Few people in Hollywood have track records so diverse and unique as Ryan Gosling. It’s hard to think of a genre the actor hasn’t tackled yet, and whatever he does, he does it brilliantly. In 2016, Gosling joined forces with Russell Crowe to create the most iconic mismatched duo of private investigators, and the movie they made both revived the greatest cop bromances of all time and brought a fresh take to the table.
The Nice Guys Is an Underrated Hit
To some, it might seem like it’s impossible to come up with something new and properly entertaining in the terribly overpopulated field of dynamic crime-fighting duos, noir settings, and crime comedies overall. And yet, 2016’s The Nice Guys managed to surprise the audience and critics by adding their own spin to the classic.

Can you believe we're already nearing the end of April? That means May is on the way — and summer is right around the corner. Here's hoping all these April showers do, indeed, turn into May flowers and bring on a pleasant spring. But while spring is often a season of new beginnings, it's time to say goodbye to several great titles that are currently streaming on Netflix but won't be around much longer. As always, there's a chance these movies and TV shows will return someday. For now, though, they're saying bye-bye. So act fast!
Below, I've highlighted some of the great titles you might want to watch Asap. The full list of titles leaving the service awaits you at the bottom. Let's get to it!

Sony returns to their own Marvel universe with the upcoming Kraven the Hunter, which has been bumped all over the release schedule. This week, it’s been bumped once more.
There was a time when Sony was going to unleash Kraven in theaters in October 2023, but the film was then bumped to August 2024. It’ll now release on December 13, 2024.
Kraven the Hunter will be the very first Marvel movie from Sony to be released into theaters with an “R” rating, with lots of bloody violence being promised.
Aaron Taylor-Johnson stars as the title character, Marvel’s ultimate predator.
“Kraven the Hunter is the visceral story about how and why one of Marvel’s most iconic villains came to be. Set before his notorious vendetta with Spider-Man, Aaron Taylor-Johnson stars as the titular character in the R-rated film.”

Sony’s Spider-Man Universe had a good idea at the start: bring together key characters from the Spiderverse. But they forgot something important: Spider-Man himself. Despite a few movies already, the universe hasn’t been received well, except for the ‘Venom’ series, which is ending this October.
The latest disappointment was ‘Madame Web.’ This December, we’re getting a movie about one of Spider-Man’s top villains, Kraven the Hunter. Let’s see what we know about it.
The movie will be rated “R”
We don’t have much info on the movie’s plot, but the villain was supposed to be in it earlier. Execs held off because his stories are pretty intense for older viewers. The movie will likely be rated “R,” but we’re still unsure which story it’ll use. In August 2018, Richard Wenk was hired to write the script, following his success with ‘The Equalizer 2.

Sony’s Spider-Man Universe started with the best intentions, it was supposed to gather the most important supporting characters from the Spiderverse, but they forgot one important thing, Spider-Man himself.
Despite, by now, having several installments, the cinematic universe wasn’t all that well-received with the exception of the ‘Venom’ franchise, which is scheduled to get its last installment this October. The latest flop in the Ssu was ‘Madame Web,’ and this December we’re bound to get a story centered around one of the most notable Spider-Man villains, Kraven the Hunter, so let’s see what we know about the movie.

Sony Pictures is playing a little release date shuffle this Friday evening. Kraven the Hunter, the upcoming Spider-Man spin-off starring Aaron Taylor-Johnson, was originally slated to hit theaters on August 30th, but the film has now been pushed back to a December 13th release. Kraven the Hunter‘s fresh release date was already occupied by the new Karate Kid movie, which has now been bumped to May 30, 2025.
Kraven the Hunter has been delayed several times already, but hopefully, this will be the last move. Coming on the heels of the less-than-impressive debuts of Morbius and Madame Web, this Spider-Man spin-off has a lot to prove, but with an R-rated edge, it could just turn the tide. Director J.C. Chandor has previously described the movie as a tragedy. “Sony probably doesn’t want me to lead with this. but the story is a tragedy,” Chandor said last summer. “When the final credits roll on this film,...

Kraven steps into a date that was occupied by fellow Sony pic The Karate Kid, a crossover event movie starring Ralph Macchio and Jackie Chan. Karate Kid now moves to May 30, 2025.

Remember how Liam Neeson, at one point in his career, decided he would play only action heroes and how most of his recent characters were basically Bryan Mills from Taken in a different context? Well, it seems that another acting legend has chosen the same path, as Oscar-winner Russell Crowe is once again going to play an exorcist in the upcoming movie The Exorcism, which is set to be released on June 7, 2024. Now, the first official trailer for the movie has been released and we are going to show it to you below.
Now, our introduction was – in case you do not know – like this because Russel Crowe starred as an exorcist in the 2023 movie The Pope’s Exorcist, which – believe it or not – has absolutely no connection to The Exorcism. It seems that Crowe liked the previous role so he decided to reprise it but in a completely unrelated movie.

