In introductory behind-the-scenes footage, Lifetime’s four-part docuseries The Life and Murder of Nicole Brown Simpson sees a producer instructing interview subjects to use specific names when referencing individuals. Nicole Brown Simpson’s older sister, Denise Brown, replies, “There’s only one name I don’t want to say, if you don’t mind — ever.”
That name is O.J. Simpson, Nicole’s ex-husband who famously stood trial and was acquitted of her murder and that of her friend, Ron Goldman, both of whom were found stabbed to death in her Brentwood, Los Angeles, home on June 12, 1994. O.J. died of metastatic prostate cancer on April 11 at the age of 76. The following day, Lifetime announced the forthcoming documentary, which coincides with the 30-year anniversary of Nicole’s death.

No charges have been filed yet, but footage showing Combs attacking his ex-girlfriend, Casandra “Cassie” Ventura, was released in May 2024. Here’s what an attorney said about the probability of charges brought against Combs.

When Drake and Kendrick Lamar decided to go at each other, we knew that there was a chance for low blows; we just didn’t know we’d end up subterranean. The four tracks they exchanged on May 3 and 4 — Kendrick’s “Meet the Grahams” and “Not Like Us,” as well as Drake’s “Family Matters” and “The Heart Pt. 6” — have taken their rift into a dark place. Drake is calling Kendrick a domestic abuser, and Kendrick is calling Drake a pedophile. Now, we’re wondering how a war that was...

We know Kendrick Lamar and Drake will throw more shots, levy more seedy allegations, and might even drop more all-out diss songs from here. But the bulk of the war has been fought, and the crown goes to Compton. In hindsight, the way Drake poked the bear with Instagram Stories provocations and his “Taylor Made” freestyle seems masochistic. Over the past week, Lamar hit Drake with a relentless volley of diss songs that comprehensively dismantled his opponent’s character and, with “Not Like Us,” may make him the punchline of the summer.

Drake responded quickly to Kendrick Lamar’s diss track “Not Like Us,” dropping “The Heart Part 6” on Sunday, a day after Lamar’s latest diss, which accuses Drake of being a “certified pedophile.” He also shut down that he had a secret daughter, which Lamar alludes to in Friday’s barb “Meet the Grahams.” That track was a quick-hit response to Drake’s “Family Matters,” also from Friday, which alleges infidelity in Lamar’s relationship.

Michael Jackson was the King of Pop and every king has a court. It’s no surprise he worked with several other megastars across genres over the course of his life. Some of those collaborations are classic and others are tragic.
1. Justin Timberlake
“Love Never Felt So Good” is a posthumous disco duet with Justin Timberlake. It’s not as good as Jackson’s classic disco tracks but it has an infectious, cherry energy. It feels more like a prequel to Timberlake’s “Can’t Stop the Feeling!” than anything else.
The song has some great timing. It came out in 2014. 2013 saw a huge revival of disco music with hits like Robin Thicke’s “Blurred Lines,” Daft Punk’s “Get Lucky,” Bruno Mars’ “Treasure.” while it was a song from the vaults, “Love Never Felt So Good” felt practically modern! The tune appeared on the posthumous album Xscape. Xscape is not Thriller,...

A federal appellate court in Chicago has upheld R. Kelly’s conviction and 20-year prison sentence for child sex crimes.
Lawyers for the disgraced singer argued that U.S. District Judge Harry Leinenweber exceeded federal sentencing guidelines by six years when he handed down the 20-year sentence in 2022. Leinenweber is allowing Kelly to serve 19 of the 20-year sentence concurrently with the 30-year sentence he received following a separate conviction in New York federal court.
In their decision, the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals concluded that the sentencing was appropriate given the “horrid, horrible” nature of Kelly’s crimes. The court also rejected Kelly’s argument that the charges were filed after the statue of limitations had expired.
“Kelly—interposing a statute-of-limitations defense—thinks he delayed the charges long enough to elude them entirely. The statute says otherwise, so we affirm his conviction,” a three-judge appeals panel unanimously concluded. “An even-handed jury found Kelly guilty,...

