Best Horror Films of 2012 (so far)5 of 5
#5: Okay, okay, Chronicle is not a pure-play horror movie. But it does have a lot of horror elements to it and the first hour has a suspenseful, taut narrative that puts it in the same league. Three high school friends gain superpowers after finding a strange meteorite. One of them, who apparently wields more power than the other two, uses his abilities to seek revenge on real and imagined wrongs. Director Josh Trank wields the same prowess on the script by Max Landis (son of director John Landis), though, like the film, things do seem to get out-of-control as it nears the end.
