IMDbPro caught up with Tamela D'Amico to get her best advice for aspiring actors, hear why One Little Finger is more than a film, and more! 5 of 6
IMDbPro: What has playing Raina in One Little Finger taught you as an actor?
Tamela D'Amico: We all know the expression, “Never judge a book by its cover.” The same applies to actors. I worked with over 80 people with disabilities on this film. I was in awe of their natural talents and commitment to the preparation of this work. You can’t judge someone by what you think they cannot do. You need to celebrate them for what they can do. This film is about the “ability in disability,” and it is important to use People First Language (PFL). It is a way of communicating that reflects knowledge and respect for people with disabilities by choosing words that recognize the person first as the primary reference and not an disability.