Wendy Williams once helped produce a movie about the late singer Aaliyah. But many people weren’t thrilled with Williams telling the singer’s story, including those closest to the star.

In 2014, Williams was behind the release of the Lifetime movie Aaliyah: The Princess of R & B. The feature chronicled the life of Aaliyah’s journey to superstardom, her relationship with acts like R. Kelly, Missy Elliot, and Timbaland.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Williams asserted that she did the movie to do Aaliyah’s story justice. Although she was aware there would be some controversy after helming the project.
“Lifetime needed to tell this story correctly. Fans won’t say, ‘Oh, my God, how could you disgrace her memory?’ And nosy people like me who want to find out things will also be fine,...

For years, people have “heard grumblings and whispers” — as #MeToo founder Tarana Burke puts it — about the questionable behavior of Sean “Diddy” Combs.
“But I think the question,” Burke adds, “was there ever going to be any level of accountability?”
Five months ago, Combs’ life dramatically changed. Singer Cassie, the music mogul’s former partner and a recording artist, sued him for sexual assault and said he repeatedly raped and physically abused her for nearly a decade; they reached a settlement two days later. But subsequent lawsuits from more women followed with claims of rape and sexual assault, and in February producer Rodney “Lil Rod” Jones — who worked on Combs’ recent Grammy-nominated album — accused the entrepreneur of harassing and trafficking him. Christian Combs, the entertainer’s 26-year-old son, has been accused of sex assault in a lawsuit filed this week that also listed 54-year-old Combs as a defendant, multiple outlets reported.

Prior to her death in 2001, recording artist Aaliyah released three albums which all garnered commercial success and stayed on the charts for weeks. But there was one song off her debut album in 1994 that was so problematic it’s since been dubbed “creepy” and “uncomfortable” to listen to.

A judge has ruled that more than $500,000 of R. Kelly’s music royalties held by Umg (Universal Music Group) must be given out to Brooklyn federal prosecutors to help pay his victims.
In a report obtained by Billboard, Judge Ann Donnelly signed over the embattled R&B’s royalties to pay his criminal fines – two years after he was convicted for sex trafficking and racketeering.

The prosecutors initially aimed to take control of royalties from both Umg and Sony Music Entertainment, Kelly’s previous record label. However, Umg had sufficient funds to cover the total penalty, so the prosecutors declared on Wednesday that they wouldn’t pursue accessing Sony’s accounts.
Sony won’t hold onto R. Kelly’s funds, even though they had over $1.5 million of his royalties in 2020. They’re facing demands from others owed money as well.

Among the 18 names listed in the 41-count indictment unsealed by a Fulton County, Georgia D.A. tonight was one not generally associated with Donald Trump and his inner circle: Trevian C. Kutti.
While not as familiar to cable news junkies as Rudy Giuliani, John Eastman or Mark Meadows, Kutti is well known in other circles as Kanye West’s onetime publicist. She is also, notably, the woman recorded on video trying to convince Ruby Freeman, a frightened Georgia election worker whom Trump had public attacked, to implicate herself in election fraud regarding the 2020 presidential election.
Counts 30 & 31 of the indictment charge Kutti, Stephen Cliffguard Lee and Harrison William Prescott Floyd with “conspiracy to commit solicitation of false statement and writings” and “influencing witnesses,” respectively.
Count 30 says the trio “unlawfully conspired to solicit, request, and importune Ruby Freeman, a Fulton County, Georgia, election worker, to engage in conduct constituting the felony...