Before I ever saw William Friedkin's classic horror film "The Exorcist," my mother gleefully shared with me all of the horrific urban legends and unexplained mysteries that surrounded the film's production. She believed, as do countless others, that "The Exorcist" was one of many cursed films. The face of a possessed Regan MacNeil was terrifying, to be sure, but movie magic meant to scare me couldn't hold a candle to the inexplicable dread that had me convinced filmmakers daring to tell this story made them a target for actual evil. While I'm old enough now to know better than to believe in cursed films, it's still a fascinating rabbit hole to fall into. Hell, the horror movie streaming app Shudder even has a two-season documentary series called, you guessed it, "Cursed Films" discussing cinema's most controversial and conspiracy-surrounded film sets. Now, a new narrative horror film is dabbling in the world of cursed films,...

It may not have been his plan, but Russell Crowe is capitalizing on the return of the iconic “The Exorcist” franchise with separate standalone religious horror films “The Exorcism,” out June 7, and 2023’s “The Pope’s Exorcist.”
Crowe leads Joshua John Miller’s “The Exorcism” as an actor facing demons — maybe literal ones. Russell Crowe plays an actor playing an exorcist in the first look at his meta horror movie. Check out the The Exorcism trailer below…
Earlier this week, we noted with some surprise that Russell Crowe – who memorably played Father Gabriele Amorth in last year’s The Pope’s Exorcist – is set to don his priestly garb once again for a new horror movie.
At the time, The Exorcism (previously known as The Georgetown Project) was but a twinkle in the UK release calendar's eye. Despite being picked up for distribution by Vertigo in the US, a UK date was, and remains, somewhat elusive.
But that won’t stop us from getting unreasonably excited about the film’s first trailer. Check it out below…

Another year, another exorcism horror movie for Russell Crowe, who may have found a new go-to role in this stage of his career. But “The Exorcism” isn’t in the same vein as “The Pope’s Exorcist” from last year. Instead, Joshua John Miller‘s film takes a meta twist on the possession movie premise, with Crowe as an actor whose psychological demons (and maybe some real ones) are plaguing him while working on a horror movie set.

"Can he be saved?" Vertical has revealed the official trailer for a horror thriller film titled The Exorcism, starring Russell Crowe - though it's not related to his other exorcism film The Pope's Exorcist from last year. This was originally titled The Georgetown Project, but they gave it this new title that will confuse people into thinking it's related to the classic The Exorcist. Though it sort of is. This film is made by Joshua John Miller, son of actor Jason Miller, who played the doomed Father Karras in the original Exorcist film. It's inspired by his experiences growing up knowing his dad played that role. A troubled actor begins to unravel while shooting a horror film. His estranged daughter wonders if he's slipping back into his past addictions or if there's something more sinister at play. Also starring Ryan Simpkins, Sam Worthington, Chloe Bailey, Adam Goldberg, Samantha Mathis, & David Hyde Pierce.

Crowe recently played real-life exorcist Father Gabriele Amorth in the supernatural horror film The Pope’s Exorcist, which could turn out to be a franchise starter. Reactions from an early test screening reveal that Ridley Scott’s Gladiator 2 is 160 minutes long, and suggest that it’s thankfully rather good.
A difficult production reportedly led Gladiator 2's budget to balloon to as much as $310m – a figure that Paramount has since disputed. All the same, there’s a lot riding on Ridley Scott’s expensive, highly-anticipated sequel to his own 2000 historical epic – we’ve been particularly looking forward to it since we learned that Paul Mescal will at some point fight a pack of baboons. More on that shortly.
Ahead of its release towards the end of the year, Gladiator 2 has been test-screened to a select audience in Las Vegas. That’s according to World of Reel’s Jordan Ruimy, who’s rather good at getting the inside word on early screenings such as this.
The gossip from this particular preview is that the...

The procedural shows have been popular with viewers for many years. Projects dedicated to the work of firefighters and other emergency personnel offer a 50-minute dose of drama and action.
Chicago Fire creators Michael Brandt and Derek Haas have been writing together since the 1990s. They sold their first script while Brandt was working as an assistant editor on Robert Rodriguez's The Faculty in 1998, but their first known project came five years later, a Fast and Furious sequel. Another famous film of the duo is the western 3:10 to Yuma with Russell Crowe and Christian Bale.
So, Brandt and Haas definitely know a thing or two about quality scripts.

