In the trailer for the second season of Lioness, Zoe Saldaña says in voiceover, “There’s no such thing as a moral war. There’s survival, and there’s surrender.”
The opener sets up the tense first look at the return of the Paramount+ espionage thriller from Taylor Sheridan. The stellar cast is back — including Laysla De Oliveira, Genesis Rodriguez, Michael Kelly, and executive producers Morgan Freeman and Nicole Kidman — when season two premieres Oct. 27 with two episodes.
“How did we get to where we are today? Nobody’s innocent. Nobody,” Freeman impresses upon Kelly. Elsewhere, Kidman warns that no one can be trusted, while Saldaña stresses to a new recruit, “Do you love your country? Your country needs more.”
Here is the logline for season two: “As the CIA’s fight against terror moves closer to home, Joe (Saldaña), Kaitlyn (Kidman) and Byron (Kelly) enlist a new Lioness operative...

Anthony and Joe Russo, the Russo Brothers, have directed some of the biggest movies of all time, with their film Avengers: Endgame coming in second place just behind James Cameron’s Avatar… but that hasn’t made it any easier to get their sci-fi adventure film The Electric State out into the world. The project was first announced back in 2017, when the Russos purchased the film rights to the The Electric State graphic novel by Simon Stålenhag, with their frequent collaborators Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely working on the screenplay and Andy Muschietti in negotiations to direct. The project was set up at Universal in 2020, by which time Muschietti had stepped back into an executive producer role while the Russos took the helm. Then Universal passed it over to Netflix. Filming finally began in 2022 and wrapped in early 2023, with some reshoots taking place this year. Now it looks like The Electric State...

Like any great awards ceremony, some of the best surprises at the 2024 Emmys were those winners that had not quite been on people’s radars. To think that in all 10 years and five seasons that “Fargo” has been on the air, featuring celebrated performances from stars like Billy Bob Thorton, Kirsten Dunst, and Ewan McGregor, the first actor to win for their work on the anthology series is Lamorne Morris, with the “New Girl” alum even besting Robert Downey Jr. and his five different roles on “The Sympathizer.”
And far be it to bet against “The Bear,” which broke its own record for most Emmy wins for a single season of a comedy series but star Liza Colón-Zayas became the first Latina to ever win Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series, having won the category against icons Meryl Streep and Carol Burnett. Though that factoid went unmentioned during the...

Taylor Sheridan is arguably the greatest modern storyteller when it comes to Westerns, who breathed new life into the genre on both big and small screens over the last decade. While the revered writer has occasionally strayed away from the genre to delve into other projects like the Mayor of Kingstown, Westerns have completely dominated his filmography since his rise to prominence.

Many movies have dealt with the agonized grief that follows a child’s death. More than a few, notably “Pet Sematary” and its ilk, have dealt with the … er, awkwardness when said child unnaturally comes back to life, or at least un-death. Smoothly crafted but uninspired “Here After” tries to have it both ways, playing that resurrection for horror-adjacent creepiness that never quite goes anywhere, then pivoting to a sentimental mix of sacrifice and redemption similar to “faith-based entertainment” without quite making the commitment.

With the tantalizing gossip of Tom Holland and Zendaya’s high-profile romance swirling around, a blast from the past emerged online—a 2000s clip of Angelina Jolie and Billy Bob Thornton. Appearing on the red carpet together for Gone In 60 Seconds, Thornton’s infamous interview not only turned him into an Og rizz lord and perhaps an example for Holland but also launched us down a nostalgia-fueled rabbit hole.

During the interview with MTV, Billy Bob Thornton nonchalantly declared that he and Angelina Jolie had gotten busy in the car, on their way to the event itself. This resurfaced clip of casual delivery, coupled with the eyebrow-raising statement, left viewers stunned and amused. Even decades later, the interview is being hailed as the epitome of rizz that might require Tom Holland to take note of.

Jennifer Lopez starred alongside Daredevil star Vincent D’Onofrio for The Cell. Although the two got along well enough, Lopez felt she needed to keep her distance from D’Onofrio for the sake of the movie.

