- DirectorTom GeorgeStarsKieran HodgsonPearl ChandaGregory CoxIn the West End of 1950s London, plans for a movie version of a smash-hit play come to an abrupt halt after a pivotal member of the crew is murdered.I had wanted to watch this for a while. It took me too long, but it was hilarious and stylish when I finally saw it.
- DirectorAkira KurosawaStarsToshirô MifuneTakashi ShimuraKeiko TsushimaFarmers from a village exploited by bandits hire a veteran samurai for protection, who gathers six other samurai to join him.It is a true classic, and the runtime is worth it.
- DirectorTakao OkawaraStarsTetsuya BesshoSatomi KobayashiTakehiro MurataJapan is caught in the middle of a three way battle between Godzilla, the divine Mothra, and her dark counterpart Battra.A good edition to the Godzilla Heisei era, the only era I need to finish to finish the whole series.
- DirectorRobert J. HornerStarsJack PerrinFred ChurchJosephine HillStaying one step ahead of the law, the Apache Kid helps out a cowboy in trouble.A very, very bad western. The worst film I’ve seen this year.
- DirectorSergio CorbucciStarsCameron MitchellGeorges RivièreEthel RojoWrongfully imprisoned for a crime he did not commit, Minnesota Clay seeks revenge on the man who withheld evidence at his trial. The catch: he is going blind.Sergio corbucci’s second western has flaws, but is entertaining.
- DirectorTony ScottStarsTom CruiseTim RobbinsKelly McGillisAs students at the United States Navy's elite fighter weapons school compete to be best in the class, one daring young pilot learns a few things from a civilian instructor that are not taught in the classroom.I finally watched this 80’s classic so I could see the new one. It looks great and is a fun time, even if it lacks plot or much substance. Not particularly good, but very entertaining and memorable.
- DirectorClint EastwoodStarsClint EastwoodVerna BloomMarianna HillA gun-fighting stranger comes to the small settlement of Lago and is hired to bring the townsfolk together in an attempt to hold off three outlaws who are on their way.I’m a big Eastwood fan, but I was disappointed. It should’ve been good, but the protagonist is unlikeable and misogynistic, and it’s just generally not very well-written. Clint causing chaos in a western town is funny at times, but not enough for a 100 minute movie.
- DirectorDavid RoyStarsDanny McCartyJackey Neyman JonesElizabeth RedpathPrequel to Manos: The Hands of Fate. The Manos series is notorious; the first film is one of the worst ever made. Here is the prequel, which is my first ever 1-star rating for a film. The first one is fun as bad as it is, so I gave it a high rating, but this is just absolutely stupid and cheap, and can’t decide if it’s a parody or a serious film.
- DirectorWim WendersStarsYella RottländerRüdiger VoglerLisa KreuzerA German journalist is saddled with a nine-year-old girl after encountering her mother at a New York airport.A masterpiece from Wim Wenders that definitely inspired one of my favorite directors, Jim Jarmusch.
- DirectorOrson WellesStarsJoseph CottenVirginia NicolsonEdgar BarrierA woman has two lovers. When one man finds out about the other, he acts as a villain and chases after the protagonist.Orson Welles’ first film, which never finished the editing process due to legal issues involving the source material, may be very unfocused, but it’s well shot and has some we’d very funny moments.
- DirectorSylvester StalloneStarsSylvester StalloneTalia ShireBurt YoungRocky struggles in family life after his bout with Apollo Creed, while the embarrassed champ insistently goads him to accept a challenge for a rematch.Rocky 2 is a great sequel that may be predictable and may be more concerned with spectacle and popularity the character, but it is still strong in all the ways the first one was.
- DirectorJohn FordStarsJohn WayneJoanne DruJohn AgarCaptain Nathan Brittles, on the eve of retirement, takes out a last patrol to stop an impending massive Indian attack. Encumbered by women who must be evacuated, Brittles finds his mission imperiled. This Wayne/Ford war western is a bit short, but still entertaining, sentimental and visually appealing.
- DirectorTenny WrightStarsJohn WayneDukeFrank McHughA greedy businessman-turned-renegade foments an Indian uprising against the coming telegraph to perpetuate his economic stranglehold on the territory.Though there are certainly problems, and this may be pretty much a cartoon, but it’s use of stock footage elevates it beyond its budget, and it has all the silly action you’d hope for from a b-western.
