01:00:00 Ben-Hur was arrested and turned into slaves
01:30:00 Roman fleets beat Macedonia on the sea
02:00:00 Ben-Hur back to Jerusalem
02:20:00 Intermission/ Esther told Ben-Hur that his mom and sister were dead
03:10:00 chariot race finished / Jesus assembly scene
03:40:00 Jesus crucifixion and diseases (lepers) gone
Good: first 3-hr screenplay till the "Jesus on the hill" scene (well-written dialogue that even antagonist's arguments have their points, favorable characters and great character development such as the sheik, Messala, and Quintus Arrius[灰色地帶人物塑造], detailed storylines[Messala checking the roof afterwards, Ben-Hur talking to horses, the realism portrayed in chariot race scene: fish lap counter), costume, score, ensemble performances, Heston's and Stephen Boyd (Messala)'s acting and casting, the classic chariot race scene (not directed by Wyler), sheik with Balthasar and with Messala scenes, "rowing speed" scene, (homoerotic) chemistry between Messala and Ben-Hur (especially the "before the split" scenes [交杯酒] and the "first meet after years" scene), Jesus assembly scene
Bad: screenplay after 3:10:00 (The lepers and Christ to crucifixion storylines after the chariot race scene are distracting from Ben-Hur story and unnecessary. It's overlong and creates an anticlimax in the end.), generic direction and cinematography - DirectorMichael CiminoStarsRobert De NiroChristopher WalkenJohn CazaleAn in-depth examination of the ways in which the Vietnam War impacts and disrupts the lives of several friends in a small steel mill town in Pennsylvania.
