- DirectorSatyen BoseStarsAshok KumarMadhubalaAnoop KumarThree woman-hating brothers face changes in their respective lifestyles when two of them fall in love. This movie is pure entertainment and fun all the way. Packed with comedy, romance and heart, it is a MUST WATCH. Sigh.. why don't they make such movies anymore?!
- DirectorBimal RoyStarsDilip KumarSuchitra SenVyjayanthimalaThe scion of a wealthy landowner family turns to alcohol and self-pity and slowly self-destructs after class differences force him to break off his relationship with his childhood sweetheart.A film that captured the predicament and psychology of Devdas, Paro and Chandramukhi really well. It did full justice to the novel. Hands down, Vyjayantimala and Dilip Kumar's finest.
- DirectorRaj KapoorStarsRaj KapoorNargisPrithviraj KapoorA poor young man named Raj joins a criminal gang to feed his mother. But when he falls in love with Rita, he decides to reform himself for her.
- DirectorGuru DuttStarsWaheeda RehmanGuru DuttKumari NaazSuresh Sinha, a famous director, discovers star potential in Shanti, a woman he stumbled into one rainy evening, and casts her as the lead in a film. In a twist of fate, Shanti becomes a superstar and Suresh faces a decline in his career.
- DirectorGuru DuttStarsGuru DuttWaheeda RehmanMala SinhaVijay, a talented but indigent poet, struggles for love and recognition in this selfish world. There were parts of the film that I struggled to get through. Nonetheless, this will always remain a classic for its ever so relevant message and Guru Dutt's fine direction. That man was a true visionary. A must watch for all!
- DirectorBimal RoyStarsAshok KumarMeena KumariAsitbaranLove blossoms between the son of wealthy man and his middle class neighbor. But their romance is put to the test both by a feud between the families and by the entrance of a rival for the girl's affection.A nuanced and understated version of Parineeta, with very subtle performances by Meena Kumari and Ashok Kumar. I would recommend this over the 2005 version.
- DirectorGuru DuttStarsMadhubalaGuru DuttLalita PawarA young woman must be married to claim her inheritance; her misandrist aunt uses the newly-passed 1955 divorce bill to find her a temporary husband. This film has definitely not aged well with it's regressive views on domestic violence and women's rights. I would have given this a pure 10 if not for Lalita Pawar's problematic character. The best way to enjoy it is to focus on Guru Dutt / Madhubala's adorable chemistry. Afterall, it was the only romcom Guru Dutt ever did.
- DirectorVijay BhattStarsMeena KumariBharat BhushanSurendraIn Mughal Emperor Akbar's court, young musician Baiju challenges maestro Tansen to a musical duel in order to avenge the death of his father, which he holds Tansen responsible for.Melodramatic at points especially the second half, but Bharat Bhushan and Meena Kumari rose above that with their natural performances. And boy, that score! Wonderful!
- DirectorBimal RoyStarsDilip KumarVyjayanthimalaJohnny WalkerA young man takes shelter in a mansion when a landslide blocks his route to the railway station. Then, he finds the mansion familiar and soon learns about the story of his previous birth.
- DirectorSubodh MukherjiStarsDev AnandNutanGajanan JagirdarAn incompetent lawyer gets evicted, dons the guise of an old man to gain accommodation, falls for the owner's daughter, then faces numerous life-changing challenges. This film was all over the place. It was an adorable romcom for the first hour with Dev Anand and Nutan's characters falling in love and then suddenly turned into a murder plot. Too much focus on secondary characters in the 2nd half. If only it remained a romcom between the leads..
- DirectorAmiya ChakrabartyStarsNutanBalraj SahniSunderAn orphan gets in trouble with the law and is sent to a home for young women. There, for the first time, she finds friendship, compassion, and possibly love.
- DirectorMehboob KhanStarsNargisSunil DuttRajendra Kumar TuliIn this melodrama, a poverty-stricken woman raises her sons through many trials and tribulations. But no matter the struggles, she always sticks to her own moral code.

- DirectorBimal RoyStarsKamini KaushalAbhi BhattacharyaShakuntalaNilambhar Chakravorty belongs to a poor family, and lives in a joint family with his married brother, Pitambar, unmarried sister, Punnu, and wife, Biraj. Since his sister is of marriageable age, he arranges her marriage, and borrows some money. When Pitambar comes to know about this, he refuses to share any expense in his sister's marriage, and decides to separate, resulting in a fence being put up between their homes. Nilambher, unable to find employment, is unable to pay back the loan, and soon both he and his wife barely have enough to live on. To complicate matters further, Deodhar, a wealthy young contractor has his eye on Biraj's beauty and would like to be intimate with her, in return for money and a better life. He even hires Biraj's maidservant, Sundari, to lure Biraj to him. One day when Nilambher goes to attend a funeral in a nearby town, and does not come home for two days. When he returns he is told that Biraj had been seen hear Deodhar's place. When he questions her, she refuses to explain and he asks to get out of his house, which she does, and eventually disappears from his life altogether. All Nilambher hears is rumors that Biraj has run away with Deodhar and is leading a comfortable life, but no one knows for sure where she is or why she refused to explain to Nilambher where she was that night.
- DirectorGuru DuttStarsDev AnandGeeta BaliKalpana KartikAn ace gambler is forced to join a gambling syndicate in order to pay for the treatment of his ill sister and is framed for murder when he expresses his desire to get out.
- DirectorRaj KhoslaStarsDev AnandShakilaJohnny WalkerA newspaper editor gets murdered when he was about to expose the underworld links of a rich person. So, a C.I.D inspector gets assigned to investigate the murder case.

- DirectorRam DaryaniStarsMadhubalaDilip KumarShyamaA young doctor returning from abroad is stranded in a village when his plane develops trouble and crashes. He meets and falls in love with a beautiful local village girl, who happens to be the daughter of his blind host. The villagers don't look kindly on this, especially one particular young man who was courting the girl himself. He hatches a plot to drive the doctor out of the village, defiling the girl's character in the process. The lovers are separated and a misleading event has the doctor believing that his sweetheart is dead, and he resigns himself to a loveless marriage and a dejected life. Meanwhile, the girl loses her father in a fire and sets out in search of her lover.
- DirectorHrishikesh MukherjeeStarsShekharSuchitra SenBipin GuptaThe story is about a house consisting of three families who live in it. It is three stories linked by the house.
