The reboot of popular 2000s Disney Channel sitcom Lizzie McGuire was cancelled. Now, one of its writers has revealed a few new details about its plot.
Hilary Duff was a huge star among pre-teens in the early 2000s thanks to her portrayal of the eponymous character in Disney Channel sitcom Lizzie McGuire – and its subsequent movie.
The show followed the awkward, klutzy teen as she navigated life, school with best friends Gordo and Miranda, played by Adam Lamberg and Lalaine. There was also her family – her younger brother Matt, played by Jake Thomas, and her embarrassing parents, played by Hallie Todd and Robert Carradine – whose brother David appeared in one episode as a mentor to Matt when he made his own kung fu film.
One memorable aspect of the show was the frequent use of an animated version of Lizzie, which represented her inner monologue. The show’s popularity led...

These new details, as revealed in a TikTok video by writer Jonathan Hurwitz, point to the adult themes that it would have tackled in the first few episodes.

We want movies to move us. We want them to soothe us, and carry us through bad times; we want them to make us laugh, make us feel connected to others, and show us beauty and splendor we've never seen before. And, sometimes, we want movies to truly, deeply disturb us.
Never mind why; maybe we're numb and want to be rattled into feeling, maybe we're feeling too much and want to channel it all somewhere, or maybe we just want to believe the world is still capable of bowling us over despite of our defenses. Whatever the case, we all sometimes take to a movie specifically because of one particular moment in it that makes us feel horrible.
Conversely, we sometimes don't want movies to disturb us, and yet they do — when we're least expecting them to, or when we're making an earnest effort to meet them halfway, they...

Actor Robert Carradine who is best known for his role in the series ‘Lizzie Mcguire’ where he portrays the father of Hilary Duff’s titular character in the popular series from 2001 until 2004 and reprised his role for ‘The Lizzie McGuire Movie’ in 2003, has said that he received zero royalties from the series.
As revealed by the screenshot of paycheque, the actor posted in his Instagram account, the post stated that he got $0 residuals from the show in 2019.
As reported by Aceshowbiz, Robert’s post comes just days after Screen Actors Guild announced it would go on strike due to concerns over wages for actors and creators in the industry, overuse of AI to undercut costs, and how the profits of digital streaming are not being divided properly.

Oscar-winning actor Forest Whitaker has had a long and celebrated acting career though initially he aspired to be an opera singer. He enrolled at the University of Southern California to study opera but then changed his major to acting and graduated from the school with a Bfa in Drama.
While still enrolled in college, Whitaker began acting professionally. His first film role came in a movie called “Tag: The Assassination Game,” which starred Robert Carradine and Linda Hamilton. That same year he would get a small role in a movie about high school students that would become a classic. He joined a cast of unknown actors including Sean Penn, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Judge Reinhold and Phoebe Cates in “Fast Times at Ridgemont High.” The film was a bit of a sleeper hit in 1982 but became a classic through repeated showings on cable TV.

For this month’s installment of “TV Terrors” we revisit the ambitious small screen project “Roger Corman Presents,” which aired from 1995 through 1999 on Showtime.
Not many remember this, but back in the nineties, the cable network Showtime was extremely centered on science fiction and horror genre fare. They were the original launch pads for “Stargate Sg-1” and “Poltergeist: The Legacy” before they became syndication mainstays. Hell, even their marketing was catered to the science fiction and horror aesthetic.
Like Cinemax, Showtime sought to work out distribution deals while releasing their own original films for primetime and late night slots. While Cinemax and HBO worked with Stan Winston, Showtime collaborated with the one and only Roger Corman. With him and his studio Concorde Pictures, they would produce a series of low budget films that would air over the course of two seasons. With the banner “Roger Corman Presents,” Corman and company...

More than two years after dreams of a Lizzie McGuire revival were dashed, Hulu’s How I Met Your Father is revisiting the iconic Disney Channel property via flashback.
During Tuesday’s episode, appropriately titled “A Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Valentine’s Day,” Sophie & Co. recount their worst Valentine’s Day experiences in order to cheer up Ellen. What follows are glimpses from the gang’s past — all newly created except for one. Rather than hire a teenage actress to play 13-year-old Sophie, the series cuts to a clip from Hilary Duff’s early-aughts sitcom.

