- DirectorDanny BoyleStarsMichael FassbenderKate WinsletSeth RogenSteve Jobs takes us behind the scenes of the digital revolution, to paint a portrait of the man at its epicenter. The story unfolds backstage at three iconic product launches, ending in 1998 with the unveiling of the iMac.10/10--This biopic of Steve Jobs has an excellent performance from Michael Fassbender as well as a strong supporting cast, but its greatest asset is Aaron Sorkin's script, which is simply stunning in its brilliance. The three-act narrative structure makes this drama play out like a play, which makes it all the more enthralling and unique. Definitely not to be missed.
- DirectorAlfonso Gomez-RejonStarsThomas MannRJ CylerOlivia CookeHigh schooler Greg, who spends most of his time making parodies of classic movies with his co-worker Earl, finds his outlook forever altered after befriending a classmate who has just been diagnosed with cancer.10/10--This offbeat but brilliant indie dramedy is certainly a film to remember. Its portrayal of filmmaking is both refreshingly honest and clever, and the characters and script are incredibly thoughtful and quirky, which enhances the film considerably. It also has a fascinatingly down-to-earth side not seen in many American movies today.
- DirectorTom McCarthyStarsMark RuffaloMichael KeatonRachel McAdamsThe true story of how the Boston Globe uncovered the massive scandal of child molestation and cover-up within the local Catholic Archdiocese, shaking the entire Catholic Church to its core.9.5/10--It is no easy task to make a film on such a sensitive and disturbing subject as child sexual abuse in the Catholic Church, but this film does it near-perfectly. The ensemble cast here is uniformly top-notch. The narrative style, which handles the film a tense journalism procedural, makes the film even more gripping, enthralling and powerful as well.
- DirectorGeorge MillerStarsTom HardyCharlize TheronNicholas HoultIn a post-apocalyptic wasteland, a woman rebels against a tyrannical ruler in search for her homeland with the aid of a group of female prisoners, a psychotic worshiper and a drifter named Max.9.5/10--George Miller has brought this dystopian action franchise back with a massive bang. The action scenes here are nothing short of stunning, as are the film's excellent visuals. But it's really a stunning tone and great performances here that really elevate this film to the next level.