Though Ryan Gosling’s latest hit Barbie may be the one with a lot of ways to go for sequels, Ken’s role is definitely not the one that most of the fans wanted the actor to reprise.
Before all the fuss with dolls, Gosling starred in a buddy action movie that eventually turned out to be quite a big hit with a plot flexible enough for expansion — but the actor’s recent update about the film’s future isn’t that promising.
Gosling is currently keeping busy with promoting his brand new movie The Fall Guy where he stars alongside Emily Blunt — and while the actor is pretty much open to talking about his role, journalists don’t skip an opportunity to get some more details about his previous works.

Ryan Gosling weighed in on the chances of his fan-favorite movie The Nice Guys getting a sequel.
The 43-year-old Barbie actor starred in the 2016 movie alongside Russell Crowe.
There were reports that the series would continue with a spinoff TV series and even hints of a possible sequel back when it first premiered.
However, nearly a decade later Ryan is not very optimistic about anything happening. He explained how one other movie might have skewered plans to develop a franchise.
Keep reading to find out more…
Speaking to ComicBook.com, Ryan explained that the movie’s chances for a sequel might have been destroyed by Angry Birds.

Dermot Mulroney didn’t have a Bff in any casting departments after starring in 1997 rom-com “My Best Friend’s Wedding.”
Mulroney shared with the New York Times that despite starring in the hit film alongside Julia Roberts and Cameron Diaz, he “probably didn’t work for a year” after its release. “My Best Friend’s Wedding” grossed almost $300 million at the global box office against its $35 million budget, and while Mulroney went on to continue his rom-com reign with “The Wedding Date” and more, there was not exactly a slew of immediately available roles with Dermot’s name on them.
“I was sitting there ready for the gift with purchase that was supposed to come along with being in a popular movie, and instead, I probably didn’t work for a year,” Mulroney said. “I chalked it up to me being so tiny on the poster, the little guy on the cake.

Acclaimed writer John Logan will adapt Pulitzer Prize-winning author Cormac McCarthy’s “Blood Meridian” novel into a feature film for director John Hillcoat.
Hillcoat is also producing along with Keith Redmon for New Regency. Cormac McCarthy’s son, John Francis McCarthy, will serve as executive producer, while Cormac, who died in June 2023, will receive a posthumous executive producer credit.
“It’s incredibly exciting to have John Logan on board,” John Francis said. “Very reassuring in the seemingly long list of good news concerning what was originally such an intimidating undertaking.”
The project was originally set up with director James Franco and star Russell Crowe in 2016, but fell apart over rights to the book.
Based on historical conflicts along the Texas-Mexico border in the 1850s, “Blood Meridian” follows the journey of the Kid, a fourteen-year-old from Tennessee, as he navigates the brutal and harrowing landscape of this new era.

Shane Black's 2016 cop comedy "The Nice Guys" was a winking, comedic riff on hard-boiled detective movies, meant to deconstruct the genre as much as pay homage to it. Set in Los Angeles in 1977, the plot revolves around the booming porn industry and the private investigators hired to look into a mysterious death. The central joke of "The Nice Guys" is that the main P.I.s, Holland March (Ryan Gosling) and Jackson Healy (Russell Crowe) are kind of bumbling idiots. They know how to investigate mysteries, but their central talents seem to be good luck and mere tenacity. Because the film was written by Black, the dialogue crackles and the characters vibrate with energy and life; Black doesn't write dialogue to be merely functional, preferring to give his characters wit and pathos.
"The Nice Guys" cost $50 million to make, but only ultimately earned about $71 million worldwide, which, in Hollywood terms, is a notable bomb.

Back in 2016, writer/director Shane Black (“Kiss Kiss Bang Bang”) released “The Nice Guys,” a comedic two-hander that starred Ryan Gosling (“Blade Runner 2029”) and Russell Crowe (“Gladiator”) in an unlikely team-up an odd-couple pair of private eyes investigating a missing girl and the mysterious death of a porn star. However, while the film was considered a solid effort, it didn’t do gangbusters at the box office, only earning $71.2 million globally against a budget of $50 million.

Ryan Gosling is revealing why sequel ideas for “The Nice Guys” flew the coop.
The Oscar-nominated actor reflected on the Shane Black-helmed 2016 dark comedy that was rumored to land a follow-up. However, according to Gosling, there was no “The Nice Guys” sequel due to animated film “The Angry Birds Movie” taking over their shared box office weekend.

