In his latest interview/podcast, host Stuart Wright talks with Toby Tobias about his directorial feature debut Blood Orange that stars rock legend Iggy Pop, alongside Kacey Barnfield and Ben Lamb.
In a stunning modern Spanish Villa lives Bill (Iggy Pop) an aging, half-blind rock star with his young, very beautiful and sexually promiscuous wife Isabelle (Kacey Barnfield). Into their Ibizan paradise comes Lucas (Ben Lamb), an ex-lover looking for revenge. Lucas wants his inheritance back; he believes she stole it from him, but Isabelle will give him nothing. Bill asks Lucas to stay and to make peace with Isabelle, but really he has another agenda – he has a plan… Meanwhile, Lucas is already torn up inside with the desire for revenge, and when he sees how Isabelle is having one of her flings with David their Spanish ‘pool boy’ he sees an opportunity to turn the tables and things spiral dangerously out of control.

Iggy Pop watches over a troupe of troubled circus performers in the stark new trailer for the French film, Starlight. The Sophie Blondy-directed film first made the festival rounds in 2013 and will arrive on Blu-Ray and video-on-demand May 9th.
Pop plays an angel-type figure who appears throughout the film as the members of the failing circus company find themselves embroiled in feuds and love triangles on the shores of the North Sea. As the troupe struggles to attract an audience, they split into warring factions with the ballerina Angele,...

The veteran punk plays to type as a reclusive wild man of rock
The screen presence of rock legend Iggy Pop is magnetic. With his six-cylinder growl of a voice and his bourbon and fag ash complexion, he doesn’t need to deliver much in the way of a performance. Which is fortunate, because in this sun-baked erotic thriller, he doesn’t. Playing shotgun-wielding reclusive rock star Bill, Pop is on familiar territory. There is only a fraction of a degree of separation between the character and the actor, which is one of the reasons why it is so much fun to watch.
An entertainingly oversexed chamber piece with echoes of A Bigger Splash or La Piscine, the film unpeels layers of intrigue along with the clothes of its cast. It’s a promising debut for first-time director Toby Tobias.

Iggy Pop reportedly rescued an injured stray cat when shooting an upcoming movie in Ibiza.
The Stooges frontman plays an ailing rock 'n' roll legend in Toby Tobias's Blood Orange, which shot last year.
"The film really hinges on his character," Tobias told Metro of Iggy's lead role, describing him as "a revelation".
"He's the man with the plan and his combination of deep cool and natural charisma really shines through on camera."
He added: "He was such a gentleman and a consummate professional with a deadly sense of humour.
"He had a huge amount to take on board, both physically and mentally, and yet he always had time for every member of the crew.
"He even found the time to rescue an injured stray cat!"
Iggy has had previous acting experience, featuring in horror sequel The Crow: City of Angels, Jim Jarmusch's Coffee and Cigarettes and Tank Girl,...
