The impresario behind the Law & Order franchise, Dick Wolf, once threatened to fire Svu star Mariska Hargitay when she cut her hair, according to Variety. He also told her there’s no crying in TV. But after 25 seasons of Svu, Hargitay told the trade mag, “He makes me stronger,” while acknowledging their working relationship has been “ugly at times.”
Hargitay told Variety that she and Wolf now have a “beautiful, mutual respect” and that in spite of “gnarly” negotiations, he has become something of a paternal figure to her,...

Mariska Hargitay is opening up about her relationship with Christopher Meloni, that teased kiss on Law & Order: Svu that didn’t happen, Kelli Giddish‘s exit, and more.
Of her chemistry with Christopher, Mariska shared, “Our chemistry is undeniable. It’s just the way it is,” she says.

She then brought up that teaser, which showed Benson holding Stabler’s face and appeared like they would end up kissing. However, when that episode aired, the face hold wasn’t even featured.
Why was it shown in a teaser and not in the show? Mariska said, “To be honest with you, Chris and I thought it should go one way and the powers that be didn’t, so it got changed at the last minute, that near kiss. Obviously Dick [Wolf] gets final say. It’s his show and he didn’t want that.

Bensler fans all remember that Law & Order: Svu promo for Season 24 Episode 12 where Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay) and Elliot Stabler (Christopher Meloni) are holding each other’s faces and look like they’re just about to kiss. When the episode aired, this emotional Benson and Stabler scene never happened. After much fanfare, Hargitay reveals key details about this almost lip lock in a new interview. “To be honest with you, Chris [Meloni] and I thought it should go one way, and the powers that be didn’t, so it got changed at the last minute, that near kiss,” the actress tells Variety. “Obviously Dick [Wolf] gets final say. It’s his show and he didn’t want that.” Ever since Stabler’s return to Benson’s world after his abrupt exit a decade ago and his wife Kathy’s tragic death, Bensler fans have been hoping that the former partners would finally get together.

When a little girl can’t find her mother in a pocket park in New York City, she inexplicably runs crying straight into the arms of Mariska Hargitay. Though Hargitay’s in the middle of shooting a scene from “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit,” she doesn’t hesitate. She scoops up the child and begins circling the playground looking for the missing mom.
She doesn’t stop to think about the cast and crew, all of whom are waiting at the other end of the park, hoping to finish the scene before the sunlight reappears from behind the clouds.
Hargitay isn’t NYPD Capt. Olivia Benson, but after portraying her for 25 years on the NBC procedural, their names, and some of their qualities, are synonymous. Benson’s compassion radiates from Hargitay. It’s evident from the moment we meet: Just one day on the set of “Law & Order: Svu,...

We can’t help but wonder who we should be more worried about right now: Detective Elliot Stabler (Christopher Meloni) in his current undercover assignment on Law & Order: Organized Crime or the show itself? There have been talks of the NBC drama moving over to Peacock for its fifth season, with nothing official yet (while Law & Order and Svu have both already been renewed). “I’m not privy to all those talks. I know things are hopefully in the works,” Tate Ellington, who joined as tech expert Kyle Vargas this season, tells TV Insider. “I’m very hopeful for all of it, but I know that everybody’s just had a blast on this season. I think they’ve really set themselves up for some amazing seasons to come, so I hope everything happens with that, but that’s something way above my pay grade.” What he can...

The newest ‘Law & Order’ spin-off has seen consistently better ratings on Peacock than on linear NBC to this point.
Eliot Stabler is coming back for at least one more ride. The popular character portrayed for 25 years by actor Christopher Meloni is the star of “Law & Order: Organized Crime,” the latest member of the franchise originated by Dick Wolf. “Organized Crime” was stuck in limbo while waiting to find out if it would be renewed for a fifth season or not, but it appears that NBCUniversal has finally made a decision. A new report from Deadline indicates that “Law & Order: Organized Crime” will move to Peacock for an abbreviated Season 5, and if it’s successful, could return for more episodes.
Key Facts: Season 5 of “Law & Order: Organized Crime” will consist of 10 episodes. The show has consistently performed better on Peacock than it has on linear NBC. Peacock...

