- DirectorColin BruntonPatrick LeeStarsTeenage HeadThe ViletonesThe UglyGrab some safety pins, practice your sneer and get ready to revisit Toronto's thriving punk scene. THE LAST POGO documents the raucous 1978 punk concert held in Toronto's legendary Horseshoe Tavern-a night of unhinged music and unbridled mayhem. On December 1, 1978, legendary Toronto concert promoters Gary Topp and Gary Cormier-better known as The Garys-presented The Last Pogo, a rollicking, riotous concert at the venerable Horseshoe Tavern. On the bill were seminal bands from Toronto's punk rock scene: The Scenics, The Cardboard Brains, The Secrets, The Mods, The Ugly, The Viletones and Teenage Head. During the concert, the frenetic energy of 800+ thrashing fans in the club boiled over and a near-riot ensued. Filmmaker Colin Brunton was there with a camera crew to capture it all, from the irreverent punk musicians and the slam-dancing audience to the police who tried to stop the show and the firefighters called in to escort people from the premises.A history of the first wave of Toronto punk rock and new wave music, beginning with The Ramones' first appearance in 1976 and continuing until "The Last Pogo" in December, 1978.The movie contains archival footage, rare photos and interviews with the major and minor local players, as well as interviews with musicians from NYC, including The Dictators' Andy Shernoff, manager Danny Fields, The Dead Boys' Cheetah Chrome, The Ramones' Tommy Ramone, and England's The Police's Andy Summers and The Stranglers' Hugh Cornwell.Local Toronto, Hamilton and London Ontario bands include: Androids, Arson, Battered Wives, B-Girls, Cads, Cardboard Brains, Curse, Dents, Demics, Diodes, Doncasters, Drastic Measures, Existers, Fits, Forgotten Rebels, Government, Hummer Sisters, Johnny & The G-Rays, Lance Charles, Martha & The Muffins, Mods, NFG, Oh Those Pants... - DirectorColin BruntonKire PaputtsStarsTibor TakácsRamonesThe Dead BoysLondon had the Sex Pistols, New York had the Ramones, but Toronto had a punk movement all its own. In the end, the Toronto landscape by the late 70s was forever changed with the infusion of the DIY/Punk/Alternative culture(s) movement. This epically entertaining documentary chronicles the birth, life and death of Toronto's scuzzy '70s punk scene.
Shot at the Horseshoe Tavern in 1978, Colin Brunton’s legendary short The Last Pogo—a documentary recording of the self-pronounced, self-mythologizing death of the Toronto punk scene—is one of the unacknowledged pillars of the Toronto New Wave, one of the first films to dispel the common image of the city as a bastion of stodgy conservatism. A quarter-century later, Brunton and co-director Kire Paputts revisit the wreckage with this epic chronicle of the birth, life and death of punk Toronto-style, focusing not only on T.O. bands but those from such vital neighbouring scenes as Hamilton—which produced the Canadian punk movement’s most successful and influential band, Teenage Head, led by haunted frontman Frankie Venom. Exhaustively recounting the T.O. scene’s triumphs, tragedies, and lasting influence, The Last Pogo Jumps Again is a vital, near-encyclopaedic document of our city’s punk past. - DirectorChristopher MartiniStarsMax MartiniRobert WaldenSayra PlayerA story of a father and son, two veterans from two very different Wars, helping each other to get through each day, and heal the wounds of War.A story of a father and son, two veterans from two very different Wars, helping each other to get through each day, and heal the wounds of War.

Three sets of tenants in a live/work building have daily lives and/or current stories acutely involving one or more of the five senses. Rona, a specialty cake decorator, makes the worst tasting cakes in the world. She has mixed feelings about a visit from Roberto, a holiday fling she had. Roberto speaks little English, and Rona speaks little Italian, so they communicate primarily through sex. But Roberto also tries to make a connection through his passion, food. Rona's best friend and ex-lover is bisexual Robert, a house cleaner with a keen sense of smell. Robert is meeting with old boyfriends and girlfriends in search of the smell of love, all the while hoping to find that smell on the one he probably can't have, the husband half of married couple clients, the wife of whom is a fragrance specialist. Dr. Richard Jacob, an ophthalmologist, is quickly making mental memories of sound as he learns he is going deaf. One of the sounds he will miss the most is that of the contralto opera singer next door, who he has never seen. And widowed Ruth Seraph is a massage therapist who has a troubled relationship with her quietly rebellious teen-aged daughter, Rachel. A crisis occurs when Anna Miller comes for a massage appointment with her three-year old daughter, Amy Lee: while Rachel babysits Amy Lee, Amy Lee goes missing. Through this crisis, Ruth learns not only the technical importance of touch, but also its emotional resonance.- Written by Huggo

Out of blues and prog and glam and early metal a distinct American rock hybrid started to emerge across the country courtesy of Alice Cooper, Grand Funk Railroad et al and at its very heart is The Great American Rock Anthem.
At the dawn of the 70s American rock stopped looking for a revolution and started looking for a good time; enter the classic American rock anthem - big drums, a soaring guitar, a huge chorus and screaming solos. This film celebrates the evolution of the American Rock Anthem during its glory years between 1970 and 1990 as the anthem became a staple of the emerging stadium rock and AOR radio and then MTV.

As magnetic lead-singer Joe Dick holds the whole magilla together through sheer force of will, all the tensions and pitfalls of life on the road come bubbling to the surface.
- Written by <Ummagumma@sos.on.sa>
The successful fringe punk band, Hard Core Logo - formed in 1978 and disbanded in 1991 - are reuniting five years after their break-up for what they believe is a one-time only benefit concert for front man Joe Dick's musical idol, Bucky Haight, who lost his legs in a gun shooting. But they decide to mend their differences, which revolved primarily around their former manager Ed Festus and the strong personalities of the two front men, Joe Dick and Billy Tallent, and embark on a concert tour of western Canada. As documentary filmmaker Bruce McDonald films the band on tour, the old wounds between all four band members may not have healed as Billy, arguably the band member with the brightest post-Hard Core prospects, may garner more attention than the band's true leader Joe. The problems may not be able to endure the added stress of being constantly in front of Bruce's documentary camera, which, when unedited, does not lie.- Written by Huggo
