Matt Groening's Guide to "Disenchantment"7 of 11
The Pinocchio You Don't Know
Groening admits there's "a lot of Pinocchio" to be found in "Disenchantment," though not necessarily the stuff that ended up in Disney's 1940 version.
"I just happened to see a book about the art in Pinocchio, and I went, 'Oh, my god. That's where we're getting all this stuff from,'" he told TV Week. "The secret, for me, is not the great, brilliant movies that are perfect. It's the imperfection you find in the books about the movies."
