Animated Adaptation of the Week
Pinocchio gets to be a sur-real boy. Guillermo del Toro, director of Oscar-winner The Shape of Water, has been given the greenlight from Netflix to write, produce, and direct a stop-motion musical about the famous wooden puppet. Del Toro is known for his dark approach to material and this sounds no different, as it will be set in Italy during the 1930s, when fascism was on the rise. As fans of Pan's Labyrinth and his Hellboy movies, we're already looking forward to seeing his twisted take on the tale.
