- DirectorRoger CormanStarsPamela DuncanRichard GarlandAllison HayesA beautiful woman is sent back in time via hypnosis to the Middle Ages where she finds she is suspected of being a witch, and subject to being executed.1 October: That was unexpectedly really cool and creative even though with Roger Corman I am kinda always ready to be impressed how he somehow makes a great movie in a few days on a fraction of a traditional budget. Also, really ahead of its time in terms of plot, with two moments in the movie being a particularly creative spin on time travel, one of which very likely inspired a key moment in The Terminator (1984).
- DirectorMykola YeriominStarsYaroslav KozakMikhail BondarevArtur NaumenkoA Halloween Special in which pretty much everyone is asleep.1 October: Finally added my own Halloween Special from year ago to IMDb, which required a rewatch. It holds up better than expected, but man is it showing that it was made in haste, just look at the goofs section.
- StarsJosh DavisJay BaumanBoooooo-urns. It's October, which means it's time for creepy movies. Like Creepshow. Directed by George A Romero and written by Stephen King.2 October: A nice reminder of the movie I really want to see. Also RLM is early with Halloween festivities this year, but it's very welcome.
- DirectorOliver HarperStarsOliver HarperRobert HarmonRoger EbertOliver Harper reviews The Hitcher (1986) and dissects the behind-the-scenes.2 October: Another nice reminder, this time about one of my all-time favorite, The Hitcher (1986). Oddly, it never occurred to me that it is a feature directorial debut of Robert Harmon, so I might rewatch it from that perspective.
- DirectorScott ShawStarsScott ShawKenneth H. KimRoger EllisAlexander Hell (Scott Shaw) is a cross-dimensional mercenary. He rides his Harley out of the dark abyss to send ancient vampires back to Hell.3 October: It could've been much better if shot on film rather than video (although it somehow managed to get theatrical screenings anyway. Good for it!). Definitely a shoddy production, but it has a charm only movies made on pure enthusiasm have.
- DirectorFritz KierschStarsPeter HortonLinda HamiltonR.G. ArmstrongA young couple is trapped in a remote town where a dangerous religious cult of children believes that everyone over age 18 must be killed.3 October: Was always wondering how that short story by Stephen King spawned a movie, lest a whole, long-running franchise. It's a well-made movie (especially for a directorial debut), but not a comfortable watch in my case.
- StarsDaniel DikerElesheva Eshet ElielChaya GolinkinA singing, dancing and rapping extravaganza erupts when Scott and his sister Abby tour the haunted house on Halloween night.4-5 October: That was weird. Firstly in general and secondly because where on Earth was this made? IMDb so far suggests US, copyright notice says London while most of the crew is Israeli!
- StarsMike StoklasaJay BaumanMike and Jay sit down for a frank and honest discussion about Dahmer, the new Netflix ten hour long series thing that stars Evan's Peter as the notorious cannibal serial killah.8 October: re:View (2016), again. Guys bring the cool stuff up, what can I say. Had no idea Gregg Araki is one of the directors on this series and now I do. Also the Milwaukee perspective is fascinating. Also Kurt Cobain connections are fascinating.
- 2017– 34m6.3 (25)TV EpisodeStarsZoran GvojicJames A. JanisseTomm JacobsenThe kills in the movie Dude Bro Party Massacre III (2015) are broken down and analyzed.8 October: I totally forgot to see that, so a good reminder. Also probably the most cameos this web-series ever had in a single episode.
- StarsNine Inch NailsMarilyn MansonThe CureWatchMojo.com counts down Top 10 scariest music videos.8 October: Wanted to watch something quick before sleep, so of course I ended up watching a webisode I've seen already and spending at least two hours compiling the updates for IMDb. Anyhow, at least this gave me a few seasonal music videos to watch, some of which are still absent from IMDb, so there's that.
