- She had a recording deal in France singing in an all girl rock 'n' roll group called Phantasm. They toured in France and did a couple of really early music videos.
- Tracy took a three year hiatus from Hollywood to help her mother battle breast cancer.
- The only child of two attorneys who were also both athletes. Her mother was ranked #1 in the United States in the US Senior Women's Tennis Association in 2007, and her father was a Golden Gloves Boxer.

She learned by watching television shows with foreign characters and interviews with world leaders. Upon coming to Hollywood, she got to work with some of her role models.
- She spent three years studying acting in New York at some of the most highly regarded schools; Herbert Berghof Acting Studio, Wenn Handmann's American Acting Academy, but she calls "Smith & Smith" her most helpful film acting mentors. That would be Kurtwood Smith with whom she did her first television series, and Lane Smith who portrayed Perry White on Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman (1993).
- In 2017, Hurricane Harvey flooded Tracy's home in Texas with five feet of flood water. This "1000 Year Flood" took most of her late mother's things along with much of her own. She subsequently rebuilt and repaired. In February 2021, her home was one of millions in Texas that endured the "100 Year Freeze".
- Tracy credits listening to her criminal attorney father's jury summations at the family breakfast table for inciting a drive toward a career in drama.
- She auditioned for the role of Captain Kathryn Janeway on Star Trek: Voyager (1995), which went to Kate Mulgrew.
- She has made guest appearances on two different series in which one of the main characters was a shapeshifter: Manimal (1983) and Star Trek: Deep Space Nine (1993).
- Has two connections with the Terminator franchise: She starred with Michael Biehn in Timebomb (1991), and she and Linda Hamilton (who played Sarah Connor) both auditioned for the role of Captain Kathryn Janeway on Star Trek: Voyager (1995).
