- DirectorEdward DmytrykStarsSam WanamakerLea PadovaniKathleen RyanOne of the few (if any at the time this film was made) films shot in England with New York City's 'Little Italy" as the locale. This was Edward Dmytryk's first film after he had refused to tell a Congressional Committee whether or not he was, or had ever been, a member of the Communist Party. This is a 'runaway production' shot in England for political reasons and not for the usual USA tax-break reasons. Geremio, a young Italian immigrant to New York City, works as a bricklayer and is courting an Italian girl, Annunziata, by mail. He lies to her that he owns his own home and, after they are married, has to rent one for their three-day honeymoon. The years pass and they are unable to save enough money to get out of their slum tenement, and the 1929 depression brings even harder times to the family that now includes three children. Geremio, in order to make enough money to care for his family, exploits his "comrades" in dangerous construction work. This practice leads to the accidental death of his best friend, and, in grief, Geremio also becomes unfaithful to his wife. The messages of the film -- life is aimless and no man can judge the true worth of another man -- are pounded on for most of the two-hour running time.
- DirectorGiuseppe FerraraStarsMassimo GhiniMassimo DapportoAntonello FassariA bomb blows up in Milan and five people die. Judge Francesca Savona who has to investigate the case and is already investigating the Secret Service slush funds is not convinced by Ravida. She asks for the help of detective Carlo Tommasi who has the reputation of being an honest policeman and is able to get it from the Minister. In the meantime Fossati fled, warned by a call. The inquiry begins but the atmosphere is corrupt and it is difficult to tell friend from foe.

The wedding takes place with all the pomp and circumstance expected by all but the wedding night is less impressive as "Bluebeard" falls asleep, failing to honor his young wife. And just guess what the blushing bride does the next morning? She of course goes to the secret room to know everything about the secret beyond the door. But what she sees once the door is opened with the mysterious golden key has nothing to do with the legend...

- DirectorGeorge HoelleringStarsJohn GroserDonald BissetClement McCallinThe tape version, if one exists, may be 114 minutes but the film, on original release, ran the same 140 minutes in the USA as it did in England. It is an experimental transposition of the Eliot play to the screen and, as such, and Eliot a poet, the film deals more with sound and meaning than it does film movement, i.e., static shots with voice overs. It is the story of Thomas Becket, Archbishop of Canterbury, and his struggles against temptation and personal vanity prior to his murder in the great Cathedral.