One of the most eagerly anticipated series of the spring is coming to Netflix on April 6. Ali Wong and Steven Yeun star in “Beef” as strangers involved in a road-rage incident. Thirteen of Michael Jackson‘s songs reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. Some of those songs are incredible. On the other hand, one of them is about a killer rat.
Michael Jackson | Chris Walter / Contributor 13. ‘Ben’
“Ben” is a ballad about a killer rat that became Jackson’s first solo No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. It was from the film Ben, the sequel to the killer rat movie Willard. The ballad is more of a weird piece of trivia than a real song.
12. ‘I Just Can’t Stop Loving You’ with Siedah Garrett
Jackson dabbled in numerous genres. Sadly, he wasn’t able to elevate easy-listening music with “I Just Can’t Stop Loving You.” While this was a No. 1 single during Jackson’s peak period, it doesn’t have an accompanying music video.

Grammy-winning R&b singer R. Kelly has been in the headlines for his legal issues since the 1990s. However, in 2019, he was arrested and charged with multiple counts of sexual abuse, including child pornography, racketeering, and obstruction of justice. The singer was found guilty after two separate trials, and he is currently serving a lengthy prison sentence. But when will R. Kelly be eligible for parole?
Why did R. Kelly go to prison?
Kelly’s legal issues began in 1994 when he married singer Aaliyah, who was only 15 years old at the time. The marriage was eventually annulled.
In 2002, a video surfaced that appeared to show Kelly engaging in sexual acts with a 14-year-old girl. The video was later used as evidence in his trial. But in 2008, after a six-year legal battle, Kelly was acquitted of 14 counts of child pornography.

It was the moment many had been waiting nearly a year for — a chance to hear just how Chris Rock would finally address Will Smith’s Oscar night smackdown of the comedian on the Academy stage with a slap that will live in infamy.
Perhaps because Rock knew much of the audience who tuned in were waiting for just that moment, he saved it toward near the end of his set Saturday night during Netflix’s much hyped first live special Chris Rock: Selective Outrage!
But when the moment finally came, Rock didn’t hold back — taking down Smith, dragging his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, and targeting the couple’s marital issues (in which Pinkett Smith acknowledged a relationship with singer August Alsina as the couple addressed their marriage on an episode of Red Table Talk).
“Will Smith practices selective outrage,” Rock told the audience. “Outrage because everybody knows what the fuck happened.

It was nearly a year ago that Will Smith marched onto the Dolby Theatre stage and smacked the piss out of host Chris Rock in the middle of the Oscars ceremony — all for the crime of making an off-color joke about his wife Jada Pinkett Smith’s hairdo. You surely know what happened next: instead of removing him from the venue, the Academy allowed Smith to stay, leading to a surreal, rambling acceptance speech (through tears) when he won the Best Actor Oscar for King Richard later that night. At an after party,...

Warning: This post contains very strong language and racial slurs used onstage: “Anybody that says words hurt has never been punched in the face,” Chris Rock said with a well-timed figurative wink tonight right at the start of his live Netflix special Selective Outrage.
Starting off with a backstage montage of a Prince pendant-wearing Rock heading toward the stage, the special from Baltimore’s Hippodrome Theatre quickly launched into the comic taking pretty standard swings at the selective outrage of the woke crowd, “everybody scared and full of shit,” corporate charity, and “yoga pants politics.” Only with a swipe at “the kind of people who play Michael Jackson songs, but not R. Kelly,” did Rock venture from his Joe Rogan playlist
“Same crime — one has better songs.”

Almost a year after the infamous Oscars slap, comedian Chris Rock finally addressed what happened in his live Netflix special, “Selective Outrage.”
After an hour of new material that only alluded to Slapgate — “They say, ‘words hurt.’ Anybody who says ‘words hurt’ has never been punched in the face,” he joked earlier in the night — the comedian finally broke down the aftermath of the on-stage smack from Oscar-winner Will Smith.
“You all know what happened to me, getting smacked by Suge Smith. Everybody knows. Everybody fucking knows,” Rock said. “I got smacked like a year ago… and people are like, ‘Did it hurt?’ It still hurts. I got ‘Summertime’ ringing in my ears.”
Despite the pressure from the press to open up about what happened, Rock is adamant that he won’t be dissecting it on a talk show.
“I’m not a victim baby. You will never see me on Oprah or Gayle [King] crying.

