Franchises are always a big hit in the film industry because they’re a pretty safe bet for success. Audiences love getting hooked on stories and characters, following them on different adventures. But after a while, it can get old if there’s no good planning. Sometimes, it’s really about knowing when to wrap things up.
Matt Damon as Jason Bourne (Credits: Universal Pictures)
However, it can be tough when fans don’t want to let go. Bourne is a perfect example of this. To bring the story back, though, the cast has to be on board. But in this case, the director and lead actor weren’t all that excited, so it took some nudging and persistence from others. Even so, in the end, it was really the fans who made it happen.

Incoming is full of shit — well, one scene is, anyway. The high school comedy, which starts streaming on Netflix on Friday, concerns some uncool male buddies starting their freshman year and trying to navigate the first blowout party of their young lives. In one sequence, a couple of the friends, through some crazy circumstances, end up driving their school’s most gorgeous girl home. She’s really drunk, though, and, well, let’s just say an impromptu trip to Taco Bell turns out not to be a good idea at all. The result is one of the most revolting gross-out scenes in modern comedy. It’s a moment that the writer-director brothers Dave and John Chernin have had in their back pocket, waiting for the right opportunity.
“Man, that was an idea that we’ve had for a long time,” Dave, 39, says over Zoom, laughing. “We didn’t quite know...

Damien Thorn is the antichrist, and the trilogy that tells his unholy tale remains popular almost fifty years later. Indeed, while putting together this Omen movie ranked list and revisiting the original franchise, I was surprised at how well the old movies held up. Omen fans will be happy that the series has been restarted in a pretty interesting way earlier this year, with The First Omen a surprisingly excellent prequel to the original trilogy (check out our interviews with the director and cast here), even if it takes one large liberty involving Damien’s birth that some fans may have an issue with. So, how do the Omen films rank against each other? Let’s take a look, but remember that the Fox TV movie, Omen IV: The Awakening, is not included, as I’m sticking with feature films.
The Omen (2006):
There’s honestly no reason for this movie to exist.

When Ilana Wolpert was studying English literature at the prestigious Duke University, she never imagined that one of her first loves – Shakespeare – would lead directly to writing R-rated movies.
But the writer found her life changed when she took a screenwriting class in her senior year, and her love for the classics led her to adapt Shakespeare's Much Ado About Nothing into a contemporary rom-com. The enemies-to-lovers romance became Anyone But You, and it's coming to streamers this Tuesday.
What's It About?
Ben and Bea meet in a coffee shop and form an instant connection. They spend a perfect day together – but the next morning their wires get crossed, their defenses go up, and they both blame each other for the relationship failing.
Six months later, Bea's sister is getting married. Ben's connection to the family means that they end up on the same flight, and start pushing each other's buttons right away.

“Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire” dominated the domestic box office again, looming large over newcomers “Monkey Man” and “The First Omen.”
Warner Bros. and Legendary Entertainment’s monster tentpole added $31.7 million from 3,948 theaters in its second weekend of release. Ticket sales dropped a standard (for a tentpole of its size and scale) 60% from its mighty $80 million debut and stand at $132 million domestically and $361 million globally.
First-time director Dev Patel’s action thriller “Monkey Man” nabbed second place with $10.1 million from 3,029 venues, while Disney and 20th Century’s supernatural prequel “The First Omen” trailed at the No. 4 spot with a muted $8.4 million from 3,375 locations.

“Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire” is poised to stomp all over the box office competition… again.
After its better-than-expected debut, Warner Bros. and Legendary Entertainment’s monster tentpole has generated $95 million domestically and $210 worldwide to date. Now, “Godzilla x Kong” looks to add $32 million to $36 million in its second weekend of release. Those ticket sales, down roughly 55% from its opening, will easily be enough to lead over two newcomers, director Dev Patel’s action-thriller “Monkey Man” and Disney and 20th Century’s supernatural prequel “The First Omen.”
“Monkey Man” is targeting $12 million to start, while “The First Omen” is projected to pull ahead with $14 million to $15 million. Holdovers, including “Kung Fu Panda 4,” “Dune: Part Two” and “Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire,” will otherwise round out box office charts.

