We learn of Reeve’s journey from a struggling young actor’s breakthrough role as the original Superman to his paralyzing horseback riding accident. Through it all, Reeve’s dedication to others despite his own struggles makes him the embodiment of heroism.
Reeve started simply, training as a theater actor but landing the role of a lifetime as Superman in 1978. With Richard Donner’s film a phenomenon, Reeve became a star yet retained his humility. When a tragic accident left him paralyzed, Reeve could have faded but instead fought to help others.

James Bond. Benoit Blanc. Joe Bang. These characters have become synonymous with Daniel Craig’s career. Now, Craig adds William Lee, a drug-addicted gay American expat, to that list in Luca Guadagnino’s sexually charged and fantastical love story, “Queer.” The film made its North American premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival on Monday, where Guadagnino and co-star Drew Starkey participated in a post-screening Q&a.
Craig’s sensitive and transformative portrayal of a emotionally fractured man could be his greatest performance yet. It might even land him at the center of the Oscar race for best actor — if the more conservative Academy voters aren’t squeamish about the film’s sexually graphic scenes or put off by its non-traditional narrative.
Based on William S. Burroughs’ 1985 novel, “Queer” follows Lee, an American expat living a life of near isolation, save for brief encounters with a small group of acquaintances. When...

Marvel Studios has a lot of intriguing titles on the horizon, which could very well help it set up the next generation of heroes (and villains) at the forefront of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Captain America: Brave New World will see Anthony Mackie's Sam Wilson lead the charge as the next Star-Spangled Man With A Plan, while The Fantastic Four: First Steps will officially introduce Marvel's First Family into the MCU.
Perhaps the most intriguing of the upcoming titles, however, is Thunderbolts*. Essentially described as Marvel's answer to the Suicide Squad, the titular team will feature a number of beloved MCU characters such as Bucky Barnes, Yelena Belova, and Red Guardian as they form an unlikely team to stop a threat they can't fight alone.
However, it turns out that another major MCU character might be in it after all. And given the title of the movie, that's not really that surprising.

Ford stepped into the role following the passing of William Hurt. He has already appeared in promotional materials for the movie, showcasing his transformation into the Crimson Giant.
Variety recently reported that Harrison Ford will reprise his role as Red Hulk in the upcoming Thunderbolts* movie, which has surprised and excited fans. However, Daniel Richtman, a usually reliable industry insider, has contradicted this claim, asserting that Red Hulk will not appear in the film at all.

The next addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Captain America: Brave New World, is set to reach theatres on February 14, 2025 – and this Captain America adventure, which sees Anthony Mackie’s character Sam Wilson, formerly known as Falcon, carrying the shield now that his pal Steve Rogers is retired, has some strong connections to the 2008 film The Incredible Hulk. Not only does it feature the Incredible Hulk character Thaddeus ‘Thunderbolt’ Ross (with Harrison Ford taking over for the late William Hurt), but Liv Tyler is reprising the role of Ross’s daughter Betty and Tim Blake Nelson is back as Samuel Sterns, also known as The Leader. During a chat with Variety, Nelson confirmed that he was pleased to have the opportunity to play Sterns again, and said that, despite talk of superhero fatigue and some of last year’s entries having disappointing box office returns, you should never “count Marvel out.

His reappearance was announced at the San Diego Comic-Con. At this annual pop-culture gala, Downey emerged from behind Doctor Doom’s signature face mask and cape at the last minute to surprise a crowd of fans.
Downey Jr.’s Upcoming Films And Characters
Downey Jr will reprise his role next in the May 2026 release of “Avengers: Doomsday” and again a year later for “Secret Wars.” Asked if he’s sick of performing endless variations on one character, Downey Jr, who turns 59 this year, told reporters, “I like playing complicated characters.”

As the MCU continues to expand its list of iconic characters, Harrison Ford’s portrayal of Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross aka Red Hulk in the upcoming Captain America: Brave New World, promises to be a game-changer. Considering fans’ demands surrounding the character of Hulk, Ford’s new role could offer unprecedented opportunities in the MCU.