- DirectorJoseph KaneStarsJohn WayneMuriel EvansCy KendallIn Cottonwood, Texas, claim-jumper Alexander Stiles killed John Clayborn's parents when they refused to sell their ranch to him. Ten years later, John, now a lawyer, returns under the name of John Clay to exact vengeance. The lack of music in the b-western severely affects the film, and beyond that, it’s just not particularly interesting.
- DirectorDuccio TessariStarsGiuliano GemmaFernando SanchoLorella De LucaAn 'angel-faced' gunfighter is tasked with infiltrating a ranch overrun by Mexican bandits and saving their hostages, including the fiancée of the local sheriff.A lighthearted but gritty spaghetti western classic.
- DirectorMarlon BrandoStarsMarlon BrandoKarl MaldenPina PellicerAfter robbing a bank in Mexico, Dad Longworth absconds with the loot leaving his partner Rio to be captured by the Rurales. Rio escapes prison but struggles with his conflicting desires to love Dad's stepdaughter Louise and to get revenge. This great and influential western epic may be long, but it was originally going to be 6 hours, so that’s okay! You can tell there were cuts, but it delivers all the grit, action and style you’d want in a western, and much more.
- DirectorAlfred HitchcockStarsJohn ForsytheShirley MacLaineEdmund GwennHarry's dead and, while no one really minds, everyone feels responsible. After Harry's body is found in the woods, several locals must determine not only how and why he was killed but what to do with the body. This Hitchcock film is bizarre, and the acting is occasionally stiff, but it still has a memorable dark sense of humor. However, I think the play didn’t need to be adapted into a movie.
- DirectorRobert RodriguezStarsAntonio BanderasSalma HayekJoaquim de AlmeidaFormer musician and gunslinger El Mariachi arrives at a small Mexican border town after being away for a long time. His past quickly catches up with him and he soon gets entangled with the local drug kingpin Bucho and his gang. This stylish, beautiful and violent film may have a lot of unnecessary blood and a very thin plot, but justifies it in great direction and performances. One of Robert Rodriguez’s best films.
- DirectorMartin ScorseseStarsDaniel Day-LewisMichelle PfeifferWinona RyderA tale of nineteenth-century New York high society in which a young lawyer falls in love with a woman separated from her husband, while he is engaged to the woman's cousin.A truly subtle and tragic Scorsese romance classic.
- DirectorRobert ZemeckisStarsTom HanksHelen HuntPaul SanchezA FedEx executive undergoes a physical and emotional transformation after crash landing on a deserted island. This Zemeckis/Hanks classic is just as great as the critics say.
- DirectorEmile ArdolinoStarsPatrick SwayzeJennifer GreyJerry OrbachSpending the summer at a Catskills resort with her family, Frances "Baby" Houseman falls in love with the camp's dance instructor, Johnny Castle. This movie has a preposterous ending and a predictable story, but the performances are still charming, and the filmmaking is competent, even if not particularly great.
- DirectorRobert RodriguezStarsAntonio BanderasSalma HayekJohnny DeppHitman "El Mariachi" becomes involved in international espionage involving a psychotic CIA agent and a corrupt Mexican general.I love Depp, Rodriguez Rourke, Dafoe and Banderas, but the story in this film is messy, and it’s overall just too high on its own supply.
- DirectorBill KarnStarsJohnny CashDonald WoodsCay ForesterA murderous thug and his cohorts take a bank executives wife hostage after their robbery plans go awry. This was a surprisingly good, suspenseful thriller with a delightfully crazed Cash performance and serious, tense tone.
- DirectorMichael SarnoskiStarsNicolas CageAlex WolffAdam ArkinA truffle hunter who lives alone in the Oregon wilderness must return to his past in Portland in search of his beloved foraging pig after she is kidnapped.A tragic and unique indie film.
- DirectorSam RaimiStarsSharon StoneGene HackmanRussell CroweA female gunfighter returns to a frontier town where a dueling tournament is being held, which she enters in an effort to avenge her father's death.Though Sharon Stone’s performance is weak and sometimes unintentionally funny, the action, production design, costume design and set design are beautiful. The villain and all side characters all have big personalities, and are always well-acted.
- DirectorMartin ScorseseStarsHarvey KeitelZina BethuneAnne ColletteA young man can't accept the girl he likes because of her bitter past.Scorsese’s first pic shows talents from a budding director, but you can tell it’s cheap and, other than an intimate portrait of a small-time thug’s life, is just doesn’t have much to offer, or at least not enough for a full film.
