- CreatorEdward KayRoberto SantiagoStarsSteve BlumMona MarshallTifanie ChristunA group of young teens is unexpectedly sent to the mysterious Digital World and paired up with their own powerful, morphing monster called the Digimon. Together the entire group set out on an adventure to fight evil and save the world. An excellent mon anime with great characters and interesting lore
- CreatorAkiyoshi HongoStarsMasako NozawaMakoto TsumuraMayumi YamaguchiAn animated series based on the popular children's toy "Digimon", in which kids raise electronic monsters to fight against those raised by other kids. The proper follow up to the original Digimon and does well to expand on what was already established
- CreatorAkiyoshi HongoStarsJunko TakeuchiKumiko WatanabeMasami KikuchiFive children from the Real World have been called to the Digital World to acquire the "legendary spirits" and save the Digital World from one of the 3 Sacred Angels, Cherubimon, who has rebelled against the other two. This season of Digimon I'd more recommend to Digimon fans than anime fans in general but it definitely is a good anime. It has few twists on Digimon's formula but don't let that turn you away
- CreatorMasashi KishimotoStarsJunko TakeuchiMaile FlanaganKate HigginsNaruto Uzumaki, a mischievous adolescent ninja, struggles as he searches for recognition and dreams of becoming the Hokage, the village's leader and strongest ninja.Ehhh...it's good (well for me personally it's only watchable). While I don't think it really lives up to all the praises it gets it is good for a while. (Then Sasuke happened, but that's for another time)
- CreatorIzumi TôdôStarsDavid RogersJoe OchmanSteve Blumn the world of Mushrambo, human life has all but come to an end. After a deadly virus threatened the extinction of mankind, a new race called the Enterrans was created to preserve life on Earth. However, relations between the Enterrans and their creators did not remain peaceful. Soon a war broke out with the Enterrans fighting against the humans and their robots. Ultimately the Enterrans were the victors of this conflict, renaming Earth as Enterra in honor of their victory. Before the last vestiges of humanity fell, one of the few remaining scientists put his daughter, Yakumo Shindou, into a sleep chamber. His hope was that his daughter would one day reawaken and find the human sanctuary known as Shinzo, reviving humanity and restoring peace between humans and Enterrans. Centuries have passed since the war; Yakumo now awakens and meets an Enterran named Mashura who pledges to assist in her quest. Also joined by the Enterrans Sago and Kutal, the group must now work to locate Yakumo's missing memories and locate Shinzo. But not every Enterran is as kind as Yakumo's new friends and some are prepared to commit any atrocity to prevent the return of humanity.Basically is what Dragon Ball (Not Z, do not get confused) should have been from beginning to end. Good adventure, excellent character, damn good action...the only thing bad I could say is that the animation itself could have been a little better (seriously this anime looks like it's out of the late 80s) but other than that it's damn awesome.
- StarsTakahiro SakuraiMugihitoSatsuki YukinoNine super-powered cyborg soldiers join forces to combat Black Ghost, the terrorist organization which they were originally created to serve.Truth be told I haven't finished this one but I'm getting around to it, it's an anime that's definitely worth your time. It falls under a different genre as Shinzo, I have practically all the same praises for this show.
- StarsSayaka ÔharaJun FukuyamaKazuya NakaiKimihiro Watanuki, a high-schooler, is troubled by monsters and spirits, but meets Yuko Ichihara, a beautiful witch, who grants his wish to not be able to see them. However, there is a price. While not as action packed as some of the other programmings I have on this list, it's good for similar reasons. I highly recommend this if you're into the supernatural genre
- StarsDeborah Sale ButlerLiam O'BrienSpike SpencerHigh School student Kazuki Muto thinks he's saving a girl from a monster, but it turns out that he's the one who needs saving.Good but has a few minute problems in it's plot.
- CreatorEiichiro OdaStarsMayumi TanakaAkemi OkamuraLaurent VerninMonkey D. Luffy sets off on an adventure with his pirate crew in hopes of finding the greatest treasure ever, known as the "One Piece."I'll be honest I did like this for the longest time but I stopped around episode 500-ish (All filler skipped, thank god). It's a quirky little adventure and everything that Naruto Shippuden gets wrong, One Piece gets right.
- StarsKaori MizuhashiYûko SasamotoTomoe HanbaPrince Laharl is awakened after 2 years of sleep by an Angel, Flonne, who was ordered to assassinate him but fails. Both discover Laharl's father passed away. They're later joined by Etna, Laharl's Vassal. The three heroes travel through the Netherworld to help Laharl to succeed his father by becoming the new Overlord.I'd only really recommend this to someone who wants to get into the Disgaea series without playing any of the games first. It is a short but somewhat bittersweet anime for me (And I have played the Disgaea this anime is based on and 2 others).
- StarsToshiyuki MorikawaMisato FukuenAkio ÔtsukaDante, a superhuman son of a powerful murdered demon and human woman is a master of gun and sword who runs an "odd-job" agency. Despite financial troubles, he never loses his cool since work always comes calling sooner or later.I very lightly recommend this anime and that's more or less due to the fact it has a lot less action then the games. A good thing about this anime is that you don't have to have played any of the games to get it (well okay it doesn't really bother to explain where Trish and Lady came from but that's negligible). Check it out if you want Devil May Cry light.
