Each year, European Film Promotion (EFP), a network of promotion and marketing organisations from 35 European countries, presents the most talented young actors from throughout Europe to the press, public and industry during the Berlin International Film Festival. Actors with established national careers are suddenly on the international stage at the prestigious Berlin International Film Festival. Among the actors recognized with the SHOOTING STARS AWARD over the years are such top-flight actors as Daniel Craig, Ludivine Sagnier, Daniel Brühl, Rachel Weisz, Franka Potente, Moritz Bleibtreu, Carey Mulligan, Johanna Wokalek, Andrea Riseborough and Nina Hoss.

Gisli Gardarsson, born in Iceland but grew up in Norway where he started his acting career. He is now more or less based in the UK.
He finished a four year acting degree at the Icelandic Academy of the Arts, graduating in the year 2001.
Gisli is a founder of the internationally acclaimed theatre and film company Vesturport.
Since it's foundation in 2001, Vesturport has performed in most major theatre venues around the World and has produced 5 feature films (Childeren, Parents, Brim, Country Wedding (co-producer) and Kings Road (co-producer).
Gisli's international break through came with his directional debut of Romeo and Juliet (where he also played Romeo). It premiered at the Reykjavik City Theatre, but then transferred to the Young Vic Theatre in London where it opened to great critical and audience acclaim. The production transferred to the West End in London in 2004. Again being hailed by the press as one of the most exciting theatrical events for years.

Klára Issová is a Czech actress with Syrian roots. She has starred in more then 80 films and TV series. Her biggest international role was in the Fox/TNT series "Legends" playing the lead love interest opposite Sean Bean and in the National Geographic drama series "Genius: Einstein" where she portrayed Marie Curie.
She won the Shooting Star Award at the Berlinale Film Festival and has been nominated three times for the Czech Lion Film Award, winning the award once.
Klára worked as a stage actor for 15 years including two productions she managed to produce as well as star in. Some of the most important roles she portrayed on stage were: Stella in A Streetcar Named Desire Alice in Closer Catherine in A View From The Bridge Lady Anne in Richard the Third
Klára graduated from Prague's Conservatory of Dramatic Art. She worked with the acting and English language coach Joe Weintraub for two years and work-shopped with Bernard Hiller, another acting coach, while staying in Los Angeles. She also participated in several physical workshops such as pantomime, improvisation, and dance flow to extend her knowledge of working with the body and follow its impulses. Recently she has been working with voice teacher Ivana Vostárková.
Klára always works to extend her skills to achieve authenticity and a deeper impression from her roles. She brings sincerity, openness, and joy to her work and finds satisfaction in preparing extensively to embody her characters.

Óscar Jaenada was born on 4 May 1975 in Esplugues de Llobregat, Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain. He recently finished the shooting of a Dutch film called CATACOMBE by Victor D. Ponten and a Belgian TV series called OPEN WATER by Tom Lenaerts, where he both played the leading role. In the French film Les Confins Du Monde by Guillaume Nicloux , he has a small part next to Gérard Depardieu.

Mélanie Laurent was born in Paris, France. She is the daughter of Annick, a ballet teacher, and Pierre, a voice actor, who is most recognized for the French version of The Simpsons (1989). She has a younger brother, Mathieu, and has both Sephardi Jewish (from Tunisia) and Ashkenazi Jewish (from Poland) ancestry. Halina Reijn is a renowned director, actress, author and producer. She is the winner of multiple awards, including the Dutch film Award, the Golden Calf for Best Actress , the Dutch theater awards Theo D'Or and Colombina, as well as the Courbois pearl, an oeuvre award which honours an actress who has made an indelible impression, both on stage as in film and television. Since 2017 she is also the proud owner of the Theo Mann-Bouwmeester Ring, an award to honour an actress who has contributed greatly to the Dutch theatre.
Her critically acclaimed directorial feature film debut INSTINCT (2019), starring Carice van Houten (GAME OF THRONES) and Marwan Kenzari (ALADDIN) has been selected for film festivals in Locarno (winner Variety Piazza Grande Award and special mention First Feature Competition), Toronto (world cinema competition), BFI Londen (Sutherland competition), Gent and Chicago, and is the foreign language Oscar submission of The Netherlands. INSTINCT is the first outing for Man Up, the production banner of Halina and Carice. MAN UP's goal is to create films and television drama with high current value and relevance, told from a female perspective. To explore darker, edgy stories that, through shame or fear, often remain untold. Quality, artistic integrity and openness to their audiences defines the productions of MAN UP.
Halina was professionally trained at the Maastricht Academy of Dramatic Arts and in 1997 debuted on stage as Ophelia in Hamlet, directed by Theu Boermans. She continued to act on stage in such productions as Shopping & Fucking, Three Sisters, Mourning Becomes Electra, Hedda Gabler, La Voix Humaine, The Fountainhead and recently Obsession, opposite Jude Law. Halina works with internationally acclaimed director Ivo van Hove at the International Theatre Amsterdam, performing their plays all over the world. She starred in the Oscar nominated film ZUS & ZO, in Paul Verhoeven's critically acclaimed BLACK BOOK and in Bryan Singer's VALKYRIE, opposite Tom Cruise. She can also be seen in the Swedish series CONSPIRACY OF SILENCE, directed by Charlotte Brändström.
In 2005, her first novel Prinsesje Nooitgenoeg (Prometheus) debuted, followed by Halina: doen alsof ik iemand anders ben (Prometheus, 2009), Antiglamour (co-written with Carice van Houten, Nijgh & Van Ditmar, 2013), and Loos (Nijgh & Van Ditmar, 2016). She is working on film scripts and television series based on original ideas. In 2019, Halina was named one of 20 most influential people in the Dutch media by a leading Dutch newspaper.