The 10 Things I Hate About You cast probably didn’t know it then, but the actors in the 1999 teen rom-com would get their breakout role. In the 25 years since its release, 10 Things I Hate About You has become a cult classic and a career highlight for its actors.
On the surface, 10 Things I Hate About You doesn’t sound like a recipe for success. A William Shakespeare play reworked into a teen comedy featuring a cast of mostly unknown actors? Critics didn’t fall head over heels for it in 1999, but the movie’s appeal has grown over time and attracted new generations of fans (even if sequel plans failed). And if the 10 Things I Hate About You cast was unknown then, now there is no mistaking the talent of stars like Julia Stiles, Heath Ledger, and Joseph Gordon-Levitt.

The season of the very first sign of the zodiac is here, and that’s exactly why being a leader comes so easy for Aries folks.
And that’s no joke, Aries really don’t know what else to be but a boss, CEO or innovator, because they’d rather play by their own rules. They march to the beat of their own drum and rarely ever need anyone to play backup instrumentals. Their charm, playful personality and great sense of humor make up for their impulsiveness and sometimes hot-temper, and there’s absolutely no other sign who will keep it all the way real with you like an Aries does, even if it’s something you don’t want to hear. They tell it like it is, as dishonesty goes against their entire m.o.

It’s a big year for Sony’s Spider-Man-adjacent comic book universe. The year started with Madame Web connecting them all – and this summer, we’ll see Aaron Taylor-Johnson make his debut as the title character of J.C. Chandor’s Kraven The Hunter. And beyond that, there’s a third film to come from the ‘Spumc’ (as it was once known) in 2024 – Tom Hardy’s third outing as Venom. Now, some fresh details have emerged about what’s in store.
The film has received the official title Venom: The Last Dance – a title that indicates a possible trilogy-capping final chapter. Or, perhaps, a Magic Mike-esque bout of male stripping. Perhaps even both. The film – both written and directed by Kelly Marcel, who co-wrote on Venom and Venom: Let There Be Carnage – also has a new release date, set to hit screens on 25 October. The Exorcist sequel, The Exorcist: Believer, didn’t wow horror fans or critics in 2022. 20th Century Studios is hoping for a better reception for their The Omen prequel, The First Omen. The minute-long official trailer suggests that “to control those who don’t believe, create something to fear.” That warning comes as snippets of nuns, priests, and other characters are shown moving in reverse.
The first trailer’s release was accompanied by the debut of the teaser poster.
Servant‘s Nell Tiger Free stars in the psychological horror film, which is based on characters created in The Omen by author David Seltzer. The cast also includes Tawfeek Barhom (Mary Magdalene), Sonia Braga (Kiss of the Spider Woman), Ralph Ineson (The Northman), and Bill Nighy (Living).

Evil is unleashed in the first trailer for The First Omen, a prequel to 1976’s classic horror film The Omen.
It’s always hard to scare people with just a trailer, isn’t it? You need to communicate a sense of terror or include a couple of jump scares to get people interested in booking tickets, but I have to be honest here. The First Omen takes the cake with how it chooses to sell the film to its potential audience.
People walking backwards. That’s it. People are ominously moving backwards in the first trailer for Arkasha Stevenson’s prequel to 1976’s classic horror The Omen.
Take a look at the trailer below.
The trailer is heavy with religious imagery, a lot of nuns and priests, so if that’s your thing, it looks like The First Omen will more than deliver.

