- DirectorSidney LumetStarsFaye DunawayWilliam HoldenPeter FinchA television network cynically exploits a deranged former anchor's ravings and revelations about the news media for its own profit, but finds that his message may be difficult to control.Saif: a golden classic. This movie captures perfectly everything that is wrong with media and presents it in a subtle satirical fashion.
- DirectorSpike JonzeStarsJohn CusackCameron DiazCatherine KeenerA puppeteer discovers a portal that leads literally into the head of movie star John Malkovich.Saif: interesting Sci-fi movie that is funny and engaging. It also has some psychological depth to it without making the story too confusing.
- DirectorBong Joon HoStarsSong Kang-hoLee Sun-kyunCho Yeo-jeongGreed and class discrimination threaten the newly-formed symbiotic relationship between the wealthy Park family and the destitute Kim clan.Saif: this is probably the newest movie on this list. This is another korean movie, this one is also a thriller that is quite captivating. Bong's masterpiece.
- DirectorDarren AronofskyStarsSean GulletteMark MargolisBen ShenkmanA paranoid mathematician searches for a key number that will unlock the universal patterns found in nature.Saif: abstract black and white movie, that is minimal yet very strong in its delivery. Aronofsky made this with a small budget, yet it looks quite good on screen. Highly recommend.
- DirectorBrad AndersonStarsChristian BaleJennifer Jason LeighAitana Sánchez-GijónAn industrial worker who hasn't slept in a year begins to doubt his own sanity.Saif: interesting mind-fuck kind of movie. Worth watching just to see Christian Bale's dedication to his role.
- DirectorJames MangoldStarsWinona RyderAngelina JolieClea DuVallA directionless teenager, Susanna, is rushed to Claymoore, a mental institution, after a supposed suicide attempt. There, she befriends a group of troubled women who deeply influence her life.Saif: the only movie with Angelina Jolie that is worth watching.
- DirectorMichel HazanaviciusStarsJean DujardinBérénice BejoJohn GoodmanWhen George, a silent movie superstar, meets Peppy Miller, a dancer, sparks fly between the two. However, after the introduction of talking pictures, their fortunes change, affecting their dynamic.Saif: a beautiful movie that is silent and in black and white. But its certainly very entertaining, despite these limits.
- DirectorWolfgang BeckerStarsDaniel BrühlKatrin SassChulpan KhamatovaIn 1990, to protect his fragile mother from a fatal shock after a long coma, a young man must keep her from learning that her beloved nation of East Germany as she knew it has disappeared.Saif: a funny movie about the transition from socialist berlin to capitalist berlin, that is subtle and personal.
- DirectorDavid LynchStarsIsabella RosselliniKyle MacLachlanDennis HopperThe discovery of a severed human ear found in a field leads a young man on an investigation related to a beautiful, mysterious nightclub singer and a group of psychopathic criminals who have kidnapped her child.Saif: this movie is by David Lynch. So beware before watching that this is a Freudian nightmare that is certainly one of the weirdest things I have ever seen.
- DirectorSofia CoppolaStarsBill MurrayScarlett JohanssonGiovanni RibisiA faded movie star and a neglected young woman form an unlikely bond after crossing paths in Tokyo.Saif: arguably the best performance that ever came out of Scarlett Johansson. Bill Murray also plays a good role. This is the best movie that I have seen that is directed by a woman.
- DirectorDan GilroyStarsJake GyllenhaalRene RussoBill PaxtonWhen Louis Bloom, a con man desperate for work, muscles into the world of L.A. crime journalism, he blurs the line between observer and participant to become the star of his own story.Saif: a slow-burn movie that is modern and strange but certainly recommend watching. Very good performance from Jake Gyllenhaal.
- DirectorAdam ElliotStarsToni CollettePhilip Seymour HoffmanEric BanaIn 1976 Melbourne, a lonely 8-year-old girl strikes up a correspondence with an unlikely pen pal: a severely obese 44-year-old New Yorker with Asperger's syndrome.Saif: Dark witty animation that has interesting relationship dynamics and different (weird) characters. It certainly has a lot to say about mental illness and individualism, but its satirical narration keeps it moving and amusing.
- DirectorDavid LynchStarsNaomi WattsLaura HarringJustin TherouxAfter a car wreck on Mulholland Drive renders a woman amnesiac, she and a Hollywood-hopeful search for clues and answers across Los Angeles in a twisting venture beyond dreams and reality.Saif: Another one of Lynch's surreal psychological thrillers, Mulholland Drive is certainly an interesting watch. It captures the passion and emotion of Hollywood through the eyes of an excited protagonist. Meanwhile it deconstructs the mystery genre, through constant time and narrative abstraction. It can feel a bit too artsy, and a bit too serious if your not in that mood.
- DirectorPaul Thomas AndersonStarsJoaquin PhoenixPhilip Seymour HoffmanAmy AdamsA Naval veteran arrives home from war unsettled and uncertain of his future - until he is tantalized by the Cause and its charismatic leader.Saif: Great cast and superb acting, The Master also has brilliant images and the scenes are clean and colorful. Its certainly one of PTA's more abstract and challenging films.
- 19641h 35mPG8.3 (520K)97MetascoreDirectorStanley KubrickStarsPeter SellersGeorge C. ScottSterling HaydenAn unhinged American general orders a bombing attack on the Soviet Union, triggering a path to nuclear holocaust that a war room full of politicians and generals frantically tries to stop.Saif: Historical, dark, satirical and my favorite Stanley Kubrick movie. This work challenges the political ideals of authority and military in a witty confrontational manner.
