Re-Visiting "Good" Movies: The Biggest Letdowns
Movies that were good the first time around, but then turned out to disappoint or even stink the second time around.
Returning to a movie after many years (meaning at least 10-15 years, sometimes as many as 40) can be very interesting. You don't know what you're getting: a better movie, a movie equally good as the first time around, a minor disappointment, or even a total letdown.
Obviously, I don't have the option of "much better than before" because I nearly always re-visit films that already got a rating of 7/10 or higher, usually 8/10 or higher, so there isn't much room for drastically improved impressions.
Most of them turn out to have about the same or similar level as before i.e. as expected. Roughly every 5th or 6th re-visit ends in disappointment. Very few films turn out to get a higher ranking because, as I said, there is usually nowhere to go from a high ranking but down.
I decided to not include the minor disappointments, i.e. when I reduced the rating by just one point (out of ten). A minimum two points drop is required in order for a film to be included here.
One of the reasons why these things happen is that tastes (slightly) change, but even more so that criteria changes, plus because I used to rate somewhat less strictly than I do in recent years - which is part of the reason why including one-point drops is unnecessary.
Listed in approximate order from biggest to milder disappointments.
