The BBC sitcom Terry & June is available to stream unedited in full, but a warning at the start of it has left one MP demanding his country back.
Starring June Whitfield and Terry Scott, the BBC sitcom Terry & June was a big hit for the corporation, particularly in the 1980s. It debuted in 1979, ran through until 1987, and the show has been made available to stream in full via the BritBox service.
To the best of my knowledge, not a single frame of the show has been edited or altered. In spite of if being a programme very much of its time, the decision has been made to leave the material in tact, and instead just add a warning at the start.
This seems a decent way of doing things. Retrospectively censoring material to modern sensitivities is a dangerous and evolving path. Letting people wander unwarned into family-targeted viewing...

Exclusive: Ofcom has delayed publishing research on politicians presenting news shows until the UK media regulator has reached crucial rulings on Gb News.
Ofcom committed to publishing the audience study last year but the regulator has told Deadline that it will now hold back the findings until completing its work on Gb News.
A spokesperson said: “Our research project is ongoing and not yet complete. We will publish it in due course. Our first priority is to conclude the live investigations.”
As detailed in a Deadline analysis on Gb News’ regulation, Ofcom has five live investigations into whether the channel broke a UK broadcasting rule that forbids sitting MPs from presenting news shows.
Rule 5.3 of Ofcom’s Broadcasting Code states: “No politician may be used as a newsreader, interviewer or reporter in any news programmes unless, exceptionally, it is editorially justified.”
The investigations concern Gb News broadcasts between May 12 and...

Like it or loath it, Gb News is a trailblazer.
The news station, backed by Brexit-supporting billionaire Paul Marshall, crash-landed on British screens in June 2021, but overcame tech and studio fails to establish itself as a genuine force, with a loyal following of around 3M viewers a month and an ability to set the agenda — if not always for the right reasons.
The channel provoked Rupert Murdoch into launching TalkTV and forced Sky News, the established commercial leader, into a major rethink of its schedule. Gb News is now the channel of choice for over half of Tory party members, the people who picked Britain’s prime minister in 2022. Former Pm Boris Johnson will join its presenting ranks as early as this month, Deadline hears.
In securing this foothold, Gb News’ brand of opinionated broadcasting has begun to reinvent the idea of a news channel in the UK. It has...

Laurence Fox’s highly misogynistic rant on Dan Wootton Tonight, which led to the actor and politician’s firing from Gb News, was Ofcom’s most-complained-about TV show of the year in 2023.
The episode in September, in which Fox ranted about journalist Ava Evans – saying no “self-respecting man would climb into bed with her” – narrowly beat complaints around Bridgerton star Adjoah Andoh’s comments during King Charles III’s Coronation to the top spot of the regulator’s annual list.
Fox was fired from Gb News following the rant, which generated nationwide headlines and amassed a total of 8,867 complaints, ahead of Andoh by around 200.
Ofcom investigated almost immediately due to the severity of the breach and it is one of a dozen Gb News shows that have been or are being probed by the regulator this year, with five already found to be in breach. Fox, who regularly featured on...

This article contains spoilers for A Murder at the End of the World episode 7.
The marketing material for FX‘s A Murder at the End of the World describes it as “a mystery series with a new kind of detective at the helm.” That detective is lead character Darby Hart (Emma Corin) and she is indeed a new kind of sleuth. Darby is the consummate Gen-z investigator. She is obsessed with true crime, has elite hacking skills, and likes skinny Midwestern boys with tattoos.
But focusing on all the ways in which Darby is different from your typical detective can distract from the ways in which she’s the same. Namely: she’s really good at this stuff – like Sherlock Holmes-level good. After people start dying at the retreat hosting by reclusive tech billionaire Andy Ronson (Clive Owen), there’s really no question for the audience as to whether...