2022’s Eurovision song contest winners have high hopes that the country will be able to host next year’s competition.
The Kalush Orchestra won last year’s contest for Ukraine, which usually would mean that the country would host the following year.
However, due to the current conflict in Ukraine, the UK took over hosting duties for 2023.
Now, the Orchestra’s lead vocalist, Oleh Psiuk, thinks Ukraine will be able to host the contest by next year.
"We would very much like this year to finally bring such a long-awaited victory to Ukraine,” began the folk-rap group singer, while speaking to Pa News Agency.
"And taking into account the fact that Ukraine is again among the favourites at the Eurovision Song Contest according to bookmakers’ forecasts, there are chances that Ukraine will return the contest to itself in 2024,” Psiuk said.
“We hope that we will all celebrate together,” the 28-year-old added.

R&b singer R. Kelly has been sentenced to serve 20 years in prison for child sex crimes by a Chicago federal court.
The 56-year-old singer, whose full name is Robert Sylvester Kelly, was found guilty of six of the 13 charges brought against him (all were filed in 2019), including three counts of coercing minors into sexual activity and three of producing sex tapes involving a minor, reports Variety.
The jury found that Kelly had produced three videos of himself sexually abusing his then 14-year-old goddaughter.
He was acquitted of a charge that he had attempted to block an earlier investigation into his abuse of the goddaughter, and two other counts of enticing minors to have sex.

R. Kelly was just sentenced to another 20 years in prison, though the majority of those two decades will be served concurrent to his racketeering and sex-trafficking imprisonment. The disgraced R&b artist was sentenced on federal charges of child pornography and enticement of a minor, of which he was found guilty in September 2022. One year of the new two-decade sentence will be added to the end of his 30 years on the racketeering and trafficking charges, CNN said.
The latest sentencing follows a decades-long scheme of sexual abuse against girls, boys, and women by Kelly.
Kelly was sentenced to the aforementioned 30 years in prison on June 29, 2022, The New York Times reported. That ruling came after several of Kelly's accusers read victim impact statements in court. The judge, Ann M. Donnelly, called Kelly's crimes "calculated and carefully planned and regularly executed for almost 25 years," The New York Times reported. She told the disgraced artist,...

A federal court in Illinois has sentenced R Kelly to 20 years in prison for child sex crimes, Variety reports.
Kelly was hit with 13 child sex crimes charges in 2019. In September 2022, a jury found him guilty of six charges, including three counts of coercing minors into sexual activity and three counts of producing sex tapes involving a minor. Those videos included Kelly abusing his then-14-year-old goddaughter. He was acquitted of conspiring to obstruct prior investigations into his abuse of his goddaughter, as well as two other counts of enticing a minor.
Kelly is already serving a 30-year sentence in prison for sex trafficking crimes in a separate federal case. Prosecutors in the child pornography case asked for the artist to serve his latest sentence after the 30 years were up, but the judge ruled that Kelly would serve all but one year of both sentences concurrently — meaning Kelly will ultimately spend 31 years in prison.

R Kelly has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for child sex crimes.
A federal judge ruled he will serve this sentence at the same time as the 30 years he is currently serving. As a result of the new sentencing, he will serve an extra year in prison.
On Thursday (23 February), the sentencing was announced after a jury in Chicago found the singer guilty of six of the 13 charges brought against him in September 2022.
These included three counts of coercing minors into illegal sexual activity as well as three counts of creating pornography that showed him abusing a minor.
R Kelly is currently serving 30 years in prison for racketeering and sex trafficking charges.
Prosecutors argued that R Kelly’s sentence should be added on top of the current sentence he is serving, with Jeannice Williams Appenteng stating in court: “The only way to ensure he will not reoffend is to...