Writer-director John Krasinski’s upcoming summer movie If already looks like it will have plenty of friends when hitting theaters.
The Paramount movie is tracking to open to $40 million-plus, or a range of $38 million to $42 million, an impressive figure for an original family film. And based on raw data, some box office pundits believe it has a shot at $45 million to $50 million.
Unaided awareness is well above average, as well as interest and first choice. For Paramount, the tracking numbers show that the studio is able to keep to the job at hand, versus getting stymied by talks of a looming sale.
If‘s cast list reads like a who’s who of top Hollywood stars, led by Ryan Reynolds.

The last NBC drama series whose fate had not been determined, Law & Order: Organized Crime, is finalizing a deal for a 10-episode Season 5 renewal, sources said. As Deadline reported exclusively this month, the Wolf Entertainment series will be relocating from NBC to sibling Peacock, with the new season streaming exclusively on the platform.
The move gives the NBCUniversal streamer an original Dick Wolf drama series to go with the Wolf library and next-day runs of the company’s remaining NBC series Chicago Fire, Chicago P.D., Chicago Med, Law & Order and Law & Order: Svu, which are among the platform’s most viewed titles.

Before The Sopranos, Game of Thrones, Six Feet Under, The Wire, or any of the other popular HBO shows, there was Oz. The one-hour drama chronicled the lives of the staff and inmates at the Oswald State Correctional Facility, a maximum security penitentiary home to the most violent offenders in the state. It’s been over twenty years since the series concluded, but creator Tom Fontana is back with an Oz short film starring Lee Tergesen as Tobias Beecher and Dean Winters as Ryan O’Reily.
Titled Zo, the short film actually premiered at the Atx Festival in 2021, but few people were able to see it. Thankfully, Zo will premiere on YouTube on May 1st, giving fans around the world the chance to finally see it. According to Kirk Acevado, who starred in Oz as Miguel Alvarez, it could even lead to a sequel series if the short film gets enough buzz.

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for Law & Order: Organized CrimeSeason 4 Episode 10 “Crossroads.”] The Organized Crime Control Bureau now has to mourn one of its own. Stabler’s (Christopher Meloni) latest undercover operation on Organized Crime has him looking into an organization moving heroin tied to his brother Joe’s (Michael Trotter) drug use. And in order to maintain his cover, Stabler can’t react—as a montage of moments from the season plays—when he’s ordered to bury the body of none other than Detective Sam Bashir (Abubakr Ali) after he went missing connected to the case. He leans on the fact that he was a Marine (his tattoo) to let his anger out and question Angus (Stephen Lang) about it. Angus claims they had nothing to do with his death. Later, Mama Boone (Lois Smith) asks Angus, “We’re just doing Red Coat’s doing now?” He says it’s part of the arrangement he made ...

Exclusive: First in a series on broadcast network series renewals. NBC is well ahead of the game this season on the renewal-decision front, handing early pickups to freshman dramas Found and The Irrational as well as One Chicago, Law & Order and Law & Order: Svu while canceling Quantum Leap, La Brea and Magnum Pi.
That leaves just a headful of shows on the bubble, mostly on the comedy side. The one drama series still waiting to hear its fate is Law & Order: Organized Crime. It’s always been an outlier, a departure from the Dick Wolf procedural brand with its darker and serialized storytelling. We've already had one movie this year about an imaginary friend turning out to be not so fictional, and causing chaos in Blumhouse's Imaginary. That didn't exactly impress, so would it have been better if Ryan Reynolds had shown up to announce he was tasting gummy bear farts with his eyeballs? Maybe… but it probably wouldn't have seemed as scary. Still, writer/director John Krasinski is more going for family friendly fun with If, and the final trailer does indeed feature candy fart/eyeball action. Check it out:
If is based on a simple and, as Krasinski has already admitted, Pixar-style idea: a girl (Cailey Fleming) discovers that she can see everyone’s imaginary friends. Trying to figure what she can do with this ability leads her to Reynolds' Cal, whose task it is to reunite forgotten IFs with their kids — or find them new ones.

