12 Best Comedies I've Seen
Just the one's I've seen. I'm sure 30 Rock is great, but I haven't seen it yet. Psych is also amazing and hilarious, but technically not a comedy. I apologize for spelling errors in advance.
UPDATE 10/16/14: I have since seen some new comedies and have decided to update the list! Enjoy.

- CreatorDan HarmonStarsJoel McHaleDanny PudiDonald GloverA suspended lawyer is forced to enroll in a community college with an eccentric staff and student body. The best comedy I have ever seen. No other comedy on television has alternate timelines and a Prophesy of The Truest Repairman. An All-Out Pillow War and Annual Paintball Fights are what you can expect from this comedy which just gets better and more meta every year (excluding the gas-leak year). Now moving to Yahoo, this Cult Comedy is THE comedy to watch. If you have to pick one, pick this.
- CreatorCarter BaysCraig ThomasStarsJosh RadnorJason SegelCobie SmuldersA father recounts to his children - through a series of flashbacks - the journey he and his four best friends took leading up to him meeting their mother.Neil Patrick Harris AND Jason Segal? Come on. The show practically cheats it's way to 2nd Place. Continuity on this show is AMAZING. With Call-Backs and Flash-Forwards, this show keeps you on your feet trying to keep up, while simultaneously rolling on the floor in a fit of laughter. If only it had gone one more season... Anyway, it's wait for it... LEGENDARY!
- CreatorMitchell HurwitzStarsJason BatemanMichael CeraPortia de RossiLevel-headed son Michael Bluth takes over family affairs after his father is imprisoned. But the rest of his spoiled, dysfunctional family are making his job unbearable.Jason Bateman. Will Arnett. Portia DeRossi. David Cross. Tony Hale. Freaking Michael Cera got his start here. A show about the most dysfunctional family in the world, the Bluths, that launched the careers of many of the funniest people in comedy today, second only to maybe SNL. What other comedy can say Charlize Theron had a multi-episode arc? Now on Netflix after many years on cancellation, Arrested is proving that there's always money in the banana stand.
- CreatorGreg DanielsMichael SchurStarsAmy PoehlerJim O'HeirNick OffermanThe absurd antics of an Indiana town's public officials as they pursue sundry projects to make their city a better place. In the vein of the office, it stars SNL alum Amy Poelher, Nick Offerman, Asiz Ansari, Aubrey Plaza, Chris (Star-Lord) Pratt and many more familiar faces as the Parks and Recreation Department. One of the smartest comedies on television, it's political, but relatable. It has also spawned one of the greatest characters in TV history, Ron Swanson. "Give a man a fish, you feed him for a day. Don't teach a man to fish, and you feed yourself. He's a grown man. Fishing's not that hard."
- CreatorDan GoorMichael SchurStarsAndy SambergStephanie BeatrizTerry CrewsComedy series following the exploits of Det. Jake Peralta and his diverse, lovable colleagues as they police the NYPD's 99th Precinct. In it's freshman year, It's already in 5th place thanks to the fantastic cast who mesh well and play great off each other. Andy Samberg, hot off of SNL, is the heart and soul of the show and won a Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Comedy Series for his hilarious portrayal of Det. Jake Peralta. Terry Crews and Melissa Fumero shine as well. Joe Lo Truglio, provides more evidence that those actors from The State are omnipresent.
- CreatorLorne MichaelsStarsThe Saturday Night Live BandDon PardoDarrell HammondA famous guest host stars in parodies and sketches created by the cast of this witty show.THE sketch comedy show, it's currently in it's 40th Season. Don't feel pressured to start from the beginning though, the show is practically separated by generations. I started with Season 31 which is the first season with my favorite cast members: Bill Hader, Andy Samberg, Kristen Wiig, and Jason Sudekis. Seth Myers was on the Weekend Update desk and every Saturday was a night of endless laughs. Not to say the current lineup is bad though, it's still quite good. But let's just say that Bill Hader in his return as a host on October 11th made me laugh more then any host they've had since his departure.
- CreatorRob CorddryDavid WainJonathan SternStarsRob HuebelRob CorddryKen MarinoExplores the emotional struggles and sexual politics of a group of doctors charged with healthy libidos. Their dedication to their personal lives is relentless, interrupted only by the occasional need to treat sick children.Rob Corddry (Hot Tub Time Machine, Operation: Endgame) is a fantastic comedic actor. BUT he's an even better writer, shown here in the show he created. The show parodies Hospital shows like ER, Grey's Anatomy, and House to create one of the craziest, zaniest, comedies on television. It stars Rob himself, along with Rob Huebel, Malin Akerman, Ken Marino, Megan Mullaly, Michael Cera and more, with frequent visits from Nick Offerman and Jordan Peele.
- CreatorElizabeth MeriwetherStarsZooey DeschanelJake JohnsonMax GreenfieldAfter a bad break-up, Jess, an offbeat young woman, moves into an apartment loft with three single men. Although they find her behavior very unusual, the men support her - most of the time.Zooey Dechanel and Jake Johnson headline this outrageous comedy about a woman who moves into apartment with 3 men she just met. The season 2 finale was one of the funniest half hours of television I've ever seen, and if you're looking for a show to fill the void How I Met Your Mother left, THIS IS IT.
- CreatorGreg DanielsRicky GervaisStephen MerchantStarsSteve CarellJenna FischerJohn KrasinskiA mockumentary on a group of typical office workers, where the workday consists of ego clashes, inappropriate behavior, tedium and romance.THE workplace comedy, where else are you going find office prank wars as long-lived as Jim and Dwight's? With the exit of Steve Carrel, the show struggled in it's final seasons but with 9 years, the relationships with the characters pulls you through. Plus: the best wedding episode in the past decade of comedies.
- CreatorDavid CaspeStarsEliza CoupeElisha CuthbertZachary KnightonThis Chicago-set sitcom follows the intertwined lives of six young urbanites trying to learn the ropes of adulthood. Through breakups and whatever other curve-balls life throws them, the pals stick together. It's like friends but it's not. The most meta comedy second only to Community, Happy Endings starts as just a normal romanitic-comedyesque show but becomes so much more by the end of season One. Unfortunately it was unfairly cancelled before it's time, but fans of the show will always remember that strange block in Chicago where weird crap happened every week.
- CreatorChuck LorreBill PradyStarsJohnny GaleckiJim ParsonsKaley CuocoAspiring film actress Penny Teller moves into a Pasadena apartment across the hall from brilliant, but socially awkward, physicists Sheldon Cooper and Leonard Hofstadter and shows them how little they know about life outside of the lab. While the laugh track is a little off-putting and some characters less then lovable (Howard), the show is still one of the best and most popular comedies on television averaging 15 million viewers a week...IN THE RERUNS! No doubt Sheldon and Company have worked their way into America's heart and there seems to be no color yellow to their Green Lantern.
- CreatorAdam F. GoldbergSeth GordonStarsBret HarrisonAlphonso McAuleyChristian SlaterA high-tech security firm takes extreme, and often questionable, measures to sell their protection services. While the second season is less then exemplary, the first season of just 7 episodes is enough for it to be on the list. While it was a short season, it made enough of an impact with it's great humor and characters. The highlight is Michael Rosenbaum's (Smallville's Lex Luthor) lovable douche Dutch who was not in Season 2 because, "He got arrested for selling clean urine to airline pilots." Christian Slater also stars as Oz, the team's needlessly intense boss.
