My kind of comedy
Like it says in the title! No real order, just added as I remember them. A comedy should be focused on one important thing: BEING FUNNY AT ANY COST. Nothing else matters, not drama, not story, it doesn't even matter if it makes sense. Am I laughing? Yes or no? Is there anything else about it that's getting in the way of my laughing? If it's funny, that's enough, but if it successfully does anything else, like reveals the meaning of life, that's just a nice bonus. Some people might find it funny when something terrible or shocking is said or when something disgusting is shown, but not me.
You may notice a lot of more recent popular comedy movies are missing here. I've seen many, many comedies released in the past few decades, including the most popular ones, but they honestly rarely make me laugh. Maybe I've just been too spoiled by the comedy brilliance of older stuff (it's hard to top Buster Keaton, Chaplin, Harold Lloyd, Cary Grant, Bugs Bunny, Tex Avery, etc). Seriously, the further back in time you go the more likely you are to find the funniest stuff. In recent decades, it's been TV shows, cartoons, and foreign films that are more funny, and they're obviously inspired by the comedy of old classics.

- CreatorRowan AtkinsonRichard CurtisStarsRowan AtkinsonMatilda ZieglerRobin DriscollBumbling, childlike Mr. Bean has trouble completing the simplest of day-to-day tasks, but his perseverance and resourcefulness frequently allow him to find ingenious ways around problems.I might dare to call this the greatest comedy series of all time.
- CreatorBob BoyleStarsRowan AtkinsonSally GraceJon GloverA clueless yet clever loner bungles his way through life in London. As Mr. Bean humor its nowhere near as good, but as its own cartoon series its great and still pretty funny. Great for kids, but it's just as fine for them to watch the live action.

- DirectorMehul KumarStarsAmitabh BachchanNana PatekarTabuMajor Ajit is sent to nab ex-Army officer Colonel Sodhi, who is hiding in the guise of Devraj Hathoda. The comedy style in this is so good, so hilarious, so unique, especially for an Indian film. Instantly made me a Nana Patekar far even as a kid. I was already an Amitabh Bachan fan from Sooryavansham.

When he is caught peeping, Kiyoshi is sent to the schools prison, where his punishment is carried out.The manga was already insanely hilarious, and the anime adapted it all perfectly.
- StarsTaishi NakagawaHirona YamazakiAoi MorikawaThe student council places 5 male students in a prison on charges of peeping on the girls in the showers, and they struggle to escape. It's amazing how well this translated to live action... the casting is perfection and each actor is hilarious, even (and especially) Asana Mamoru... a gravure model!
- StarsTakahiro SakuraiBen PronskyTakuma SuzukiA satire comedy of a misfit high school with punks, robots, gorillas and much more.I had never seen a comedy like this before and I don't think I've seen any since. It's so insane. It's not trying to do anything but be funny, at any cost... no real story, no sense, nothing but pure comedy.

MIMIMIMIMIIMIMI. I can't tell you how much pure joy beaker gives me just by looking at his silly long face. I tried to make a Beaker of my own using a towel paper carboard tube but it didn't work out.
- CreatorJamie ShannonStarsAli EisnerJamie ShannonJason HopleyA small girl has adventures in her grandmother's back yard. This a Canadian show is about a girl not even old enough to go to school, made for toddlers, and I first watched it in 1999 when I was 11.... I couldn't stop laughing. I couldn't wait to tell my friend at school about it and he had been watching the show too and thought it was hilarious. We imitated the show all the time. I remember once my friend made me almost die laughing when he told me he saw an episode where Grandma called Mona to eat, or something, and Mona just turned around slowly and said in a deep, normal voice "YES? WHAT DO YOU WANT WITH ME?" hahahaha, that still make me laugh just thinking about it... I kept looking for that moment in the show but never found it, I'm sure he made it up.
- CreatorJohn KricfalusiBob CampJim GomezStarsJohn KricfalusiBilly WestHarris PeetRen, a psychotic Chihuahua, and Stimpson J. Cat, a dimwitted Manx cat who goes by the nickname Stimpy, have a host of unusual adventures.I DONT LIKE GROSS OUT HUMOR! And yet the rest of this show is so hilarious to me that I'm willing to ignore all the stuff I don't like. But there's no denying that this is the first modern cartoon to rightfully take heavy inspiration from Tex Avery and Bob Clampett but also created its own style that was essential to the existence of future cartoon megahits like Spongebob or almost any cartoon on Cartoon Network.
- CreatorJohn KricfalusiStarsJohn KricfalusiEric BauzaMike KricfalusiThe Chihuahua and Cat duo return for more adventures, but this time they are more adult-oriented.Yes there's even more gross out humour than the original series, but it's still pretty hilarious and well animated! The only reason it gets a bad rep is because of the "adult content" and on top of that, in a show people saw as "made for kids". It's the same style and kind of humour as the original show, just dialed up to 11 in grossout and with more "adult" humour.

And it even predated Tex Avery's most insane shorts, while being equally, if not more insane.
- DirectorTex AveryStarsElvia AllmanSara BernerDaws ButlerThe characters of the traditional fairy tale demand a new approach to the story as a sexy urban comedy with Red as a nightclub singer.CLASSIC. The animation and humor in this is timeless and it's so obvious that 90% of the best comedy cartoons in the past 30 years, since Ren & Stimpy, have been influenced by this and other Tex shorts.
- DirectorTex AveryStarsSara BernerBilly BletcherPinto ColvigBored with chasing Red Riding Hood, the Wolf decides to go after Cinderella, but her fairy godmother takes a shine to him instead - and has an arsenal of magical powers to help achieve her ends.
- DirectorTex AveryMichael LahStarsBill ThompsonTex AveryDaws ButlerA jailhouse, a tempting safe, and a sleeping sheriff. Can the two villains make off with the loot without waking him up? Not if deputy Droopy, who is on patrol guarding the safe, has his way. Much of this cartoon is a remake of Rock-a-Bye Bear (1952).Droopy may just be my favourite cartoon character ever, along with Felix. I first got acquainted with him in Tom & Jerry Kids, which is a great show, but nothing compares to the original by Tex. It was amazing when I found out how far back his history went when I thought he was just a creation of the 90s.
