman: The Animated Series and Gargoyles, was Animaniacs. That show was hilarious and it always made me laugh. I've been watching the series with my kids on Netflix and they're loving it.
It looks like we haven't seen the last of the Warner Brothers and their sister Dot because Steven Spielberg is working with Amblin Television and Warner Bros. to reboot the classic cartoon series.
According to IndieWire, the series has experienced a "new surge in popularity since arriving on Netflix last year" and that popularity prompted the reboot. I'm excited about this and worried at the same time. It could be awesome to see these characters come back and see what zany new adventures they find themselves in. Of course, there's the chance that the updated series won't live up to the greatness of the original.

Hellloooo, nurse: It’s time for “Animaniacs” – again!
Amblin Television and Warner Bros. Animation are kicking around a brand new version of the hit 1990s cartoon, IndieWire has learned. The potential reboot comes as “Animaniacs” has experienced a new surge in popularity since arriving on Netflix last year. Steven Spielberg, who developed the original as a follow-up to the success of his “Tiny Toon Adventures,” is expected to be on board in crafting the updated version.
There’s no home yet for “Animaniacs,” and insiders caution that it’s still in the early stages of development. But 1990s nostalgia is big business these days – witness the success of another Warner Bros. TV title, “Fuller House,” which is one of the most-watched originals on Netflix.
“Animaniacs” ran for 99 episodes – from 1993 to 1995 on Fox Kids, before moving to Kids’ WB from 1995 to 1998. It also spawned the primetime spinoff “Pinky and the Brain,...

Already boasting a stable of artists that makes other studios green with envy, Gang of Seven Animation (aka G-7 Animation for those of you in the know) will now have a serious pile of scratch to go along with their impressive roster, thanks to a partnership with the Chinese government.
Tom Tataranowicz, a veteran of the animation industry and the big cheese at G-7, dropped the information yesterday, as well as what some of the plans were to do with this funding. Aside from a film reboot of the 90's television series "Biker Mice From Mars," Gang of Seven Animation is also currently working on CGI animated versions of Frankenstein and the graphic novel Freak Show. Legendary illustrator Bernie Wrightson is currently tagged as production designer on the latter project.
It certainly looks like some serious entertainment will be rolling out from G7 Animation in the near future. Stay tuned!

Last November, it was announced that L. Frank Baum’s The Life and Adventures of Santa Claus was to be adapted into a “CG based” feature, to be directed by Tom Tataranowicz, Rich Arons and Dick Sebast. The selling point was that Baum’s Santa was the hero of a huge, epic fantasy battle story, not just a chuckling, portly old codger that judged our kids and let his reindeer traipse all over our private property. I’m thinking Gandalf after a few hundred thousand mine pies.
Variety told us that production on that film was to get underway last November at an animation studio in India.
Of course, these things always come in little clusters, so when I read today that another Santa epic was on the way, I was hardly surprised. Variety tell us The Legend of Santa Claus will be directed by Colin Brady from a script by Tab Murphy,...

It’s nice to see people remember that L. Frank Baum wrote stories featuring characters other than the Wonderful Wizard of Oz. In fact, he also tackled someone even more impressive: Santa Claus.
Variety reports that Hyde Park Entertainment will team with Toonz Entertainment to adapt The Life and Adventures of Santa Claus as a CGI-animated film, similar to the just-announced John Boorman-directed interpretation of Oz. And like the oft-adapted Oz, this one will be coming for Christmas 2010.
Tom Tataranowicz, president of Gang of 7 Animation, will direct alongside Rich Arons, and Dick Sebast. Tataranowicz co-wrote the script with animation veteran Mark Edward Edens (Hot Wheels, Sonic, Young Hercules). The film is being produced at the Toonz Animation Studio in India.
The trade describes the story as following “Santa's formative years, including a battle against the heart of evil that establishes the Santa mythology.” There’s a lot more to...