Since fans have been awaiting Mark Ruffalo’s Green Hulk to smash things in the MCU and showcase his ultimate power, it seems a face-off between his character and Harrison Ford’s Red Hulk could be the ultimatum. Although according to comics, Red Hulk could literally chew and spit out Green Hulk, based on how he had destroyed Thor, there seems to be greater storylines awaiting fans.

M. Night Shyamalan knows that his 2004 movie "The Village" is experiencing a critical reevaluation.
Despite being a hit, the movie was not particularly well-liked upon its initial release. Roger Ebert called it "a colossal miscalculation," basically summing up the critical and audience reaction to it at the time; many viewers who didn't immediately guess the movie's twist ending felt it wasn't strong enough to support the rest of the film around it. But in the years since, the tide has slowly begun to turn and folks are coming around to what some of us at /Film have long shouted from the rooftops: "The Village" rules, actually.
"A lot of people keep coming up to me on the street," Shyamalan told us in a recent interview, speaking about his awareness of the film's slow reappraisal. He's so aware, in fact, that he's actively working on getting the movie a proper Blu-ray...

Harrison Ford joined the MCU for the most altruistic of reasons: money.
The actor told Variety that he had to not be “caring” about his performance to play President Thaddeus Ross in “Captain America: Brave New World.” Ford is making his Marvel debut after taking on the role originally played by late actor William Hurt in films ranging from 2008’s “The Incredible Hulk” to 2021’s “Black Widow.” Hurt died in March 2022 at age 71.
Ford, when asked what it took to turn him into the Red Hulk via motion capture, said, “What did it take? It took not caring. It took being an idiot for money, which I’ve done before.”
Ford added, “I don’t mean to disparage it. I’m just saying you have to do certain things that normally your mother would not want you to do — or your acting coach, if you had one. But it’s fun,...

Harrison Ford may not have taken a crash course in the lore of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but he seems to have had a good time taking on the role of President Thaddeus ‘Thunderbolt’ Ross in the upcoming film Captain America: Brave New World, which is set to reach theatres on February 14, 2025 – and he also appeared to have a blast while promoting the film at the recent San Diego Comic-Con. As given away in the film’s teaser trailer and on the teaser poster (seen at the bottom of this article), Ross transforms into the Red Hulk at some point in the movie, a fact that inspired Ford to do a Hulk roar when he took the stage at Comic-Con. Ford also did the motion capture performance for the Red Hulk, a process that he described as “being an idiot for money.”

Harrison Ford is confirmed to hulk out in next year’s Marvel tentpole “Captain America: Brave New World,” where he will be making his debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross. The character, originally played in the MCU by the late William Hurt, is now the president of the United States. Footage that premiered at Comic-Con also confirmed Ford would be transforming into the Red Hulk during the movie, which required a bit of motion-capture acting from the screen icon.
Speaking to Variety‘s Angelique Jackson on the Marvel press line at Comic-Con, Ford wisecracked about the motion capture process required to turn him into the Red Hulk by saying: “What did it take? It took not caring. It took being an idiot for money, which I’ve done before.”

Now that Deadpool & Wolverine is out, the meta film is expected to cross the billion-dollar mark in a matter of days, but also, fans of the MCU now have slightly more lore in regards to the multiverse that the sequel has added. One new aspect is the notion of an “anchor being” in every universe that keeps it alive and stable. This past week also saw two big guns that Marvel Studios brought to Comic-Con. One, of course, is the big reveal of Robert Downey Jr.’s return to the universe as Doctor Doom. The other is someone who is no stranger to the sci-fi culture world — Harrison Ford. Ford was happy to appear on stage for some fun hijinks with Anthony Mackie as well as hulking out now that Ford is revealed to be turning into Red Hulk in Captain America: Brave New World.

Anthony Mackie still remembers the funny jab that Tom Holland took at him at Ace Comic-Con Seattle 2018. When he appeared at the San Diego Comic-Con 2024 with his solo Marvel film Captain America: Brave New World, he made sure to fire back at Holland’s insult. During his presentation, Mackie humiliated Holland by sharing that he had Harrison Ford by his side for his solo film.

