- DirectorRichard MarquandStarsMark HamillHarrison FordCarrie FisherAfter rescuing Han Solo from Jabba the Hutt, the Rebel Alliance attempt to destroy the second Death Star, while Luke struggles to help Darth Vader back from the dark side. For me this is number 1 because it was when the franchise was at its height and I was 13 so had more understanding. It influenced my taste in movies hugely.
- DirectorShane MeadowsStarsPaddy ConsidineGary StretchToby KebbellA disaffected soldier returns to his hometown to get even with the thugs who brutalized his mentally-challenged brother years ago. This is a simple choice. Its a good script that tells a good story and is directed brilliantly.
- DirectorZack SnyderStarsSarah PolleyVing RhamesMekhi PhiferA nurse, a policeman, a young married couple, a salesman and other survivors of a worldwide plague that is producing aggressive, flesh-eating zombies, take refuge in a mega Midwestern shopping mall.Ok, apocalyptic end of the world stuff is right up my street. I love it. Hence the reason that I cant wait for the next 'Walking Dead' series.
So when the remake of one of my favourite Zombie movies ever was released I thought 'Hmm, ok, lets give it a go'. In my opinion they did a good job. I hope that the new version of 'Evil Dead' matches this remake. - DirectorDanny BoyleStarsEwan McGregorEwen BremnerJonny Lee MillerRenton, deeply immersed in the Edinburgh drug scene, tries to clean up and get out despite the allure of drugs and the influence of friends.Danny Boyle is a genius as far as I am concerned. I love British films by British directors, with the exception of 'The Kings Speech' which I found to be overly marketed and irritating. Don't get me wrong, the acting was fantastic but it did nothing for me. Anyway I am only putting one of Danny Boyle's films in the top 5 and it was a toss up between 'Trainspotting' and '28 Days Later'. Well we have 'Dawn of the Dead' at number 3 so 'Trainspotting' it is'
- DirectorRichard CurtisStarsHugh GrantMartine McCutcheonLiam NeesonFollows the lives of eight very different couples in dealing with their love lives in various loosely interrelated tales all set during a frantic month before Christmas in London, England.Yes another British film. Told you I love them and before you all go commenting that Richard Curtis is a New Zealander it is a British film as far as I am concerned. I actually (nice pun dump there) burned the carrots in orange one Christmas because I couldn't concentrate on what I was doing. Call me a softy but I just like it.
