- Her first appearance in the theater was in 1895 in Cottbus, Germany. Over the next few years she appeared in various cities around Germany. Finally, in 1901, she played in Berlin, the heart of the German theatrical scene.
- Between 1921-30 she appeared in a variety of German films, mostly as an elderly woman. Her most important performance would probably be as Queen Ute in Die Nibelungen: Siegfried (1924), directed by Fritz Lang.
- She became a much-in-demand stage actress, specializing in classic roles.