- DirectorAndrew V. McLaglenStarsJohn WayneForrest TuckerChristopher GeorgeCattle baron John Chisum joins forces with Billy the Kid and Pat Garrett to fight the Lincoln County land war. This movie is exactly what you’d expect from a Wayne movie. That’s a good thing.
- DirectorMark RydellStarsJohn WayneRoscoe Lee BrowneBruce DernRancher Wil Andersen is forced to hire inexperienced boys as cowhands in order to get his herd to market on time but the rough drive is full of dangers and a gang of cattle rustlers is trailing them. This drama has great performances that carry the scenes and are put in front of story. In this case, that’s a good thing. But the bizarre, stupid, cartoonish ending is frustrating.
- DirectorKarl Heinz MartinStarsErnst DeutschErna MorenaRoma BahnA Cashier in a bank in a small German town is alerted to the power of money by the visit of a rich Italian lady. He embezzles 60, 000 Marks and leaves for the capital city, where he attempts to find satisfaction in politics, sport, love and religion.Even if the basic story can be confusing, the German Expressionist visuals and message about greed make the film worth watching.
- DirectorMichael LehmannStarsWinona RyderChristian SlaterShannen DohertyAt Westerburg High where cliques rule, jocks dominate and all the popular girls are named Heather, it's going to take a Veronica and mysterious new kid to give teen angst a body count.A comedic classic with darkly hilarious moments and an iconic performance from Christian Slater.
- DirectorJordan PeeleStarsDaniel KaluuyaKeke PalmerBrandon PereaThe residents of a lonely gulch in inland California bear witness to an uncanny and chilling discovery.A weird masterpiece of sci-fi horror.
- DirectorParker FinnStarsSosie BaconJessie T. UsherKyle GallnerAfter witnessing a bizarre, traumatic incident involving a patient, a psychiatrist becomes increasingly convinced she is being threatened by an uncanny entity. From first time feature director Parker Finn comes a tense, terrifying and surprisingly good horror movie. One of the Brady of the previous year.
- DirectorMartin McDonaghStarsColin FarrellBrendan GleesonKerry CondonTwo lifelong friends find themselves at an impasse when one abruptly ends their relationship, with alarming consequences for both of them.I finally saw this masterpiece. It creates a unique tone and is an occasionally funny but often dark and sad film.
- DirectorRobert N. BradburyStarsJohn WayneVerna HillieGeorge 'Gabby' HayesA gang working for The Shadow is terrorizing the town. John Travers decides to take on the job of sheriff and do something about it.I admire the added mystery element in this film, but it’s just a boring b-movie. The idea could have been good, but it doesn’t even try to be.
- DirectorEthan CoenJoel CoenStarsTim Blake NelsonWillie WatsonClancy BrownSix tales of life and violence in the Old West, following a singing gunslinger, a bank robber, a traveling impresario, an elderly prospector, a wagon train, and a perverse pair of bounty hunters.Very good Western vignette film.
- DirectorSylvester StalloneStarsSylvester StalloneTalia ShireBurt YoungRocky faces the ultimate challenge from a powerful new contender, and must turn to a former rival to help regain his throne as the undisputed fighting champion.“No, I don’t hate him. But I pity the fool!”
This has basic Rocky formula, but isn’t written in a basic way. Rocky’s journey is genuinely difficult, and it’s very entertaining. - DirectorWes CravenStarsNeve CampbellCourteney CoxDavid ArquetteTwo years after the first series of murders, as Sidney acclimates to college life, someone donning the Ghostface costume begins a new string of killings. My least favorite scream movie, but it’s still good.
- DirectorRichard LinklaterStarsJack BlackMike WhiteJoan CusackAfter being kicked out of his rock band, Dewey Finn becomes a substitute teacher of an uptight elementary private school, only to try and turn his class into a rock band.Very good existential comedy.
- DirectorEthan ManiquisRobert RodriguezStarsDanny TrejoMichelle RodriguezRobert De NiroAfter being set-up and betrayed by the man who hired him to assassinate a Texas Senator, an ex-Federale launches a brutal rampage of revenge against his former boss. Not too ridiculous like it’s sequel, not too contained for Robert Rodriguez. One of his best movies.
