Editors' Picks: Our Favorites From the Week of Sept. 235 of 10
Tribute of the Week
On Sept. 23, we bid farewell to Star Wars producer Gary Kurtz, who died in London at the age of 78. His name may not be familiar to many, but you've heard of The Empire Strikes Back. Kurtz not only came up with the title, but he directed the scene where Luke flees the ice cave. Kurtz went on to produce Jim Henson’s The Dark Crystal and invested in the dark, ill-fated Return to Oz. LucasFilm, producer of the Star Wars films, perhaps put it best by saying Kurtz will be remembered as a "man of immense talent and intelligence" who "leaves behind a powerful legacy in film."