Actor Ryan Gosling has an eclectic set of movies in his filmography, which has made him a versatile actor. Though the actor had his breakthrough with the romance flick The Notebook, he has branched out to action, comedy, sci-fi, and drama. Gosling was recently nominated for an Oscar for his performance as Ken in Greta Gerwig’s Barbie.
One of Gosling’s most underrated performances is the Shane Black-directed black comedy The Nice Guys. The neo-noir comedy sees him play a detective in the ‘70s along with Russell Crowe. Though the film is a cult classic now, it was a commercial failure. Gosling mentioned that the success of the animated movie The Angry Birds Movie ruined The Nice Guys’ chance for a sequel.

Shane Black’s 2016 comedy thriller The Nice Guys didn’t perform well enough to qualify for a sequel, and its co-star Ryan Gosling says the culprit was Angry Birds.
Those surprised by Ryan Gosling’s Oscar-nominated comedy turn in last year’s Barbie almost certainly missed The Nice Guys – writer-director Shane Black’s drily funny thriller from 2016. Co-starring with Russell Crowe, Gosling played Holland March, the worst private detective ever according to his own daughter, played by Angourie Rice.
Despite its two stars and some upbeat reviews behind it, The Nice Guys failed to catch on in cinemas, only making a shade over its $50m budget in ticket sales.

The Barbie actor told ComicBook.com, in an interview published online Tuesday, that there likely won’t be a follow-up because the original movie was overwhelmed by The Angry Birds Movie at the box office during its debut weekend.
“So much of a sequel, I think, is decided by the opening weekend of a movie, and we opened up against Angry Birds,” Gosling explained. “So Angry Birds just, just destroyed us. Angry Birds got a sequel.” The Angry Birds Movie 2 premiered in 2019.
And the Fall Guy star was right, as the Shane Black-directed film had a tough battle during its opening weekend. It was not only up against Angry Birds but also Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising. Additionally, Captain America: Civil War was in its third weekend in theaters, so Marvel fans also played a factor.

Ryan Gosling and Russell Crowe starred in The Nice Guys in 2016, but the movie didn’t get a sequel despite its positive reviews.
In a recent interview, the Barbie actor says he thinks the reason the action comedy film directed by Shane Black didn’t get a sequel was the opening box office numbers.
“So much of a sequel, I think, is decided by the opening weekend of a movie, and we opened up against Angry Birds,” Gosling told Comic Book in an interview. “So Angry Birds just, just destroyed us. Angry Birds got a sequel.”
The Angry Birds Movie had an opening weekend of $38M, easily topping The Nice Guys, which generated only $11.2M at the box office. On the same weekend, Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising opened to a $21.7M weekend. The films also had to fend off Marvel fans, with Captain America: Civil War earning $32.9M in its third weekend.

Before you get your hopes up for a sequel to Shane Black’s The Nice Guys, starring Ryan Gosling and Russell Crowe as a mismatched pair of private eyes, Gosling is throwing an angry bird at your chances for more off-color comedy from the detective duo. Speaking with Comicbook.com for his upcoming action film The Fall Guy, Gosling discussed the likelihood of teaming up with Crowe for a sequel to the fan-favorite comedy. Unfortunately, Gosling doesn’t think a Nice Guys sequel will happen and believe it or not, the Angry Birds Movie could be to blame.
According to Gosling, The Angry Birds Movie chucked a bomb at The Nice Guys at the box office during the film’s opening gambit.

Universal Pictures’ The Mummy franchise was a fan favorite when it starred Brendan Fraser as the leading man Rick O’Connell. The first two films in the trilogy were directed by Stephen Sommers, also starred Rachel Weisz and John Hannah, and were box office successes. However, the reboot starring Tom Cruise was a gigantic failure critically and commercially.
While Cruise’s film ended what Universal planned as a series of monster films with a shared universe, a recent fan-made trailer seemed to have followed it up with a new cast. The new trailer is titled The Mummy: Resurrection and sees Keanu Reeves take over the franchise to battle a new evil spirit buried in an Egyptian tomb.

Dan Stevens is everywhere lately, from Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire to Abigail and the upcoming Cuckoo. We’re not complaining. Up next? He’s starring in horror movie The Ritual.
Al Pacino and Dan Stevens have both joined the cast of the upcoming exorcism horror movie from XYZ Films and director David Midell, Variety reports this afternoon.
Based on a true story, the film “follows two priests — one questioning his faith (Stevens) and one reckoning with a troubled past (Pacino) — who must put aside their differences to save a possessed young woman through a difficult and dangerous series of exorcisms.”
Variety details, “The film is an authentic portrayal of Emma Schmidt, an American woman whose demonic possession culminated in harrowing exorcisms. Her case remains the most thoroughly documented exorcism in American history.”
David Midell and Enrico Natale wrote the screenplay for The Ritual.
