- DirectorChristopher BarryStarsPatrick TroughtonAnneke WillsMichael CrazeThe TARDIS arrives on the Earth colony of Vulcan where the newly-regenerated Doctor assumes the identity of an Earth Examiner. All 6 episodes are lost. There are some surviving clips available. This is the greatest Troughton story by far not just for the post-regeneration scene. The story is so gripping and well done. Sadly because of the Terry Nation dalek series contract with the BBC and limited distribution this is the least likely to ever be recovered
if any are ever to be returned of this story. it will seem to be only by the efforts of private collectors coming forward. - DirectorDerek MartinusStarsPatrick TroughtonFrazer HinesAlec RossTrying to find the stolen TARDIS, the Second Doctor and Jamie are lured into a trap by the Doctor's old enemies the Daleks.Only episode 2 has been recovered because of a lucky sale by a fan. Least likely to be found however i would love to see Jamie's search for Victoria and the Dalek's civil war
if anymore are ever to be returned of this story. It will seem to be only by the efforts of private collectors coming forward. - DirectorBill SellarsStarsWilliam HartnellPeter PurvesJackie LaneThe Doctor, Steven and Dodo arrive in the realms of the Celestial Toymaker, who forces them to play his deadly games. The Celestial Toymaker Only episode 4 exists
The doctor and his companions have to outwit to escape the imprisonment from their villain (played by Michael Gough) by playing a series of games and challenges.
Because this is so heavily reliant on visuals to get through this story, it is the worst loss of the junking. Unless all episodes are returned, the only way to enjoy this serial is through full animation of the 3 missing episodes
What hurts this story is the absence of Hartnell due to his health and well to put it bluntly, the companion, DoDo - DirectorPaddy RussellStarsWilliam HartnellPeter PurvesDavid WestonThe TARDIS lands in sixteenth century Paris and Steven becomes involved with a group of Huguenots.THE MASSACRE (all missing)
The best historical of Doctor Who. It is gripping and very engaging. The doctor has a look-a-like. Peter Perves as Stephen really carries the story on his shoulders quite well. Stephen gets fed up with the Doctor. It would be very nice to get visuals to this very well done serial. On the bad we do get the intro to the companion DODO in last episode. - DirectorMichael Leeston-SmithStarsWilliam HartnellPeter PurvesMaureen O'BrienThe TARDIS lands in the middle of the Trojan War, where the Doctor is mistaken for the god Zeus.THE MYTH MAKERS - all episodes are missing however some material does exist including Vicky exiting the Tardis. This involves the trojans. It is really interesting for a historical. Vicky departs the Doctor.
- DirectorDouglas CamfieldStarsWilliam HartnellAdrienne HillPeter PurvesThe Doctor runs afoul of the Daleks and Special Security Agent Bret Vyon on the planet Kembel.Daleks Master Plan (Ep 2, 5, & 10 have been found of 12 part story) Many of the missing episodes do have surviving material such as the death of Katarina. This story is the most violent of the first doctors adventures. Much of the 2nd half of this story is just padding. It is amazing how much $ was wasted in filling this out into 11 full episodes, including one off shoot xmas story. Perhaps it would have worked better as 7 or 8
The episodes we do have were only found in the UK. Records indicate that this story was one of the first to be wiped & junked, including the feast of Steven. More episodes returning of this story will seem to be only by the efforts of private collectors coming forward. - DirectorHugh DavidStarsPatrick TroughtonFrazer HinesDeborah WatlingThe Doctor, Jamie and Victoria are taken prisoner by the staff of a gas refinery, who have lost contact with their drilling rigs and experienced mysterious drops in pressure. All episodes are missing but there are some surviving clips restored from the censor in Australia. This story scared me as a grown man. It is not what you see that scares you in this one.
This is the first apperance of the infamous sonic screwdriver and the final story featuring Victoria. - DirectorGerald BlakeStarsPatrick TroughtonFrazer HinesDeborah WatlingWhen the TARDIS materialises in the Himalayas, the Doctor decides to pay a return visit to the nearby Det-Sen monastery only to be accused of murder.Only Episode 2 has been recovered of this 6 parter.
