Editors' Picks: Our Favorites From the Week of March 3 6 of 10
Advance Warning of the Week
Hereditary was the most unjustly overlooked film of 2018 (we've mentioned this a few times), so it's a good thing you've got a full five months to get ready for writer/director Ari Aster's follow-up, Midsommar. Details are slim, but based on the trailer, it's basically a backpacker's nightmare: A couple on an idyllic Scandinavian vacation stumble upon some kind of freak-folk nightmare. And while it's certainly brighter than Hereditary, all the terrifying bits look to remain intact, including an unsettling sense of symmetry and Aster's ASMR obsession (an eerie exhale replaces Milly Shapiro's cluck this time around). Summer has never seemed this scary, and we can't wait.
