Bombshells and Then Some
The past year was a memorable one for documentaries, many of which framed deeply personal journeys marked with unpredictable and unforgivable atrocities. Two notable examples were Kevin Macdonald's Whitney, which digs up one heck of a family secret about the tragic pop singer's childhood, and the cult favorite Three Identical Strangers, which jarringly exposes the literally unspeakable reasons binding (and tragically separating) the lives of three identical triplets. Both movies were inescapable, excruciating watches.
