General Hospital spoilers for next week’s episodes of the hit ABC soap tease that time is of the essence.
The storyline to bring Lucky (Jonathan Jackson) home is in full swing. With NuLulu (Alexa Havins) already hired, it’s only a matter of time before she debuts.
Meanwhile, Sonny (Maurice Benard) is wrapped up in a big mess. Alexis (Nancy Lee Grahn) taking the fall for what he did isn’t going over well, as Kristina (Kate Mansi) continues to spiral.
Everything seems to be focused on those two major storylines. They will likely be the ones that take us into November sweeps and possibly beyond.
There’s also some Nina (Cynthia Watros), Drew (Cameron Mathison), and Willow (Katelyn MacMullen) thrown in for good measure.
Here’s what’s happening next week on General Hospital.

If you tuned into the Monday, September 16 or Tuesday, September 17 episodes of ABC’s “General Hospital,” you will have seen a different but familiar face appearing as Sam McCall on the daytime drama series with Lindsay Hartley once again filling in for Kelly Monaco.
Kate Mansi, Kristen Vaganos, Tajh Bellow
ABC via Screengrab
According to Soap Opera Digest, Hartley is set to appear in multiple episodes this week with the outlet noting Hartley’s scenes were taped around the same time she taped the funeral scenes that aired in August where Sam (Hartley) stood in support of her dueling sisters, Molly (Kristen Vaganos) and Kristina (Kate Mansi) as they grieved the loss of their child, fathered by T.J. (Tajh Bellow).
“Because ‘Gh’ often shoots segments of episodes out of order, there was a lag time of several weeks before Hartley’s work made it to air,” Digest pointed out in its report.

Things might look different on General Hospital this week and there’s an explanation for Lindsay Hartley‘s reappearance as Sam McCall.
Kelly Monaco has been playing the beloved character for over 20 years, but it was reported that she is exiting the show later this year after being “blindsided” by producers.

Lindsay previously appeared on the show in August 2024 and is now back just weeks later. So, what led to the quick return?

General Hospital star Maurice Benard broke his silence about Kelly Monaco’s departure. He sees nothing but good things for his co-star.
Surprising News
Gh fans are still in shock over the news that Kelly Monaco is leaving the ABC soap. Earlier this month, it was revealed that she will be exiting her role as Sam McCall in September 2024. She has played the iconic character since 2003. Her final airdate is unknown at the time.
The news exploded on social media at the time. Reports claimed she was being killed off; however, she has recently been temporarily replaced by Lindsay Hartley. Still, many questions surround Monaco’s departure and what led to this hasty decision.
Gh has been through many changes this year alone. Chris Van Etten replaced head writer Patrick Mulcahey. Several cast members, including Steve Burton (Jason) and Jonathan Jackson (Lucky), have returned. In June, Michael Easton announced his exit from the series.

General Hospital fans will see a familiar face stepping in as Sam McCall for Kelly Monaco this week. Lindsay Hartley will take on the role again.
Hartley As Sam
Soap Opera Digest reported that Hartley will appear as Sam on Gh for several episodes starting this week. The episodes she’s in were filmed the last time Hartley stepped in for Monaco on the ABC soap. Gh frequently shoots parts of episodes out of order, which is why Hartley will be on once again this week.
Viewers will remember that Hartley portrayed the character during the funeral for Molly (Kristen Vaganos) and Tj’s (Tajh Bellow) unborn baby, who died when surrogate Kristina (Kate Mansi) fell out a window during a confrontation with Ava (Maura West).
Recently, news broke that Monaco is out as Sam and the character will die when the actress exits. It’s unclear when Monaco’s last airdate will be.

‘General Hospital’ (Gh) spoilers reveal a major shocker and blow to JaSam fans. Kelly Monaco has been fired from Gh, and the role of Sam McCall will not be recast.
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Sam’s Exit Is Storyline Dictated
Soap Opera Digest said her exit is “storyline-dictated,” which makes sense since Lulu Spencer (last played by Emme Rylan) is close to waking up from her almost four-year-long coma.
Monaco has portrayed Sam since October 2003. Lindsay Hartley stepped into Sam’s shoes late last week during the funeral for the baby Kristina Corinthos-Davis (Kate Mansi) had been carrying for Molly Lansing-Davis` (Kristen Vaganos).
Some initially speculated that Hartley would replace Monaco, but the show has decided to scrap the character altogether.
It’s a sad turn of events since there had been so much hope that Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) and Sam would find their way back to each other.

Monaco has been with the Gh franchise for her career in daytime. From 2000 to 2003, she portrayed Livvie Locke in the Gh spinoff Port Charles. She portrayed Livvie until the show was canceled, then moved on to Sam on Gh.
Throughout her over two-decade career in daytime, Monaco has earned two Daytime Emmy nominations. One for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series in 2003 for portraying Livvie and the second for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series for her work as Sam...

Days of Our Lives teased the hiring of two new actors on social media in April. But they kept mum about what roles the two were playing. Many fans guessed that one of them was a recast Gabi Hernandez. The soap finally confirmed the rumors. Who will be playing Gabi and when will the new actress begin airing on Dool? Keep reading for all the details.
Cherie Jimenez Takes Over As Gabi
Camila Banus is the Gabi Hernandez that fans know and love to hate. However, she wasn’t the first actress to play the role. Banus replaced Gabriela Rodriguez in the role in 2010. Gabi was sent to prison for the murder of Li Shin but is actually innocent.

Another week, another casting change on General Hospital.
Lindsay Hartley on Tuesday filled in as Sam McCall while Gh mainstay Kelly Monaco took some personal time. But her absence will be brief; she’s back on Friday.
Hartley has filled in for Monaco before on the ABC sudser.
News of Monaco’s absence comes after it was revealed last week that Nicole Paggi will be taking over for Kirsten Storms as Maxie Jones in Port Charles. Storms will be out for a few days.
And a day after the Daytime Emmys aired in December, fans discovered that first-time Emmy winner Eden McCoy was Mia as character Josslyn Jacks; someone else was appearing in her place.

General Hospital is missing one of its own in the new year as star Kelly Monaco is nowhere to be found onscreen. But where did she go? Lindsay Hartley surprised viewers by stepping into the role of Sam McCall at the start of 2024. The actress has appeared in the role before, filling in for Monaco three separate times in 2020, 2022, and now at the end of 2023 and into 2024. (Credit: ABC/Craig Sjodin; Mitchell Haaseth/NBC) While Hartley has become a familiar face to fans since filling in for Monaco, they can rest assured that the original star will be back as the current situation is reportedly temporary, according to Soaps. It isn’t clear how long Hartley will be covering for Monaco onscreen, but past stints didn’t last much longer than a week or so. Still, we don’t have any information about when Monaco is set to return specifically.

Entertainment Weekly reported on February 26 that a new doctor is scrubbing in on “General Hospital.” Actress Brook Kerr is joining the cast and starts airing on Thursday, March 5. “And the new adventure begins,” the actress wrote on Instagram upon the official announcement.
