- DirectorMenahem GolanStarsCatherine Mary StewartGeorge GilmourGrace KennedyIn 1994, a young couple enters the world of the music industry, and subsequently the world of drugs. So bad it's GREAT! A 90 minute descent into madness. There's simply no way to describe the plot of this movie in a way that makes sense or would give you any reason to watch it, so I won't try. It's a work of staggering genius.
- DirectorNick CassavetesStarsGena RowlandsJames GarnerRachel McAdamsAn elderly man reads to a woman with dementia the story of two young lovers whose romance is threatened by the difference in their respective social classes.Possibly the most entertaining of all bad movies. What really puts it over the top is the way Rachel McAdams and Ryan Gosling are giving a *hundred and ten percent* to the worst dialogue you've ever heard in your life. Ryan Gosling did method acting for this movie! They even brought in Gena Rowlands, a serious star, to play a character who appears in about 15 minutes of the movie.
You'll be quoting this one for the next decade. Never forget the CGI swans.
"Say it! Say I'm a bird!" - DirectorMartin BrestStarsBen AffleckJennifer LopezJustin BarthaLarry Gigli is assigned by a crime boss to kidnap the brother of a prominent district attorney. A beautiful woman known only as Ricki is sent to stay with him to make sure he doesn't mess up the job.Come for the failed rom-com crime movie hybrid, stay for Affleck and JLo's hysterical attempt to debate the relative merits of their genitalia.
- DirectorHarold CronkStarsShane HarperKevin SorboDavid A.R. WhiteCollege philosophy professor Mr. Radisson's curriculum is challenged by his new student, Josh, who believes God exists. An unconventional pick, but this one has some great culture shock hilarity. It's made for a rather insular community and fails rather badly to understand what life outside that community is like.
- DirectorScott HicksStarsZac EfronTaylor SchillingBlythe DannerA Marine travels to Louisiana after serving three tours in Iraq and searches for the unknown woman he believes was his good luck charm during the war.Zac Efron is hilarious in this role. I note that IMDb places this film in the horror genre. Horror at how bad it is, maybe!
- DirectorGeorge Tillman Jr.StarsScott EastwoodBritt RobertsonAlan AldaSophia and Luke make an unexpected and fateful connection with Ira, a 90-years old man, when they save him from a car crash. Ira's memories of his own decades-long romance with his beloved wife deeply inspire the young couple. This one pulls you in with its unintentional double entendre of a title, and the contents don't disappoint. Contains one of the most awkward sex scenes I've ever seen.
- DirectorJulie Anne RobinsonStarsMiley CyrusLiam HemsworthGreg KinnearA rebellious girl is sent to a Southern beach town for the summer to stay with her father. Through their mutual love of music, the estranged duo learn to reconnect. If you've ever wanted to see Miley Cyrus mutter about sea turtles to a guy who's trying to impress her by reading Tolstoy on the beach, this is the movie for you. Painfully bad.
- DirectorJohn FasanoStarsCindy CirileJesse D'AngeloChris FinkelAt a farmhouse in the middle of nowhere, a hopeful hair-metal band seeking inspiration to record their upcoming new LP will soon find themselves in a furious confrontation against the Prince of Darkness himself.Musical horror movie with surprisingly good music and fun creature effects, but not very well made or well paced. The ending is insane though, so stick it out until then.
- DirectorJeremy CulverStarsGeorge BlagdenCharleene ClossheyRobbie KayStraight out of jail, a hacker steals letters hoping to find cash. He reads one of the letters, falls in love with the writer and decides to change his ways to be worthy of her. This one falls into the uncomfortably creepy bracket, so it's a great choice if that's what you're looking for. It's about a guy who connects to a girl by snooping through her mail. He's also a "hacker", and the screenwriter for this movie was exactly as computer literate as you'd expect. Hilarity ensues.
- DirectorRichard CurtisStarsDomhnall GleesonRachel McAdamsBill NighyAt the age of 21, Tim discovers he can travel in time and change what happens and has happened in his own life. His decision to make his world a better place by getting a girlfriend turns out not to be as easy as you might think.Who *doesn't* want to see Domhnall Gleeson travel back in time repeatedly to perfect his sexual technique to the point where he can win the girl in a single night? Absurd and ridiculous, the high budget really pays off for this movie. You might argue this film ripped off Click, but it's done better than that movie and its (many) failings are unintentionally hilarious.