Welcome to the world of oil. Those are the ominous words that end the first trailer for “Landman,” Taylor Sheridan’s new drama series starring Billy Bob Thornton, Jon Hamm and Demi Moore. The show will premiere its first two episodes on Paramount+ Nov. 17.
“The oil and gas industry makes $3 billion a day in pure profit. And it’s only getting bigger,” Thornton’s Tommy Norris says in the opening of the trailer. He then outlines that to make that money, you need to do two things: secure the land and manage the people.
“First part’s pretty simple. It’s the second part that can get you killed,” Tommy says.
After he drops that bomb, disaster strikes. Dynamic shots of men in suits boarding private planes and Tommy in his cowboy hat are replaced by a scene of workers on an oil rig. The trailer then cuts to blast as the sound drops out.

However, the A-list actor occasionally bares her shoulders and back, showing off the extensive tattoos she’s added over the years.

Back in 2014, Sony found itself amidst a devastating hacking attack, leading to the leak of a boatload of confidential data from Sony Pictures Entertainment. This involved an appalling exchange between producer Scott Rudin and the former Sony studio head Amy Pascal, in which the former had some less-than-thrilling words about Angelina Jolie.

But despite being at the end of the insults in the exchange, she was unshaken by the producer’s comments, who claimed the actress was a minimally talented spoiled brat.

There’s not much in common between Minnesota housewife Dorothy “Dot” Lyon and British model turned marketing executive Keeley Jones, but Juno Temple has a theory about the two women. And she should know, since she played Dot in “Fargo” and Keeley in “Ted Lasso” and earned Emmy nominations for both.

“Deadpool and Wolverine” is now playing in theaters, and although Hugh Jackman probably won’t receive any major awards nominations for his anticipated return as his comic book character, he has been nominated for an Oscar as well as other major trophies throughout his career. Let’s look back at his many awards races.
After his breakthrough performance as Wolverine in the first “X-Men” film, Jackman spent most of the 2000s appearing in summer action blockbusters like “Swordfish” and “Van Helsing” as well as “X-Men” sequels and a prequel. He was never a serious awards contender for the 2001 romantic comedy “Kate & Leopold,” but he did receive his first Golden Globe nomination for Best Actor in a Motion Picture Musical or Comedy. The other nominees were Ewan McGregor for “Moulin Rouge!,” John Cameron Mitchell for “Hedwig and the Angry Inch,” Billy Bob Thornton for “Bandits” and Gene Hackman for “The Royal Tenenbaums,...

I've grown very fond of the "Terrifier" series — and I was not expecting this to happen. While I appreciated the practical gore effects, I found the first "Terrifier" movie to be a disappointment — it was a series of bloody moments with no real story to tell; an excuse to gross out audiences without much thought. Then came "Terrifier 2." Taking the criticisms of the first film to heart, writer-director Damien Leone decided to step things up and made a rather epic sequel. The results were big, weird, and pretty damn entertaining, and while there were still some flaws here and there, I came away impressed (you can read my review of the sequel right here). After "Terrifer 2," I've come to really appreciate the gruesome go-for-broke, DIY nature of this franchise, and I'm quite excited for "Terrifier 3," which drops new slasher icon Art the Clown into a Christmastime setting.

When Hallmark fans watch their favorite romcoms and mystery series, this is a comfort watch. However, some of the same actresses who are acting in this frothier world can certainly bring a lot of grit to roles that are not on the network. That includes a couple who are working on two different series with Yellowstone creator, Taylor Sheridan.
There are three new series that viewers may want to check out now and in the coming months.

The concept of good vs. evil is at the heart of almost every movie ever made, but how that antagonistic force takes shape always varies. We can look at certain genres, such as superhero films or horror movies, and envision what a villain looks like. Sometimes they'll wield a knife or an axe, or perhaps they'll attempt to destroy the world to gain incalculable power. But arguably some of the most terrifying antagonists in films can't be visualized in the same way, because they all emanate from nature; if nothing else, they become so much more terrifying specifically because you can't reason with these antagonists and they have no sentience like human beings.