This brings us the first appearance of the Yeti, the Great Intelligence, and Prof. Travers played by Victoria (Deborah Watling) real life father Jack Watling - DirectorChristopher BarryStarsWilliam HartnellJackie LanePeter PurvesThe Doctor, Steven and Dodo arrive in the far future and are welcomed by the advanced civilisation of the Elders but soon begin to suspect they are hiding a secret. The Savages (Missing all 4 episodes) Nice to see the departure of Stephen, the machine drain process, and the acting of the ruler take on Hartnells doctor persona. If the visuals were done right and all 4 were to be recovered i believe this story will be given more credit than it has.
Personal Note : This was the first Missing Dr Who stories i "saw". - DirectorDerek MartinusStarsWilliam HartnellMaureen O'BrienPeter PurvesAfter an encounter with a hostile robot called a Chumblie, the Doctor and his companions are rescued by a group of female Drahvins.GALAXY 4 - only episode 3 has been found plus a 5minute clip of episode 1 was restored however seeing Manga's plan go to crap at the end will be a treat to see
- DirectorJohn DaviesStarsPatrick TroughtonFrazer HinesAnneke WillsThe TARDIS arrives at a holiday camp company with the crew worried by a prediction of giant crabs and the Doctor becomes interested in the apparent madman Medok's stories of creatures that roam the colony at night. All episodes are missing.
This is a bizarre story but in a captivating way. There is mind control, cult submission, big brother vibes. More companions then what they know what to do with but it still is a pretty good story. - DirectorDouglas CamfieldStarsPatrick TroughtonFrazer HinesDerek PollittThe Doctor and Victoria are taken back to the Goodge Street base by Colonel Lethbridge-Stewart where the Doctor becomes convinced there is a traitor in their midst.Episode 3 is the only missing. The story goes that episode 3 was destroyed by a drone stike. It be Nice to see Jamie and the solider fighting the fog and the intro to who would later be the Brigadier
- DirectorTristan de Vere ColeStarsPatrick TroughtonFrazer HinesDeborah WatlingThe Doctor and Jamie arrive on a mysterious spacecraft whose only occupant is a dangerous Servo Robot. This story is the introduction to the brief, smart, adorable, and great companion Zoe. This cybermen story is a lot better than the others of Troughtons run. With numerous sets rotations it maybe confusing to know who is where and when but a rather enjoyable story.
No decent looking reconstruction seems to be currently available for fans to enjoy the story with surviving audio - DirectorDouglas CamfieldStarsWilliam HartnellWilliam RussellJacqueline HillBarbara allies herself with a man whose wife and son were murdered by El Akir as the Doctor and Vicki are caught up in Richard's plan to offer his sister's hand in marriage to Saladin's brother. The Crusade : Episode 1 & 3 are missing. It is always nice to have the beginning of the stories. Plus any chance to see more acting by Julian Glover would be nice.
- DirectorGerry MillStarsPatrick TroughtonDonald PickeringVictor WindingWith Polly having apparently forgotten them, the Doctor, Ben and Jamie decide to carry out their own investigation of Chameleon Tours.(episodes 1 & 3 were found of 6)
Invasion of Body Snatchers meets Doctor Who at an airport. It would had been better to have Ben & Polly get a more proper send off in their last adventure.
This story is the first time that the threats the Doctor faces are taking place on earth in the present. They are coming to get you!! Take the same advice i take from the good people of Monty Python, RUN AWAY !! - DirectorDouglas CamfieldStarsPatrick TroughtonFrazer HinesWendy PadburyThe Doctor and the newly formed UNIT must stop an invasion by Cybermen and a sinister industrialist who is in league with them.Even though episode 1 & 4 are brilliantly animated it would be nice to see the helicopter escape and the beginning of the story
- DirectorWaris HusseinStarsWilliam HartnellWilliam RussellJacqueline HillThe TARDIS arrives on Earth in the 13th century, where it is claimed by famed explorer Marco Polo as a gift for his employer, Kublai Khan. Polo hopes to finally buy his way out of the Khan's service - but if he succeeds, the Doctor and his friends will never be able to get back to their Ship ever again... (Originally broadcast in seven parts.)Marco Polo (All 7 episodes Missing) The very first historical of the story which is based on the believed adventures written by Marco Polo. It would be lovely to see the elaborate sets and costumes but even that is not saving how dragged out and repetitive this serial is. This is a 7 part story that could have been squeezed to 4 or 5.