- DirectorGary WinickStarsAmanda SeyfriedGael García BernalVanessa RedgraveSophie travels to Verona where she finds an old unanswered letter asking for love advice. She answers it and when the recipient shows up along with her grumpy grandson, they head off to find the old long lost love while a young love sparksPoorly acted threadbare storylines? A cringe-inducing Shakespeare reenactment gag? Complete absence of screen chemistry? Sign me up!
- DirectorLuigi CozziStarsLou FerrignoBrad HarrisSybil DanningThe story of the Greek mythological figure, updated in this '80s version. One of the best case outcomes of very low budget attempt to make an old-school action adventure. A Cannon classic. Also worth checking out the Mystery Science Theater 3000 episode.
- DirectorJoe D'AmatoStarsMiles O'KeeffeSabrina SianiRitza BrownThe son of Torren learns of his heritage, goes to avenge the deaths of his fellow villagers, and rescue his sister from the evil Dakkar and his spider cult. Some movies you watch make you wonder what was up with the writer. The unexpected nature of the romance in Ator will have you asking exactly that question. Weird, fun, low-budget, the combination really pays off in this case.
- DirectorAdam ShankmanStarsMandy MooreShane WestPeter CoyoteTwo North Carolina teens, Landon Carter and Jamie Sullivan, are thrown together after Landon gets into trouble and is sentenced to perform community service.I'll never forget how hard I laughed at the comet as long as I live. This movie is what made the illness exploitation genre a thing, and it does it better than anything that came later. We have our tough kid from the wrong side of the tracks, we have our longsuffering angel, and the whole thing erupts in outrageous bathos. Not to be missed.
- DirectorDan FogelmanStarsOscar IsaacOlivia WildeAnnette BeningAs a young New York City couple goes from college romance to marriage and the birth of their first child, the unexpected twists of their journey create reverberations that echo over continents and through lifetimes.Life Itself is a great example of a movie that thinks it's way more intelligent than it is.
- DirectorWoo-sang ParkY.K. KimStarsY.K. KimVincent HirschJoseph DiamandA martial arts rock band goes up against a band of motorcycle ninjas who have tightened their grip on Florida's narcotics trade.Over the top insanity, pure fun, and some pretty decent martial arts!
- DirectorRichard CurtisStarsHugh GrantMartine McCutcheonLiam NeesonFollows the lives of eight very different couples in dealing with their love lives in various loosely interrelated tales all set during a frantic month before Christmas in London, England. One of the things that's weird about Love Actually is that sometimes you think it might be self-aware. Stuff like Bill Nighy's "Christmas is All Around" is clearly supposed to be funny, but all the humor never really serves the romances (which don't work) at all, so you're never sure.
Possibly a dismal failure of a rom-com, possibly a brilliant work of meta-comedy. Maybe both? - DirectorGeorge C. WolfeStarsDiane LaneRichard GereChristopher MeloniA doctor, who is travelling to see his estranged son, sparks with an unhappily married woman at a North Carolina inn.If you were trying to make a bad movie, this one would be the remake of The Notebook. Same approach: big star power, a will-they-won't-they storyline, an attempt at incorporating tragedy. This one doesn't quite hold up to the "original", but it's entertaining nonetheless. I'd say one of the problems (if you were trying to make a bad movie) is that the actors are good enough to make some of the lines actually work.
- DirectorLana WachowskiLilly WachowskiStarsChanning TatumMila KunisEddie RedmayneA young woman discovers her destiny as an heiress of intergalactic nobility and must fight to protect the inhabitants of Earth from an ancient and destructive industry. The obvious draw for this one is Eddie Redmayne hamming it up, but stick around to learn about the true importance of bees and Channing Tatum's inability to pull off his role convincingly.
- DirectorLasse HallströmStarsJulianne HoughJosh DuhamelCobie SmuldersA young woman with a mysterious past lands in Southport, North Carolina where her bond with a widower forces her to confront the dark secret that haunts her.Just when you think Sparks can't top himself in the writing department, you find this gem about a woman who (spoilers!) *comes back from the dead* to hook up her husband with a new girl.