A new episode of the Wtf Happened to This Horror Movie? video series has been released this morning, and in this episode we’re looking back at one of the least popular films to be directed by the legendary John Carpenter: the 2001 release Ghosts of Mars (watch it Here). Why didn’t Ghosts of Mars turn out to be another Carpenter classic? We try to figure that out in the video embedded above.
Directed by Carpenter from a script he wrote with Larry Sulkis, Ghosts of Mars has the following synopsis: Long inhabited by human settlers, the Red Planet has become the manifest destiny of an over-populated Earth. Nearly 640,000 people now live and work all over Mars, mining the planet for its abundant natural resources. But one of those mining operations has uncovered a deadly mother lode: a long-dormant Martian civilization whose warriors are systematically taking over the bodies of human intruders.

Seth MacFarlane is reviving the age old rivalry between jocks and nerds. The comedic actor is developing a reboot of the seminal ’80s comedy “Revenge of the Nerds” at 20th Century Studios.
Keith and Kenny Lucas, identical twin brothers best known for their scene-stealing roles in “22 Jump Street,” are set to write and star in the film. They are co-writing the script with Alex Rubens. MacFarlane will produce the reboot through his production company Fuzzy Door, along with Erica Huggins, who brought the project to the Lucas brothers and is spearheading development.
The upcoming version won’t be a remake of the 1984 comedy, which hasn’t aged all that well and has been criticized in recent years for depictions of rape. Instead, the contemporary reimagining will pontificate about today’s nerd culture and what even constitutes a geek in the 21st century.

The list of candidates for the 2020 Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences’ Board of Governors election is now out, with the winner in each branch being chosen directly from these entries rather than whittling it down to four finalists in each, as has been done previously. The list of candidates is made up of qualified AMPAS members who actually submit themselves.
Also new this year in the streamlined timetable, as Deadline exclusively reported May 16. The winners for the 17 open slots on the 54-member board will be chosen by preferential balloting, just like Best Picture race at the Oscars. Voting begins Monday and ballots are due back June 5.

The cast of Lizzie McGuire is back together again! On Monday, Hilary Duff shared a video of the stars of the Disney Channel series doing a virtual table read of the episode "Between a Rock and a Bra Place" from season one: you know, the one where Lizzie yells at her mom that she wants a bra. Duff was also joined by Lalaine (Miranda), Adam Lamberg (Gordo), Jake Thomas (Matt), Ashlie Brillault (Kate), Robert Carradine (Sam), Hallie Todd (Jo), Davida Williams (Claire), and Kyle J. The “Lizzie McGuire” reboot may be on pause, but the original cast just got back together.
Hilary Duff, star of the 2001 Disney channel comedy series, posted a video of she and her castmates getting together to do a table read of the “Between a Rock and a Bra Place!” episode, which aired 19 years ago this week.
“Lizzie McGuire retro table read!” Duff wrote in the caption of the video. “We could not stop laughing reading lines from tween us…this is the first time we were all “together-ish” in almost 18 years!”

The cast of “Lizzie McGuire” has finally reunited –- though not for the much-anticipated series reboot.
Instead, Hilary Duff surprised fans by posting a Zoom table read to Instagram TV. The cast — including Jake Thomas as Lizzie’s little brother Matthew, Adam Lamberg as Gordo, Lalaine as Miranda and Hallie Todd and Robert Carradine as Lizzie’s parents — performed “Between a Rock and a Bra Place” to mark the episode’s 19th anniversary.
“We could not stop laughing reading lines from tween us,” Duff wrote in her caption. “This is the first time we were all ‘together-ish’ in almost 18 years!”
It’s been almost two decades since the show’s first episode. The formerly teenage cast is all grown up, and Lamberg and Thomas both sport mustaches.
Before the table read began, Duff explained how the virtual reunion came to be.

"The whole idea of this show is to test your will to go on." Wild Eye Releasing has unveiled an official trailer for a strange horror called Human Zoo, which is the most generic descriptive name for the film possible. The internet watches live, as reality-show contestants struggle against time to see who will stay in solitary confinement the longest and take home the one million dollar prize. The film stars Robert Carradine (the younger half-brother of David Carradine), Trista Robinson, Rachel Amanda Bryant, Jose Rosete, Jessica Cameron, Megan Le, and Heather Dorff. Even though this is supposed to be commenting on snuff films, it just looks and sounds and smells like a snuff film itself. Not sure how this can be entertaining. In a statement on Instagram Friday, Hillary Duff called on Disney to move the planned “Lizzie McGuire” revival from Disney+ to Hulu.
The series, a revival of the Disney Channel sitcom that launched Duff’s career, was put on hiatus last month after showrunner Terri Minsky exited the series over creative differences with the streamer. Minsky explained her exit in a recent interview with Variety, saying that her plan to make the show more “mature” didn’t fit with the family-friendly Disney+ brand.
Duff’s post backed Minsky’s original vision, suggesting that Disney should move the show to sister streaming network Hulu where it wouldn’t run up on the same content restrictions. The “Love, Simon” spinoff series “Love, Victor” recently made the same jump for much the same reasons.