- DirectorDerek MartinusStarsPatrick TroughtonBernard BresslawDeborah WatlingVarga revives and takes Victoria hostage as he works to revive his crew while the Doctor and Jamie find Penley stealing medical supplies.Episodes 2 & 3 were animated for the dvd. I do have to point out however that the animation made for the dvd is just awful. The fan made reconstruction do a much better job of pulling me into the story. Even though the episodes are missing the story moves quite well without them to be honest.
Keep an eye out of Peter Sallis of Wallace and Gromit in this serial - DirectorDerek MartinusStarsWilliam HartnellAnneke WillsMichael CrazeThe Cybermen take over the base again, apparently to stop the humans using the Z-Bomb, but then the Doctor realises they intend to use it themselves to destroy Earth.the very first regeneration has been restored. Alot of episode 4 has surviving clips. For the DVD, Episode 4 has been animated but it be nice to see the defeat and disintegration of the cybermen. The General in the story is so over the top it is hard to take him seriously.
Because of William Hartnells declining health episode 3 does not have the Doctor. This serial features more of the companion Ben who mostly took a back seat in other tales. - DirectorHenric HirschStarsWilliam HartnellWilliam RussellJacqueline HillIan finds himself held prisoner by the treacherous Leon while the Doctor attempts to engineer Susan and Barbara's escape.Reign of Terror Episode 4 & 5 were animated for the dvd but i would love to see the expressions when Ian tells the truth on how they came to be where they are.
- DirectorJulia SmithStarsWilliam HartnellAnneke WillsMichael CrazeThe Doctor discovers Polly and Ben aboard the TARDIS shortly before the ship arrives in 17th century Cornwall, where the local churchwarden gives the Doctor a cryptic message shortly before being murdered.RRRReee Matey all thy episodes are missing to be honest i have not completed watching this serial so i can not effectively comment on its contents.
- DirectorMorris BarryStarsPatrick TroughtonFrazer HinesAnneke WillsThe TARDIS arrives on the Moon in the year 2070. When Jamie is injured, the other travellers are forced to seek the help of a moonbase afflicted with a space plague.Episode 1 & 3 are missing. This is a weird story for me. Too many companions they knew what to do with. The science is bizarre. The cybermen are beaten in their plan like a saturday morning cartoon villain. It doesnt do well for me personally
- DirectorHugh DavidStarsPatrick TroughtonMichael CrazeFrazer HinesThe Doctor, Polly and Ben arrive in 1746, in the aftermath of the Battle of Culloden, and are captured by a group of Highlanders shortly before they themselves are captured by redcoats.Completely Missing. This has the intro to Jamie and Patrick Troughton doctor disguises himself in costumes and accents. But this is a historical and not that interesting to me
- DirectorMichael HartStarsPatrick TroughtonFrazer HinesBrian PeckSpace beacons are being destroyed by pirates, who are salvaging the argonite metal. When the Doctor, Jamie and Zoe arrive on one of the beacons, they are mistaken for pirates.Only episode 2 exist out of a very long 6 episode story. The Doctor Jamie and Zoe barely have anything to do within this story. The characters we are watching are not in the slightest bit interesting. This is written by Robert Holmes the best writer for Doctor Who. This is just a pathetic script.
- DirectorJulia SmithStarsPatrick TroughtonMichael CrazeFrazer HinesThe TARDIS materialises on a deserted beach where the Doctor and his friends are captured by primitive warriors and taken to the fabled city of Atlantis.Episode 2 & 3 have been recovered of the most campy ridiculous doctor who story. I can not see wasting money on animating the remaining stories. Nor wasting money on the upcoming dvd
Why you may ask did i put this story as the worst of the stories that have some or all missing. Well it is bad to have a doctor who story with little to no doctor (Space Pirates, Mission to the Unknown) but it is much worse to completely waste their time in a story where they take center stage
