11 Things to Expect From "The Walking Dead" Season 79 of 11
Somehow, Dwight ends up with more of Daryl's stuff
Daryl's Stage 5 Clinger is at it again. The first official Season 7 sneak peek was a wordless scene showing Dwight (Austin Amelio) wearing Daryl's jacket and riding around on a motorcycle. What gives? Comic book fans suspect this is a "remix" of events from Issue 103, including a walker possibly falling off of a bridge. The original scene included Dwight, but also Jesus, who was operating on a mission from Rick. Will the TV show follow the same storyline? Maybe, but Daryl isn't even in the comic book, and so many other characters have changed from the page that it's really hard to know exactly how the comic stories will be adapted for TV. That's part of the fun!
In terms of what's ahead for Dwight, showrunner Scott M. Gimple teased to Entertainment Weekly, "Dwight has a very big story this season, as he did in the book. Dwight is a character that was trying to escape Negan and now he is one of Negan’s most trusted lieutenants. That says a lot about that character. And he became one of his most trusted lieutenants after his face was burned. That makes for a very interesting character, a very conflicted character."
Gimple added that Dwight is "very important to the overall story and the story of Alexandria and the Sanctuary, the story of the greater world." But, to put it mildly, "He has one of the more complicated stories."