- DirectorJohn FarrowStarsJohn WayneGeraldine PageWard BondArmy dispatch rider Hondo Lane discovers a woman and young son living in the midst of warring Apaches and becomes their protector.A good, short and simple John Wayne western.
- DirectorWoo-Ping YuenStarsRongguang YuDonnie YenJean WangA martial artist/doctor steals from the corrupt authorities as a masked thief to give to the poor while another martial artist/doctor is forced to hunt him down. But a major threat unites them as a powerful and traitorous shaolin monk takes over the authorities.A funny martial arts action film with impressive set piece scenes and charming characters.
- DirectorJames MangoldStarsRussell CroweChristian BaleBen FosterA small-time rancher agrees to hold a captured outlaw who's awaiting a train to go to court in Yuma. A battle of wills ensues as the outlaw tries to psych out the rancher. This gritty western drama has an unexpectedly emotional ending, and plenty of action and intensity leading up to it.
- DirectorRob MarshallStarsJohnny DeppPenélope CruzIan McShaneJack Sparrow and Barbossa embark on a quest to find the elusive fountain of youth, only to discover that Blackbeard and his daughter are after it too.Not as good as Al Gore’s original trilogy, but still fun.
- DirectorSergio GarroneStarsAnthony SteffenWilliam BergerNicoletta MachiavelliDjango and Santana are bounty hunters taking out bandits in a small Western town. An evil landowner smuggling illegal immigrants and the men that work for him have mighty fine prices on their heads. So it only makes sense that Django and Santana would come-a-callin' before long.A decent spaghetti western.
- DirectorJames CameronStarsSam WorthingtonZoe SaldanaSigourney WeaverJake Sully lives with his newfound family formed on the extrasolar moon Pandora. Once a familiar threat returns to finish what was previously started, Jake must work with Neytiri and the army of the Na'vi race to protect their home.Pretty much the same as the original, but in my opinion, better.
- DirectorWolfgang PetersenStarsHarrison FordGary OldmanGlenn CloseCommunist radicals hijack Air Force One with the U.S. President and his family on board. The Vice President negotiates from Washington D.C., while the President, a veteran, fights to rescue the hostages on board.Though it’s not original, it brings a fresh intensity and great performances to its cliched story.
- DirectorFrancis Ford CoppolaStarsJeff BridgesJoan AllenMartin LandauThe story of Preston Tucker, the maverick car designer and his ill-fated challenge to the auto industry with his revolutionary car concept.A comedy with energetic performances and success in recreating the glamour of the 1950s
- DirectorWes CravenStarsDavid ArquetteNeve CampbellCourteney CoxWhile Sidney and her friends visit the Hollywood set of Stab 3, the third film based on the Woodsboro murders, another Ghostface killer rises to terrorize them.An underrated film in the Scream franchise. It may go too far into comedy and parody bad horror sequels by being pretty stupid at times, but I still like it.
- DirectorMartin ScorseseStarsLeonardo DiCaprioEmily MortimerMark RuffaloTeddy Daniels and Chuck Aule, two US marshals, are sent to an asylum on a remote island in order to investigate the disappearance of a patient, where Teddy uncovers a shocking truth about the place.A creepy masterpiece on tone, mystery and suspense.
- DirectorAlfred HitchcockStarsLaurence OlivierJoan FontaineGeorge SandersA self-conscious woman juggles adjusting to her new role as an aristocrat's wife and avoiding being intimidated by his first wife's spectral presence. The thousandth movie I rated on IMDB, and it’s a great movie.
- DirectorClint EastwoodStarsClint EastwoodMarsha MasonEverett McGillHard-nosed, hard-living Marine Gunnery Sergeant Tom Highway clashes with his superiors and his ex-wife as he takes command of a spoiled recon platoon with a bad attitude. It doesn’t quite work as a comedy but has too thin a plot and too much comedy for a drama. Still, it is certainly entertaining.
- DirectorJared HessStarsJon HederEfren RamirezJon GriesA listless and alienated teenager decides to help his new friend win the class presidency in their small western high school, while he must deal with his bizarre family life back home.A weird, experimental film that is lesser than the sum of its parts, but it has iconic lines sprinkled throughout and funny characters.
