- DirectorFrank DarabontStarsTom HanksMichael Clarke DuncanDavid MorseA tale set on death row, where gentle giant John Coffey possesses the mysterious power to heal people's ailments. When the lead guard, Paul Edgecombe, recognizes John's gift, he tries to help stave off the condemned man's execution.I already knew the ending for this film for many years, but when I finally watched the Green Mile I still found myself in tears.
- DirectorSam MendesStarsTom HanksTyler HoechlinPaul NewmanA mob enforcer's son in 1930s Illinois witnesses a murder, forcing him and his father to take to the road, and his father down a path of redemption and revenge. After first viewing this film, I didn't become emotional until the next day after watching. Thinking back on the film, I was in tears primarily due to how well the storyline concluded and what came of Tom Hanks' son by the end. It's a story that made me learn that moving on is for the best.
- DirectorDavid FrankelStarsOwen WilsonJennifer AnistonEric DaneA family learns important life lessons from their adorable, but naughty and neurotic dog.Although I found this film to be average at best, I have to say that I found the ending to be nothing short of heartbreaking - especially due to the fact that I love dogs.
- DirectorSteven SpielbergStarsTom HanksMatt DamonTom SizemoreFollowing the Normandy Landings, a group of U.S. soldiers go behind enemy lines to retrieve a paratrooper whose brothers have been killed in action.Due to my family's experience with the military, I have nothing but respect and admiration for those who have served in the military. The ending for Saving Private Ryan really struck a chord with me, especially with the elderly Ryan asking his wife if he lived a good life.
I have to say it's the only Stephen Spielberg film (by far) to make me cry, and for that I have to congratulate him for that. - DirectorRobert ZemeckisStarsTom HanksRobin WrightGary SiniseThe history of the United States from the 1950s to the '70s unfolds from the perspective of an Alabama man with an IQ of 75, who yearns to be reunited with his childhood sweetheart.Tom Hanks is quite prominent on this list, but I have to say that his appearances here show how great of an actor he is. I was in tears by the end of Forrest Gump mostly due to the fact that the film tells us that you can be anything you want to be, regardless of who you are and where you came from. And it's a message that really brought me to life again.
- DirectorHayao MiyazakiStarsChieko BaishôTakuya KimuraTatsuya GashûinWhen an unconfident young woman is cursed with an old body by a spiteful witch, her only chance of breaking the spell lies with a self-indulgent yet insecure young wizard and his companions in his legged, walking castle. This is another case in which a film ended in such a positive way that I burst into tears soon after watching. I found the whole story of Howl's Moving Castle to be moving (no pun intended) & enchanting and by the final scene, I felt that the main characters were truly free.