- DirectorHerschel DaughertyStarsElizabeth MontgomeryEileen HeckartSue Ane LangdonA wealthy woman is trapped during a storm in a house with no electricity or phone. A killer has murdered her sister, stuffed the body in the basement, and is now after her.8 October: I really love finding hidden gems like this proto-slasher, which was just a blind guess. Definitely has a lot of trappings of the genre which became a sensation just two years after that. Herschel Daugherty's direction would suggest a young director trying to impress the audience and producers alike enough to get more features... But he was a 62-years old man when directing that, which makes all the freshness of that all the more surprising.
- 9 October: Just an oddball commercial I got on YouTube for probably listening to one too many podcasts and videos on awful action movies. This could've been a nice prop for either that or a horror movie.
- 2013– 36m7.9 (67)TV EpisodeDirectorJay BaumanMike StoklasaStarsJay BaumanRich EvansJessi NaklesThis week on Best of the Worst, the gang tackles misguided children's films. Or what they THOUGHT were children's films anyway.9 October: Not a Halloween Special, but there are Halloween decorations in the background and these guys are always eligible.
- StarsNick BakayRichard Steven HorvitzBrian Doyle-MurrayDag takes Norb's admonition to grow up to the extreme. Acting like his goofy version of a grownup, he drives Norb to distraction and makes him see growing up ain't all it's cracked up to be.10 October: Wanted to rewatch this for a week or two. When it comes to Halloween eligibility, first segment has The Twilight Zone (1959) allusions, while the second one has carnival with freak show and there are scarce things more Halloween-y than carnivals.
- DirectorJack BondStarsDaniela Colic-PrizmicChris LoweIan McKellenMusic video for "Heart" performed by Pet Shop Boys.10 October: I mean, Ian McKellen as a vampire!
- DirectorKurt and BartStarsSagatSagat complains about annoying things in his life in a charting rap/dance hit music video.10 October: Not exactly a horror music video, but just weird enough for Halloween Marathon. Why the eye-patch? Why the confusing editing? Why New York's sleazy streets with grindhouses and sex shops?.. Wait, actually, later is a cool setting. I am actually not surprised American Horror Story (2011) decided to tackle this exact NYC setting.
- DirectorTom SchlagkampStarsKreatorSofia PortanetMille PetrozzaKreator performs with Sofia Portanet in the music video "Midnight Sun" from the album "Hate Über Alles" from Nuclear Blast records. The music video opens with a woman narrowly avoiding a dropped chainsaw. She runs from a cult while a dark mask figure pursues her.10 October: Heavy on horror with references to The Wicker Man (1973) and neat (if inexplicable) chainsaw scenes.
- DirectorAntti J. JokinenStarsJens JohanssonJari KainulainenTimo KotipeltoThe music video for the song "Maniac Dance" by the Finnish power metal band Stratovarius from the band's 2005 self-titled album.10 October: This one is not as heavy for horror, but the editing is almost seizure-inducing.
- DirectorMichael SlovisStarsBryan CranstonAnna GunnAaron PaulSkyler hatches a plan as Hank's hospital bills stack up. Meanwhile, Walt and Gus come to a better understanding as Jesse, looking for more independence, pursues a new opportunity.10 October: Breaking Bad (2008) don't have any outright Halloween Specials, but episode that references Franz Kafka just fits.
- DirectorMantas KvedaraviciusStarsMaryna ArkhipovaOleksandr BuliOleksandr DzhenchakoA man repairs his shing net and goes out to the bridge. Two trams run into each other - nobody is hurt and cables are xed the same day. A small concert is given for factory workers and the sincere performance of a violinist makes them cry. Bombs fall into the sea, no one notices.10 October: Okay, this documentary is probably the least fitting thing out of this day and this marathon in general, but we decided to see it with a friend because Mariupol is frequently on our mind. Plus it's important to support Ukrainian movies and distribution right now. Very meditative.
- DirectorBrad JonesStarsBrad JonesThe Cinema Snob gets in the Halloween spirit by reviewing the most meta, tone-deaf sequel in the entire Halloween canon. If you never saw the original, don't worry, this one has flashbacks and exposition on it up the wazoo.11 October: I can totally agree with Halloween Kills (2022) on some points there and I share his enthusiasm for Halloween Kills (2021), although I am even more positive, I would say.