- DirectorStephen ChboskyStarsLogan LermanEmma WatsonEzra MillerCharlie, a 15-year-old introvert, enters high school and is nervous about his new life. When he befriends his seniors, he learns to cope with his friend's suicide and his tumultuous past.I hate to say it, but Ezra Miller׳s performance is one of the best parts of this.
- DirectorSylvester StalloneStarsSylvester StalloneTalia ShireBurt YoungRocky Balboa proudly holds the world heavyweight boxing championship, but a new challenger has stepped forward: Drago, a six-foot-four, 261-pound fighter who has the backing of the Soviet Union.Very stupid.
- DirectorWes CravenStarsNeve CampbellCourteney CoxDavid ArquetteTen years have passed, and Sidney Prescott, who has put herself back together thanks in part to her writing, is visited by the Ghostface Killer. The lighting makes it look like a summer inspirational movie, and the new generation of teens we meet isn’t so interesting, but the good outweighs the bad.
- DirectorDavid Gordon GreenStarsNicolas CageTye SheridanGary PoulterAn ex-con, who is the unlikeliest of role models, meets a 15-year-old boy and is faced with the choice of redemption or ruin.Another great Nic Cage indie drama.
- DirectorPeyton ReedStarsPaul RuddEvangeline LillyMichael DouglasScott Lang and Hope Van Dyne are dragged into the Quantum Realm, along with Hope's parents and Scott's daughter Cassie. Together they must find a way to escape, but what secrets is Hope's mother hiding? And who is the mysterious Kang?Really weird and a bit too comedic, but still a fun action adventure.
- DirectorF. Gary GrayStarsIce CubeChris TuckerNia LongIt's Friday, and Craig and Smokey must come up with $200 they owe a local bully or there won't be a Saturday.A comedy classic that proves that you can make a fun movie where almost everything happens on a front porch.

Maybe the best Scream film other than the original.
- DirectorEdo BertoglioStarsJean Michel BasquiatJohn LurieRichard WeigandAfter being released from the hospital, the artist Jean Michel Basquiat wanders around Manhattan trying to sell art to make money and find a place to stay.Good, strange indie film about city life.
- DirectorJohn G. AvildsenStarsSylvester StalloneTalia ShireBurt YoungReluctantly retired from fighting, Rocky takes charge of Mickey's gym and agrees to train a young protégé who's hungry for success.Underrated. Though strange for a Rocky film, it’s certainly good and much better than Rocky 4
- DirectorJoachim RønningEspen SandbergStarsJohnny DeppGeoffrey RushJavier BardemCaptain Jack Sparrow searches for the Trident of Poseidon to rule the sea while being pursued by old rival Captain Salazar and a crew of deadly ghosts who have escaped from the Devil's Triangle.Beautiful visuals and delightful performances. The rest is OK.
- DirectorBrian De PalmaStarsSissy SpacekPiper LaurieAmy IrvingCarrie White, a shy, friendless teenage girl who is sheltered by her domineering, religious mother, unleashes her telekinetic powers after being humiliated by her classmates at her senior prom.Overrated, stupid, pointless, terrible movie.

- DirectorClint EastwoodStarsClint EastwoodSondra LockePat HingleA hard but mediocre cop is assigned to escort a prostitute into custody from Las Vegas to Phoenix, so that she can testify in a mob trial. But a lot of people are literally betting that they won't make it into town alive.A cool, crazy Clint classic.
- DirectorSean S. CunninghamStarsBetsy PalmerAdrienne KingJeannine TaylorA group of teenage camp counselors attempt to re-open an abandoned summer camp with a tragic past, but they are stalked by a mysterious, relentless killer.Though many of the characters are bad, the editing is often poor and the ending was unnecessary, it is still very creepy and creates a great tone.
- DirectorNora TwomeyStarsLeighton MeesterIan McShaneJudy GreerElmer Elevator searches for a captive Dragon on Wild Island and finds much more than he could ever have anticipated.A funny film that is nowhere near as good as Tom Moore’s other works, but still has the same sense of wonder.
- DirectorAndy MuschiettiStarsBill SkarsgårdJaeden MartellFinn WolfhardIn the summer of 1989, a group of bullied kids band together to destroy a shape-shifting monster, which disguises itself as a clown and preys on the children of Derry, their small Maine town.A good teen horror movie with humor and horror visuals.
