Angel Oak Films has finalised a raft of sales including North America, Latin America and Spain on upcoming Aaron Eckhart and Terrence Howard dramatic thriller Afterward.
The new Los Angeles and Brussels-based production outfit headed by Pascal Borno and Alain Gillissen has licensed North and Latin American rights to Grindstone Entertainment Group.
Deals have closed in Spain (YouPlanet), Middle East (Eagle Films), Italy (Adler Entertainment), and Portugal (Lusomundo). Al Munteanu’s SquareOne acquired German rights in an anchor deal early in the process.

Cineville has attached writer-director Dito Montiel to the independent dramatic thriller “Afterward,” Variety has learned exclusively.
Production is planned to start in the spring of 2019. Producers are Thomas D. Adelman, production manager on “The Usual Suspects”; Elizabeth Gast Napolitano; Frederic Demey (“Female Fight Squad”) and Carl Colpaert.
The story centers on a father’s struggle to deal with the passing of his daughter, which leads him on a quest for truth and justice against corruption and small town politics.
Montiel made his feature directorial debut on 2006’s “A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints,” followed by “Fighting,” “The Son of No One,” “Empire State,” “Boulevard,” “Man Down,” and “The Clapper.”

Moviehouse’s Cannes slate includes recent animation addition A Giant Adventure, which will feature the voices of John Goodman and Kelsey Grammar.
Goodman will play lumberjack Paul Bunyan who teams up with two adventurous kids to rescue a town from the developer’s evil clutches in this modern tale.
The deal was negotiated by Toonz Media Group CEO Kumar together with Moviehouse’ Managing Director, Mark Vennis and cements Moviehouse’s relationship with Toonz, which also produced upcoming Magnolia Us release The Hero Of Colour City, also sold by Moviehouse.
The film, which will be released in North America by Cinedigm, is produced in conjunction with U.S. animation company Exodus Film Group, whose principals, John Eraklis and Max Howard, will serve as producers together with Toonz’ CEO P. Jaya Kumar.

Danny DeVito will direct Saoirse Ronan, Morgan Freeman and Pierce Brosnan in the family adventure "The True Confessions of Charlotte Doyle."
Although he will not appear onscreen, DeVito has written the screenplay based on the novel by the author who writes under the name Avi. The 19th century-set tale centers on a young girl (Ronan) who joins in a shipboard rebellion.
Ronan, who earned an Oscar nomination for "Atonement," will next be seen in "City of Ember" and "The Lovely Bones." Freeman appears in "Wanted," and Brosnan will be seen in "Mamma Mia!" which opens Friday.
HandMade Films is financing along with Plaza Productions International, a New York-based property and hotel group that is part of Isaac Tshuva's El-Ad U.S. Holding. The full lineup of production entities involved also includes DeVito's new banner Jersey Films 2nd Avenue (a successor company to his Jersey Films), Freeman's Revelations Entertainment and Brosnan's Irish DreamTime.
Michele Weisler, Lori McCreary, Beau St. Clair and Patrick Meehan will serve as producers with Thomas D. Adelman and Hawk Koch as exec producers. Koch also will serve as line producer.
