May Picks: The Movies and TV Shows You Can't Miss2 of 10
Booksmart | Premieres Friday, May 24
Quite simply, Booksmart looks like a gender-flipped version of Superbad and the trailer has made me laugh more than any other comedy this year, so this is my pick for the breakout movie of the summer. There's something about this particular female friendship and their candid dialogue about UTIs and SAT scores that feels fresh, genuine, and not overworked. If it's true that comedy is the hardest genre to create, special attention needs to be paid to Olivia Wilde, as the actress has apparently aced her directorial debut. — Arno
