- DirectorPhilipp JedickeStarsChilly GonzalesPeachesLeslie FeistChilly Gonzales is a Grammy-winning composer, virtuoso pianist and entertainer. Criss-crossing between rap, electro and solo piano music, he became the outrageous pop performer who invited himself to the ivory tower of classical music. The eccentric artist inspires and collaborates with the likes of Feist, Jarvis Cocker, Peaches, Daft Punk and Drake. Change seems to be the only constant in Gonzales' journey. Every time his audience thinks it has finally figured him out, he makes a radical move and breaks with its expectations. The cinematic documentary Shut Up And Play The Piano follows Gonzales from his native Canada to late 90's underground Berlin, and via Paris to the world's great philharmonic halls. It dives deep into the dichotomy of Gonzales' stage persona, where self-doubt and megalomania are just two sides of the same coin. The playfulness of his character is mirrored in the look of the film. Using Gonzales' extensive video archive in a rather unorthodox manner, Shut Up And Play The Piano explores his persona by interweaving newly shot interviews and concert scenes with fictional materials of totally different time periods. Reality and fiction blur together as we embark on a trip through Chilly Gonzales' world.

Hans Schuierer, acting district administrator, is lured by the economic upswing. Soon the social democrat can be celebrated as the savior of the district. There are only a handful of crazy people who are not really serious about the planned nuclear plant. It was only when the state government reacted violently to the harmless action of a newly founded citizens' initiative that Schuierer began to have doubts and began to ask questions. When the health risks of the WAA become apparent and Schuierer realizes that the state government has no interest in informing the people about it, the district administrator decides lonely against the project: with the result that not only his best friend and mayor falls away from him, Instead, the Strauss government even tried to get rid of them with impeachment proceedings and changes in the law. But dying is out of the question. Nobody will be left in the lurch. Pig's head, liver dumpling soup and pale ale from the bottle hold body, mind and the shop together. With his portrait of the service station "B12" between Munich and Passau and its elderly regulars, Christian Lerch has made a slightly different documentary film. He shows Bavaria as if from a sketch of Karl Valentin: rough, anarchic, with a beer-infused depth.

- DirectorAlice AgneskirchnerLAMPENFIEBER accompanies five children of the young ensemble of the Friedrichstadt-Palast during the creation of the new children's play from the castings to the rehearsals to the grand premiere evening in front of 2,000 spectators. We experience with them a year full of challenges: The long rehearsal process with many small and big successes and setbacks, the eager anticipation of the cast of the leading roles, competition and friendship and finally the big premiere. In addition to their everyday life at the palace, we also accompany the five in their private lives, at home and at school. We take part in their personal development, their dreams and fears, conflicts with their parents and the normal madness of puberty. Despite their different life stories, they all share a passion for the big stage. In the Friedrichstadt-Palast they grow beyond themselves as friends in order to realize their common dream. On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the Friedrichstadt-Palast in 2019, the film also tells a piece of German contemporary history through the eyes of the children and through their encounters with the house's long-standing employees: from its beginnings as a circus, the first blossoming in the 1920s, the destruction during the war, the reopening, the new building in the 1980s and the rise of the palace to the magnificent theatre of the GDR with guests from Louis Armstrong to Charles Aznavour.