Could you describe the plot of the 2001 Julia Stiles movie "Save the Last Dance" while simultaneously performing Julia Stiles' final dance from the 2001 Julia Stiles movie "Save the Last Dance"? Not many people can answer "yes" to this questions, but one person who can is "Saturday Night Live" cast member Chloe Fineman, who did just that on this weekend's episode. She was even joined for the final portion of the dance by Julia Stiles herself, in a surprise cameo.
"Save the Last Dance" received mixed reviews when it was first released, and in the two decades since the "street ballet" dance that Stiles' character performs in her successful audition for Juilliard has become a recurring target of internet mockery. Still, whether you love, hate, or have never seen "Save the Last Dance," there's no denying that its $131.7 million box office gross helped reignite the Hollywood trend of dance movies. The Weekend Update desk pieces have felt a little stale lately, so it’s great to see Chloe Fineman stepping up to bring a little energy to hers. And it doesn’t hurt that her impersonation gets a lift from the actual person she’s impersonating — Julia Stiles.
The segment doesn’t start like the usual Update segment: Fineman doesn’t sit next to either Colin Jost or Michael Che. Instead, she’s in front of the desk wearing an alluring Santa-themed nightgown. “The sexiest gift you can give your partner is trying something new in the bedroom,” she says.

Julia Stiles is feeling nostalgic!
The 42-year-old actress referenced not one, but two of her most iconic roles during appearances this week.
While onstage at the Mash-Up Americans Book Festival in New York City on Wednesday (December 6), Julia revisited the iconic poem she recites in her 1999 classic 10 Things I Hate About You.
She got notably emotional while repeating the final lines – “But mostly, I hate the way I don’t hate you, not even close, not even a little bit, not even at all.” In the movie, the poem was about her relationship with the late Heath Leger‘s character.
That was just a warm-up for Julia though, who got into character for another role during a cameo on Saturday Night Live.

Earlier this week, the Mash-Up Americans Book Festival in New York City set up Stiles to revive Katarina “Kat” Stratford from the hit 1999 film 10 Things I Hate About You. In the big-screen teen rom-com, Kat reads a “hateful” poem to Patrick Verona, a bad boy portrayed by Heath Ledger.
“I hate the way you’re always right. I hate it when you lie. I hate it when you make me laugh, even worse when you make me cry,” the poem reads in part.
Toward the end of the reading, Stiles appears to get emotional recalling the scene. Her co-star Ledger died in 2008 at the age of 28. 10 Things I Hate About You is one of Ledger’s most popular films alongside A Knight’s Tale, Casanova, The Dark Knight and Brokeback Mountain,...

10 Things I Hate About Julia Stiles
I hate that her idgaf attitude was not present in more 90s teen rom coms.
I hate that I totally forgot about the movie Save The Last Dance.
I hate that she doesn’t get the respect she deserves.
I hate that I thought she was in that movie Swimfan.
I hate that she got stuck doing generic rom coms.
I hate that her character in the Jason Bourne franchise never got a spin-off.
I hate that I really haven’t seen much of her later work.
I hate that she tricked me into liking Shakespeare as a teen.
But most of all, I hate the way I don’t hate her – not even close, not even a little bit, not even at all. Oh, and I hate that I don’t know what the heck happened to her?
So let’s find out: Wtf Happened to.

Serving as a prequel to Richard Donner’s 1976 horror classic, The First Omen is coming to cinemas on the 5th April 2024.
Hollywood’s love of horror continues! Following the success of The Exorcist: Believer, Five Nights At Freddy’s and Saw X, The First Omen is unleashed in cinemas next year.
The First Omen is a prequel to Richard Donner’s classic horror film The Omen, which revolved around the Thorn family who are raising, unbeknownst to mother Kathy, the Antichrist.
The Omen spawned three sequels as well as a 2006 remake starring Julia Stiles and Liev Schreiber, but the original remains the most memorable and, frankly, terrifying film in the franchise. Films such as The Babadook, Let The Right One In and The Orphan owe a lot to the success and persuasive mood of The Omen.
Here’s the official synopsis:
