Director Adrian Lyne's Best Films of 20125 of 11
AL: #7 - "I loved The Master. I thought it was pretty staggering – the way it was made. The direction by Paul Thomas Anderson was extraordinary and the performances as well. I thought it was Joaquin Phoenix's best performance, bar non. I’m also a sucker for Philip Seymour Hoffman, who I think is one of the best actors working in the states. People had concerns about the last act, which petered out a little bit. But I was so bewitched by the way it was made and the acting and people you haven’t seen endlessly before. He is himself a master, the director. Wonderful really. I was in awe of the movie. That’s a very personal thing for a director – what you react to."
