Fifty Years of 60 Minutes
September 24, 2017 marked the beginning of the 50th year of the venerated news magazine, 60 Minutes (1968). With nearly 1,400 episodes and 108 awards, the show seems poised to run indefinitely. Oprah Winfrey is joining 60 Minutes as a special correspondent for this historic season.

Walter Leland Cronkite, Jr. was born in Saint Joseph, Missouri, the only child of Helen Lena (Fritsche) and Walter Leland Cronkite, a doctor.