- DirectorPeter HyamsStarsMichael DouglasHal HolbrookYaphet KottoFrustrated with a legal system gone haywire, a secret society of judges hires hitmen to snuff out criminals who escape courtroom justice - but one young judge questions the ethics of their vigilante system.Though the film is fractured and very flawed, it’s still an interesting look at guilt.
- DirectorLeopold JessnerPaul LeniStarsHenny PortenFritz KortnerWilliam DieterleA crippled mailman is in love with a maid who lives in the same building he does in one of the city's poor neighborhoods. She, however, is in love with a wealthy, handsome young man. Desperate to win her love, he begins to intercept love letters they send to each other and replaces them with his own messages, which each thinks is from the other. His plan seems to be succeeding, but then something happens that bring tragic results to them all.Much of the film is just people walking around sadly, but the German expressionistic visuals and performances make it worth the 48 minutes.
- DirectorSergio CorbucciStarsMark DamonValeria FabriziFranco De RosaA Mexican bandit teams up with a band of renegade Native Americans to avenge his older brothers when they are killed by a prankster, gold-obsessed bounty hunter.Though not as gritty as many of Corbucci’s westerns, it’s still got good action sequences.
- DirectorJim GillespieStarsJennifer Love HewittSarah Michelle GellarAnne HecheFour young friends bound by a tragic accident are reunited when they find themselves being stalked by a hook-wielding maniac in their small seaside town. This could have been great. The idea of one fatal moment fracturing young teen’s lives is done well, and there are some great sequences of horror, but it’s really sloppy and many dumb things happen just so the story can progress. It’s frustrating that it could have been amazing, but it’s still fun, though nothing more.
- DirectorSteve MinerStarsBetsy PalmerAmy SteelJohn FureyFive years after the events of the first film, a summer camp next to the infamous Camp Crystal Lake is preparing to open, but the legend of Jason is weighing heavy on the proceedings.A good sequel with better characters, bloody kills and an underrated first Jason mask.
- DirectorSylvester StalloneStarsSylvester StalloneAntonio TarverMilo VentimigliaThirty years after the ring of the first bell, Rocky Balboa comes out of retirement and dons his gloves for his final fight against the reigning heavyweight champ Mason 'The Line' Dixon.A man as old as Rocky Balboa cannot fight in a realistic world, but this has all the character and drama of other Rocky movies combined with a sadder tone.
- DirectorRobert RodriguezStarsDanny TrejoAlexa PenaVegaMel GibsonThe U.S. government recruits Machete to battle his way through Mexico in order to take down an arms dealer who looks to launch a weapon into space. This film has ten times the camp and craziness of the original, and it just starts to feel monotonous and lose its charm early on. The thin plot that progresses in bizarre ways (mostly plot conveniences) doesn’t help, either.
- DirectorLambert HillyerStarsOtto KrugerGloria HoldenMarguerite ChurchillWhen Countess Marya Zaleska appears in London, mysterious events occur that lead Dr. Von Helsing to believe that the Countess must be a vampire. What starts as an interesting idea soon becomes a stale, talky affair that barely maintains any interest. A poor dark universe sequel.
- DirectorRobert StevensonStarsAlbert SharpeJanet MunroSean ConneryA wily old codger matches wits with the King of the Leprechauns and helps play matchmaker for his daughter and the strapping lad who has replaced him as caretaker.Surprisingly great; this ended up becoming one of my favorite holiday movies. It is funny, charming, and gets dark toward the end.
- DirectorSteven SpielbergStarsTom CruiseColin FarrellSamantha MortonJohn works with the PreCrime police which stop crimes before they take place, with the help of three 'PreCogs' who can foresee crimes. Events ensue when John finds himself framed for a future murder.Good sci-fi action film with memorable performances, twists and world-building.

- DirectorJoseph KosinskiStarsTom CruiseJennifer ConnellyMiles TellerAfter thirty years, Maverick is still pushing the envelope as a top naval aviator, but must confront ghosts of his past when he leads TOP GUN's elite graduates on a mission that demands the ultimate sacrifice from those chosen to fly it.Not as great as everyone says-it’s a cliched story-but still fun and full of great performances.
- DirectorMario BavaStarsClaudine AugerLuigi PistilliClaudio CamasoThe murder of a wealthy countess triggers a chain reaction of brutal killings in the surrounding bay area, as several unscrupulous characters try to seize her large estate.Though the kills are violent, the very confusing plot ruins everything.