A Murder at the End of the World creators Brit Marling and Zal Batmanglij are a resilient duo. Instead of letting disappointment linger, the longtime creative partners quickly rebounded after the cancellation of their beloved genre-bender The Oa and channeled its many profound takeaways into their next story. The Netflix series struck a deep chord in viewers around the world, and seeing firsthand the community and energy that had formed around their work, Marling and Batmanglij further trusted their storytelling instincts until a new name rose to the top of their collective mind: Darby Hart.
Their FX on Hulu limited series chronicles past-and-present Darby (Emma Corrin), who’s an amateur sleuth turned true-crime author. She combines the hacking and investigative skills of Mr. Robot’s Elliot Alderson and Girl with the Dragon Tattoo’s Lisbeth Salander, with the death-adjacent upbringing of Six Feet Under‘s Claire Fisher. Despite those familiar comps,...

FX’s new murder mystery series A Murder at the End of the World follows Darby Hart (The Crown’s Emma Corrin), an amateur sleuth and tech-savvy hacker affectionately referred to as a Gen Z Sherlock Holmes. One of nine guests invited to a billionaire’s remote estate, Darby’s skills are put to the test when one of the guests is murdered.
Episode one of the seven-episode limited series opens with Darby presenting the true crime memoir she wrote, The Silver Doe, to a bookstore audience. A bit awkward and shy, she begins to tell them about a murder victim. It’s obvious she was obsessed with the case, drawn to it in part because she’s the coroner’s daughter.

We are at a place where humanity exists between two spheres. The “real world” is our tangible environment. We can touch things, unpacking textures, tastes and scents. And then, there is another world. Though artificial, and born of the internet and technology, AI is more life-like than ever. Innovation, after all, is infinite. While many of us glide between both sectors, Gen Z and the Alpha generation are coming of age, having only ever been interconnected and heavily online. For better or for worse, this way of living will affect human beings until it all goes dark.
For Darby Hart (a captivating Emma Corrin), the character at the center of creators/directors Brit Marling and Zal Batmanglij’s ominous but wholly fascinating “A Murder at the End of the World,” tech and the internet are lifelines. Raised by her single father, a coroner in the tiny town of Lost Nation,...

Laurence Fox’s Gb News show, in which stand-in presenter Martin Daubney interviewed Reform Party leader Richard Tice about the hot-button small boats issue, has become the latest to be found in breach by Ofcom.
The regulator has rapped Gb News once again for “due impartiality” issues, following an interview between Daubney and Tice that was deemed to be “insufficiently challenged,” with the “limited alternative views presented dismissed,” according to today’s ruling.
During the program, right-wing commentator Daubney, standing in for Fox, gave his views on the topic of immigration and asylum policy, in the context of controversy over small boats crossing the English Channel. He also interviewed the leader of the Reform Party, Tice, which was flagged up by complainants to Ofcom.
“We considered that immigration and asylum policy constituted a matter of major political controversy and a major matter relating to current public policy,” Ofcom said. “When dealing with major matters,...

The Laurence Fox rant on Dan Wootton Tonight is now comfortably the most complained about broadcast of the past two years while complaints have come flooding in for yet another Gb News show, Lee Anderson’s interview with Home Secretary Suella Braverman.
Another 1,500 complaints have been filed to regulator Ofcom over Fox’s rant, bringing the total close to 9,000 and meaning the edition has now totted up the most complaints since an episode of Love Island in August 2021, which attracted nearly 25,000.
The Dan Wootton Tonight episode, which has seen both Wootton and Fox suspended and Ofcom open an immediate investigation, featured Fox making highly misogynistic comments about female political journalist Ava Evans. He claimed no “self-respecting man” would “climb into bed” with her, while Wootton could be heard laughing before he later apologized on social media. Wootton has also had his MailOnline column terminated. Evans has said she has received multiple threats on social media.

Carol Vorderman has been rounding up a long list of Conservative MPs and councillors who do not say which political party they represent on their social media profiles.
The former Countdown statistician asked her 739,000 followers to screenshot the profiles of any Tory politicians who were hiding their party from their socials.
“I Want Your Help,” she tweeted on Monday (3 April). “I’ve noticed a number of Tory MPs and councillors removing mention of them being Tories from their social media profiles.
“I’d like to collate them and do some statistical work on this (you know I like numbers!).
“Can You Screenshot Any You Find And Post Here?”
Vorderman pointed out that politicians from other political parties do display their allegiance on their profiles.
The Independent has checked the social accounts of all 31 politicians in Labour’s shadow cabinet, and every single one has a prominent mention of their party...