Lizzie McGuire‘s return to television will come by way of Hulu, at least if series creator Terri Minsky — who was fired as showrunner in January — gets her wish.

Disney Plus does not seem to be figuring it out on the way when it comes to the “Lizzie McGuire” revival.
Production on the show halted in January after the firing of original series creator and revival showrunner Terri Minsky after just two episodes were completed. Her unceremonious exit has led many industry insiders to speculate that the revival will not move forward.
Series star Hilary Duff has remained mostly mum on the subject, but she has made her feelings known in some not-so-subtle ways. Late Tuesday night, Duff posted a screenshot to her Instagram story of a news headline about the planned Disney Plus “Love, Simon” series. Now titled “Love, Victor,” the show was moved this week to Hulu after it was deemed not “family-friendly” enough for the Disney-branded streamer. In her post, Duff circled the words “family-friendly” in the headline and wrote above it “Sounds familiar.”

Little has been said about the Lizzie McGuire revival since it emerged that original creator Terri Minskey was bowing out of the Disney+ series after filming just two episodes, with the series going on hiatus.
Now, it seems like Hilary Duff is speaking out about the issues surrounding the revival of the beloved series.
Earlier this week, Love Victor -- an upcoming sequel to the 2018 movie Love, Simon -- was revealed to be moving from Disney+ to Hulu.
While no official reason was given, multiple outlets reported that it was in relation to the content of the show, with it featuring themes that were allegedly too mature for Disney+.
Duff took to Instagram, sharing the headline with the following caption:

Hilary Duff is (sort of) speaking out about the problems surrounding her postponed Lizzie McGuire revival.
Before we dive in, here’s some context: Earlier this week, it was announced that Love, Victor — an upcoming series based on the 2018 gay rom-com Love, Simon — is relocating from Disney+ to Hulu. Multiple reports indicated that the move was made because Love, Victor‘s mature themes, including sexual exploration and drinking, feel more at home on an adult-oriented streaming service like Hulu.

There are changes at the wheel of the Disney+ revival of Lizzie McGuire.
Variety is reporting that original series creator Terri Minsky is stepping away from her showrunner and executive producer role on the highly anticipared series.
“Fans have a sentimental attachment to Lizzie McGuire and high expectations for a new series,” a Disney spokesperson explained.
“After filming two episodes, we concluded that we need to move in a different creative direction and are putting a new lens on the show.”
Creative differences are not uncommon when shows are early into production, but losing the showrunner and executive producer this early is not a good sign.
Minsky steered the TV series during its original 2001-04 Disney Channel run, so her exit this early into the process is surprising.

Lizzie McGuire is returning to our TV screens, and we couldn't be more pumped. In August, it was announced that Disney+ would be rebooting the beloved Disney Channel franchise for a brand-new series that follows a 30-year-old Lizzie navigating life in NYC. Though an official release date hasn't been announced yet, it's likely we won't have to wait too long to be reunited with our teenage hero now that filming is officially underway.
Production for Disney+'s High School Musical: The Musical: The Series this year started on Feb. 15, and the first season was eventually released on Nov. 12. If Lizzie McGuire follows a similar filming schedule, that could put the release date sometime around July 2020.
Over the past few weeks, we've been getting even more exciting tidbits about the upcoming series. In addition to getting glimpses of Lizzie's new style during filming, there have been quite a few big casting announcements.

Gordo was a fan-favorite in the original series created by Terri Minsky. He was smart, creative and was a bit of an outcast, but was loved by his inner circle of friends.
“Gordo was an essential piece of the puzzle to what made the original Lizzie McGuire so authentic and beloved,” said Duff, who reprises the title role. “I couldn’t imagine the series without him. I can’t wait for fans to see what he’s up to 15 years later and how he fits into Lizzie’s adult world.”

Our prayers have been answered, because Gordo is officially returning for the Lizzie McGuire reboot! On Wednesday, Disney+ announced that actor Adam Lamberg would be reprising his role as Lizzie's childhood best friend on the show. In the photo, Hilary Duff and Lamberg are all smiles as they sit at a table for two. Perhaps their characters are getting reacquainted after all this time apart?
While Gordo and Lizzie appeared to get together at the end of The Lizzie McGuire Movie, Duff recently confirmed that she is engaged to someone else in the reboot. "I feel like them not being together is what was so good [about the original series]," she told Vulture. "It's that one person that you're like, Was he the one? Is it ever going to be? You're always kind of wondering. We wanted it to hurt everyone a little bit, and it'll continue to hurt."