Harrison Ford says he is excited to be making his Marvel Cinematic debut as Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross/Red Hulk in next year’s “Captain America: Brave New World,” but maybe don’t ask him about any specifics related to the MCU. At this year’s Comic-Con, where Ford was on hand to promote the fourth “Captain America” tentpole, the actor was asked about elements of the MCU’s ever-expanding multiverse and appeared humorously baffled.
“‘Deadpool & Wolverine” set up anchor beings, meaning if they die the universe dies,” ScreenRant told Ford on the Marvel Comic-Con press line. “Who do you think would be the anchor being of 616? The universe you are in.”
“616?” Ford asked back in complete puzzlement. “I am in universe 616? I am out of my orbit!”

Movie icon Harrison Ford is set to make his highly-anticipated Marvel Cinematic Universe debut as Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross in the upcoming blockbuster Captain America: Brave New World. In a recent group interview, the legendary actor gave fans a glimpse of what to expect from his take on the iconic comic book character.
While promoting the new film, Ford was asked by Entertainment Weekly’s Gerard Hall to compare Ross to one of his most famous roles – Indiana Jones – in how each would handle snakes. Never one to give trivial answers, Ford dismissively replied “This is a ‘Who shot first, Greedo or Han Solo’ debate” while maintaining his signature wit.
Though he deflected discussing character comparisons, Ford has made no secret of his fondness for snakes. During a 2014 Reddit Ama, the Boy Scout alum reminisced about his days working as a nature counselor collecting and caring for serpents. “I actually like snakes!

“Captain America: Brave New World” is set to be released on February 14, 2025, as one of the first films in the MCU’s Phase Five. In a recent interview with Variety, Ford discussed why he accepted the role, and his candid, albeit blunt, explanation resonated with many fans.

The Marvel panel at Comic-Con was awesome! They showed some crazy footage from the new Captain America movie that’s got everyone excited. Take a look at what they revealed!
In a new scene, President Ross is speaking to world leaders at the White House. He talks about this huge mass they found in the Indian Ocean. Apparently it’s a huge chunk of some ancient alien dudes called Celestials! I had no idea what that was about but it sounds wild.
Then Ross drops this bomb – he introduces everyone to adamantium! If you read Marvel comics you know adamantium is this super tough metal that’s almost indestructible. Seeing it brought to life in the MCU is gonna shake things up for sure. It might even make vibranium, the metal from Black Panther’s homeland, look like aluminum foil in comparison!
I’m curious where this adamantium even came from too.

“Captain America: Brave New World” was a huge piece of Marvel’s massive Hall H presentation at San Diego Comic-Con this year, and an even more massive reveal: Red Hulk.
But we’re getting ahead of ourselves. As the segment began, from onstage Kevin Feige set the tone: “There was a movie called ‘Captain America: Winter Soldier that was grounded, relatively grounded.” He effectively added that the studio has returned to that “level of grounded action movie” within the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Speaking of grounded, the flying Captain America himself, Anthony Mackie (onstage with the rest of the cast) described Sam as being a “cerebral character,” linking his character to his first introduction in “Captain America: The Winter Soldier,” when he was a counselor.
Also revealed on stage: Giancarlo Esposito will be playing Sidewinder, the king of the Serpent Society, a comic book villain first introduced in 1980.

Among the films playing at this year’s prestigious Venice Film Festival is a documentary called From Darkness to Light, all about Jerry Lewis’ notorious 1972 Holocaust-set dramedy The Day the Clown Cried. The film was famously never released to the public, who, to be fair, weren’t exactly clamoring for a movie in which the guy from The Nutty Professor plays a circus clown who ushers children into the gas chambers.
Lewis’ directorial catastrophe has become the stuff of legend. Hardly any footage has ever surfaced online, and reports that The Day the Clown Cried would be screened by the Library of Congress last month turned out to be false.
But despite its pop-cultural infamy, this cursed project came close to being remade with another slapstick comedian with a reputation for being a huge asshole: Chevy Chase.