- CreatorKentaro MiuraStarsMarc DiraisonNobutoshi CannaCarrie KeranenGuts, a wandering mercenary, joins the Band of the Hawk after being defeated in a duel by Griffith, the group's leader and founder. Together, they dominate every battle, but something menacing lurks in the shadows. An Oldie but a goodie. This anime is probably the darkest this list might ever get (I make no promises thought), especially when ya get to the last couple of episodes. I get chills just thinking back on it.
- StarsBrice ArmstrongSteve OlsonStephanie NadolnyDragon Ball tells the tale of a young warrior by the name of Son Goku, a young peculiar boy with a tail who embarks on a quest to become stronger and learns of the Dragon Balls, when, once all 7 are gathered, grant any wish of choice. It's been a long ass time since I watched this but I remember enjoying it alot. This is going to be a subjective one because I haven't watched recently and not really sure if it still holds up.
- StarsDoc HarrisChristopher SabatScott McNeilWith the help of the powerful Dragonballs, a team of fighters led by the saiyan warrior Goku defend the planet earth from extraterrestrial enemies.Oh hell yes. The ultimate anime if you want over the top action (who the hell needs plot when you got epic fights and energy blasts flying all over the place all high speed and sh**). Okay, okay to be fair there is a feasible story buried underneath all of the epically insane action.
- CreatorAkira ToriyamaStarsElise BaughmanAndrew ChandlerMasako NozawaAfter Goku is made a kid again by the Black Star Dragon Balls, he goes on a journey to get back to his old self. While not exactly what I'd call a worthy followup to DBZ, it is enjoyable.
- CreatorAkiyoshi HongoStarsTifanie ChristunBrian DonovanDoug ErholtzThree years after Apocalymon's fall, the Digimon Kaizer emerges. Using dark powers and Control Spires, he subjugates Digimon. New DigiDestined wield Digimentals against the Kaizer, but his sinister Spiral plan may overcome them.I'd call this the black sheep of the Digimon series, it's still good in it's own right. I would recommend Adventure, Tamers, Frontier and Data Squad (by a small margin) over Adventure 02.
- CreatorDaisuke SatôStarsJun'ichi SuwabeEri KitamuraNobuyuki HiyamaHigh school students are overwhelmed with the start of the zombie apocalypse. The only full fledged survival horror anime I've really come across (if there are any other good ones out there, let me know). The characters are good, the action is over-the-top but enjoyable nonetheless, and the story is somewhat interesting.
- StarsJunko TakeuchiYuki KaidaKanako MitsuhashiThe history of Gon Freecs, a boy who left home alone to become a Hunter. In the hard test, Gon meets Leorio, Kurapika and Killua.Damn good it is indeed. Many of the praises I have given Shinzo and Cyborg 009 are all present here. The only problem here is that the story seems to come to an abrupt end (Though I heard the recent remake gets further along in the story so who knows. I'll get around to it soon enough).
- CreatorSatoshi TajiriJun'ichi MasudaKen SugimoriStarsVeronica TaylorRachael LillisEric StuartCovering the continuing adventures of series protagonist Ash Ketchum and Pikachu, and his best friend Brock, the two meet a new coordinator named Dawn, who travels with them through Sinnoh and enters Pokemon Contests.I'll be honest I stopped watching this anime part of the way through the generation IV iteration mainly because it was kind of getting repetitive and the moments that have any kind of weight to them were becoming fewer and far between. Funny thing is I also haven't played any Pokemon game after the fourth generation (though I hear X and Y are excellent iterations and I want a chance to play them when I can).
- CreatorJin KobayashiStarsLuci ChristianBrandon PotterBrina PalenciaA young high schooler is in love with an oblivious classmate; a delinquent classmate is in love with her. Both struggle to confess their feelings and their antics lead to crazy situations.Yet another anime I shamefully admit that I haven't seen all of but all the episodes that I have seen are all excellent. If you need a good laugh then this is your anime.
- StarsMomoko SaitoJôji NakataSayaka ÔharaOn a wrecked, class-divided world, Solty, a robot with no memory, is adopted by an unlikely guardian: a bounty hunter looking for his missing daughter. Together, they discover secrets about their world that will change their lives forever.Beautiful animation, very likeable characters, and excellent story (though I'd be lying if I didn't it say can get confusing if you don't pay attention to some of the details).
- CreatorYoshihiro TogashiStarsNozomu SasakiJustin CookChristopher SabatAfter a teenage delinquent is killed while saving a child's life from an approaching car, the rulers of the underworld send him back to become an "Underworld Detective" investigating demons apparitions in the human world.God damn. You want a combination of supernatural and action-packed fighting? Look no further. Though I don't think it's quite as good as Shinzo, it is a VERY close second (alongside Cyborg 009).
- StarsPaul DobsonUnshô IshizukaKathleen BarrFrom the games to the screens, there is an animation for all video game fans, the story of each character told in a super animation, welcome to the world of Darkstalkers.A good 4 part OVA about a wide variety of warriors based on various supernatural creatures of the night (okay not all of them in real life would considered nocturnal but whatever ya get the point). Watch it if your a fan of the games or even an anime fan in general.
- StarsYumiko ShakuHôchû ÔtsukaGrant JamesWhat would happen if the Cold War was still at large?Sexy babes in an awesome spy story? What more could you really ask for?
- CreatorToshifumi KawaseStarsMiyu IrinoYui MakinoDaisuke NamikawaChildhood friends Syaoran and Sakura travel across dimensions with Kurogane, Fye, and Mokona to retrieve fragments containing Sakura's lost memories, overcoming challenges in alternate realities.