- 2007–202318m7.7 (20)TV EpisodeDirectorJames RolfeStarsJames Rolfe12 October: Terrific analysis of an often overlooked trope by James Rolfe.
- DirectorNicolas PesceStarsMical KlipJordan Lane PriceTei ShiOfficial music video for "Bassically" by Tei Shi.12 October: A fine neo-grindhouse genre homage.
- DirectorBoris BlankStarsYelloBoris BlankDieter MeierMusic video by Yello, in which the band explores communication and music on the backdrop of futuristic and surreal cityscape.12 October: Not really a horror music video or anything, but fits just by virtue of wackiness.
- StarsKing's XJerry GaskillDoug PinnickKing's X performs in the music video "It's Love" from the album "Faith Hope Love" recorded for Megaforce Records. The music video opens with shots of a the band flying in a prop plane while a may sits in an out of control barber shop chair. Ty Tabor sings while the band plays.12 October: What the heck is this music video? The ending, especially?..
- DirectorDee WhiteStarsAlyona AlyonaA creative lyric video for a song by alyona alyona (Alyona Alyona).12 October: Just a lyric video.
- DirectorDavid Gordon GreenStarsJamie Lee CurtisJudy GreerAndi MatichakSurviving victims of Michael Myers form a vigilante mob and vow to end his reign of terror.12 October: A very pleasant rewatch.
- CreatorMykola YeriominStarsYaroslav KozakMikhail BondarevArtur NaumenkoA web-series showcasing the weirdest, the funnies and the most interesting things that Internet has to offer.12 October: [Placeholder for a specific episode]
- 2016– 42m7.8 (27)TV EpisodeStarsJay BaumanRich EvansDespite having very different tastes, Jay and Rich both love John Carpenter movies. Just maybe not the same John Carpenter movies. So, they decided to sit down and do a ranking of every single one of them. Watch and see for yourself how this disaster ensues.13 October: re:View (2016).
- StarsJosh DavisJay BaumanJay and Josh are back to discuss Creepshow 2. Watch as they give a middling review to a middling movie that some people inexplicably like even more than the classic first Creepshow.15 October: re:View (2016).
- DirectorBrad JonesStarsBrad JonesBrad Jones reviews Halloween Ends (2022).16 October: Brad Jones is vocally positive about the movie and he's one of the critics I trust in regard of similar taste.
- DirectorBrian De PalmaStarsJohn LithgowLolita DavidovichSteven BauerThe oncologist wife of a prominent child psychologist suspects her husband has an unhealthy scientific obsession with their child, unaware of what - or who - is really going on inside his head.16-17 October: Beautifully confusing.
- DirectorDavid LynchOne of a set of commercials for the Parisienne cigarette brand made by leading film directors.18 October: An always pleasant rewatch. Also beautifully confusing.
- DirectorDavid LynchStarsJason S.David LynchA waiting room, a talking duck-man, a severed arm, a mysterious woman, a young man in a black suit and his doppelganger thumbs-upping each other. Smoke - FIRE.18 October: Another unmistakably David Lynch commercial.
- DirectorDavid LynchStarsGérard DepardieuGérard Depardieu cooks a delicious pasta as an emergency effort to comfort a little girl after a bicycle accident in this commercial directed by David Lynch.18 October: This one is subtle, but still very much a David Lynch.
- DirectorMark HoffmanStarsRoger FedererDavide OldaniDavide Oldani teaches Roger Federer to make pasta.18 October: Compared to a previous one: professionally made, but much more bland.
- DirectorGary FreedmanStarsRoger FedererMikaela ShiffrinDavide OldaniRoger Federer becomes the life of a high society party by cooking a pasta dish.18 October: Similar to the previous one.
- DirectorMykola YeriominStarsMykola YeriominMr. WinterVitaly SiletskyiWinter takes the physical form in an abstract music video.18 October: Was watching a few of my old music videos with a friend and collaborator, who is in the cast of this one.
