Rest assured that however you felt about Joel (Michael Zegen) — who left his wife for his secretary, only to then leave his secretary for his wife — there are fans of the show who hate him more. "I was in an elevator, and this woman turned to me, and said, 'You are loathsome,'" recalls Zegen. "This was a week into the show coming out, and I was like, 'This is what I have to look forward to.'" Zegen previews his character’s dilemma in Season 2, and promises a more relatable Joel. "He’s stuck between a rock and a hard place," says Zegen. "On the one hand, he loves Midge, and he saw that she was really talented. And on the other hand, it's a huge blow to his ego that she is this talented. That's what we're exploring in Season 2. There's a lot of love there."