- DirectorSteve MinerStarsDana KimmellTracie SavageRichard BrookerJason Voorhees stalks a group of friends who have just arrived to spend the weekend at a cabin near Crystal Lake.I could say this about most Friday the 13th sequels past 2: It’s a basic story, the characters are boring, but it’s also just fun.
- DirectorRyan CooglerStarsMichael B. JordanSylvester StalloneTessa ThompsonThe former World Heavyweight Champion Rocky Balboa serves as a trainer and mentor to Adonis Johnson, the son of his late friend and former rival Apollo Creed.Creed recreates the plot of Rocky and its sequels with different characters. The characters are the most important part of the film, and luckily, they are great.
- DirectorClint EastwoodStarsClint EastwoodGene HackmanMorgan FreemanRetired Old West gunslinger William Munny reluctantly takes on one last job, with the help of his old partner Ned Logan and a young man, The "Schofield Kid."An existential, violent, stylish and iconic western masterpiece.
- DirectorRick RosenthalStarsJamie Lee CurtisDonald PleasenceCharles CyphersWhile Dr. Loomis hunts for Michael Myers, a traumatized Laurie is rushed to Haddonfield Memorial Hospital, and The Shape is not far behind her.Very good sequel with the exact same tone and quality as the original.
- DirectorRoger CormanStarsDick MillerBarboura MorrisAntony CarboneA dimwitted busboy at a beatnik cafe passes off a cat he accidentally killed and covered in plaster as a sculpture, prompting a demand for more art that compels him to commit murders.Basically the exact same thing as little shop of horrors in every aspect. You don’t need to see both. But, if you want to, while this isn’t as good, it’s still pretty funny.
- DirectorMorten TyldumStarsBenedict CumberbatchKeira KnightleyMatthew GoodeDuring World War II, the English mathematical genius Alan Turing tries to crack the German Enigma code with help from fellow mathematicians while attempting to come to terms with his troubled private life.A Tragic but gripping true story.
- DirectorKeenen Ivory WayansStarsAnna FarisJon AbrahamsMarlon WayansA year after disposing of the body of a man they accidentally killed, a group of dumb teenagers are stalked by a bumbling serial killer.Though the nonexistent plot is full of holes, the movie is a successful spoof. A good satire of scary movies and just a very funny film in general.
- DirectorGordon Parks Jr.StarsMax JulienVonetta McGeeGeorge MurdockThe exploits of 1910s bounty hunter Thomasine and bandit Bushrod who, after rekindling their old romance, take to robbing banks to survive, stealing from rich whites and sharing their loot with the poor on the harsh frontier.Better than you’d think. A good blaxploitation western that has great characters and story.
- DirectorJohn HyamsStarsGideon AdlonBethlehem MillionDylan SprayberryDue to the pandemic, Parker and her best friend decide to quarantine at the family lake house alone - or so they think. An intense and great home invasion horror film.
- DirectorAmy Holden JonesStarsMichele MichaelsRobin StilleMichael VillellaA female high school student's slumber party turns into a bloodbath, as a newly escaped psychotic serial killer wielding a power drill prowls her neighborhood.A great, clever slasher classic which was surprisingly written and directed by women.
- DirectorMartin ScorseseStarsLeonardo DiCaprioCate BlanchettKate BeckinsaleA biopic depicting the early years of legendary director and aviator Howard Hughes' career from the late 1920s to the mid 1940s.A very good Scorsese/DiCaprio outing with an amazing soundtrack.

- DirectorFrancis Ford CoppolaStarsC. Thomas HowellMatt DillonRalph MacchioIn a small Oklahoma town in 1964, the rivalry between two gangs, the poor Greasers and the rich Socs, heats up when one gang member accidentally kills a member of the other. It’s characters are a bit underwhelming. It doesn’t work as a movie very well.
- DirectorRobert ZemeckisStarsTom HanksRobin WrightGary SiniseThe history of the United States from the 1950s to the '70s unfolds from the perspective of an Alabama man with an IQ of 75, who yearns to be reunited with his childhood sweetheart. An emotional masterpiece that will make you laugh, cry and smile.
- DirectorJamie PayneStarsIdris ElbaCynthia ErivoAndy SerkisBrilliant but disgraced detective John Luther breaks out of prison to hunt down a sadistic serial killer who is terrorising London.Gritty thriller that has the style, cinematography, action and performances to excel it beyond its tropes.