Dean Norris & Michael Trotter Talk ‘Organized Crime’ ‘Intense’ Stabler Brothers Intervention (Video)
It’s time for (another) Stabler family intervention on Law & Order: Organized Crime, and unsurprisingly, it doesn’t go well. In the April 11 episode, “Semper Fi,” Detective Elliot Stabler (Christopher Meloni) leans into his military network to search for the source of a Middle Eastern heroin pipeline making its way to the U.S. Plus, Joe Jr. (Michael Trotter) takes drastic action when his brothers try to stage an intervention. And as you can see in the sneak peek above, Elliot and Randall’s (Dean Norris) attempt to help their brother does not go well at all. “It’s not the easiest thing to take a junkie in a single scene and turn him into a good guy,” Norris tells TV Insider. “We have fun trying!” Joe “feels betrayed,” according to Trotter, because his brothers trick him into thinking they’re going to have a night out together. “Any opportunity [for that] he kind of craves,...

Law & Order Svu may have lost Christopher Meloni at one point. But his absence allowed for Mariska Hargitay to tinker around with new storylines, some involving potential love interests for her character. But there was one on-screen romantic partner that Hargitay may not have appreciated breaking up with.

“Quantum Leap” has been canceled at NBC after two seasons, Variety has confirmed.
The show served as a followup to the 1989 show of the same name starring Scott Bakula and Dean Stockwell. The revamped version starred Raymond Lee as physicist Dr. Ben Song, whose attempt to restart the Quantum Leap project pioneered by Dr. Sam Beckett leads to him being trapped in different people’s lives in the past just like Beckett. As he seeks to put right what once went wrong in those lives, he “leaps” to different lives while hoping that each leap will be the leap home.
The cast of the series also included Caitlin Bassett, Ernie Hudson, Mason Alexander Park, and Nanrisa Lee. Steven Lilien and Bryan Wynbrandt developed the series and served as executive producers alongside Martin Gero via Quinn’s House, Dean Georgaris, Deborah Pratt, Chris Grismer, and Alex Berger. Universal Television was the studio.

Stabler, Bell, and the rest of the Law & Order: Organized Crime crew might be wrapping up their final case soon.
Law & Order: Organized Crime's future is in doubt after NBC renewed the two other Law & Order shows and the One Chicago franchise without making a decision about this series.
They haven't canceled it outright, but this delay in renewal and last year's decision to order only half a season of Law & Order: Organized Crime are signs that NBC may be leaning toward cancellation, which would be a shame.
Law & Order: Organized Crime's ratings have never been as high as its sister shows. There are a few possible reasons for that.
The most obvious is that it airs at 10/9c, which may be too late for some viewers.

The season of the very first sign of the zodiac is here, and that’s exactly why being a leader comes so easy for Aries folks.
And that’s no joke, Aries really don’t know what else to be but a boss, CEO or innovator, because they’d rather play by their own rules. They march to the beat of their own drum and rarely ever need anyone to play backup instrumentals. Their charm, playful personality and great sense of humor make up for their impulsiveness and sometimes hot-temper, and there’s absolutely no other sign who will keep it all the way real with you like an Aries does, even if it’s something you don’t want to hear. They tell it like it is, as dishonesty goes against their entire m.o.

It’s a good day for fans of Law & Order and Law & Order: Svu, as NBC has officially picked up both legal dramas for the 2024-25 season.
This exciting news means that Law & Order will continue for Season 24, and Law & Order: Svu will continue for Season 26.
The renewals were announced alongside the pickups of Chicago Fire, Chicago Med, and Chicago P.D.
Ominously missing from the renewals was the Christopher Meloni-led Law & Order: Organized Crime, currently in its fourth season, but the network is saying that the show’s future is “in discussion.”
The youngest entry in the sprawling Law & Order universe has been saddled with behind-the-scenes issues since its inception and has gone through countless showrunners.
The series typically takes on more serialized storylines as opposed to the procedural nature of the other two Thursday night dramas.

It's a big day for NBC's so-called Dick Wolf Universe.
The network has ordered new seasons of all three shows in the One Chicago franchise: Chicago Med, Chicago Fire and Chicago Pd.
Law & Order and Law & Order: Svu have also been renewed, but today's news is a mixed bag for NBC's longest-running interconnected shows:
There's been no decision yet on Law & Order: Organized Crime, whose status is “still under discussion,” an NBC source tells The Hollywood Reporter.
Today's announcement sets the path for a 26th season of Svu, cementing the show's place as the longest-running primetime drama in American TV history.
The Og Law & Order series is in the midst of a reset following the departure of Sam Waterston, who began playing Executive Assistant District Attorney Jack McCoy way back in 1994.
